the food is outstanding, very pricey.
cajun shrimp and lobster pasta was superb. the ribeye and sweet mash was perfect. the lobster tail was overcooked and the seasoning or maybe that it was overcooked, but it made it taste like bad breath. there was no drink menu, so i did not get to try a cocktail that i saw online posted. took a while to get refills on water and the ginger ale was not that great.
we made reservations but was seated by the hostess table and weren't able to sit at the upstairs level for some reason, so it was quite chilly. which where we were seated was pretty crowded, the waiters weren't able to go in between the tables.
the way it is marketed was as fine dining(like finer dining than black and blue) but going in it was not fine dining, i felt very overdressed in a dress and heels while i would say others were dressed as business casual (jeans and a nice blouse with either heels or flats). the music was a nice touch lots of r&B which i loved. but later through dinner they turned up the music and it became hard to have a conversation.
i made a reservation with a special request which was not fulfilled. :(
moving onward to service, they had just opened up the month and you could tell the server was still learning, she was very nice (Domonique) however it took a while to get the check or a drink. i would highly suggest to order when you first sit down everything that you would like, it does take more than average timing, but since we ordered all the food at the same time it was perfect. we did happen to order wings and by the time we had gotten it we had already paid and ready to go. Domonique was apologetic and her customer service was good.
i would love to come back later on maybe in the next couple months to see if they may change pricing, more knowledgeable servers, and if they change anything else. this restaurant i believe has lots of potential and can really be something great.
Stale bread, no wine list, waitress didn't know what Pinot Grigio was.... Not what I would expect from a steak house charging 200$ for dinners. Everyone was friendly. I would equate this to eating at Denny's with 200$ items on the menu.
Customer service was amazing , food was delicious
Went here looking for a special dining experience because it was our anniversary. We both enjoyed the experience and will certainly return again.
I must start off by stating that the food at this restaurant is AMAZINGLY Delicious. Everything that came to the table was filled with bold flavors that sent our mouths on one of the greatest experiences.
The colors and setting of the restaurant was also a nice vibe. The music played was suitable for all patrons and was played at a nice even tone so that we didn’t have to yell at one another. I would say the sound system needs to be upgraded and surround sound provided, as it seem to be sitting in the center of the lower part of the restaurant.
Unfortunately, the wait for food was much longer than expected and we kept receiving dishes one by one instead of all together.
It also took quite some time to get our drinks, and seeing as how we were seated not too far from the bar and only ordered glasses of wine, I have no understanding of the long wait. I’m talking 20-30 minutes for a glass of wine, in which the waitress came to out table twice to check on us and mentioned the wine twice.
We tried to get our waitress attention multiple times throughout our wait and out meal, but we were often unable to, due to her conversing with other employees of the restaurant. So that was a bit off putting.
It also took us an additional 20 minutes to get our bill AFTER our desert. The place was not packed, due to Covid restrictions, so again, we couldn’t understand the wait process. Everything we ordered went to our waitress, but came up via different people.
I can say that the owner came to the table to ensure we enjoyed our meal, asked us about the music choice (which was pretty good), and asked us about our opinion of the restaurant.
All in all, AMAZING FOOD, Nice Vibe, Great Music Selection BUT Poor sound system, inattentive wait staff and long wait times.
Food and service was good. However, the music was very loud, therefore, people was talking over the music. Very dark atmosphere. No dress code requirement for a fine dining environment. An very intense argument developed between two individuals that was very distributing and spoiled the evening.
We waited 2.5 hours for food. Cooks walked off job after being yelled at by staff and owner. When it was time to pay, we agreed the level of service didn’t warrant gratuity. We asked the owner to make adjustments, he yelled “pay all of it”. Then tried to appease us by throwing a $50 bill on the table insinuating that we couldn’t afford the bill. We politely gave it to the waitress and left.
By far the worst restaurant I’ve ever been too. We waited 2 hours for our food to come out at brunch. You couldn’t even talk because everyone in the restaurant was screaming. They were double parking cars and blocking people in. Then the owner had the audacity to come out and say we’ve only been open for 19 days consider that.
Then didn’t even discount our check and added a required amount of gratuity. There was only 2 of us. The real closer on this place a $200 plate of food on their menu for 1 person. Yeah their dinner menu is between $80-$200 just for a plate. Luckily we didn’t go for dinner. But this place is way over priced on everything. They didn’t even have appetizers. And I’m the inside looks like they paid a guy $10 to paint it. Horrendous.
Save your time and your money. If you find yourself in the situation we were in with this place being the only place available, go hungry. Or go buy food and cook it yourself. It’ll be cheaper and faster.
We had a TERRIBLE experience as we made 10AM brunch reservations for 4 guests on Open Table. We arrived on time to locked doors and no one in the restaurant. An employee pulled into the parking lot at 10:05 and went through the back to open the restaurant for us. She told us the hostess would be right with us and had us sitting there for 20 minutes before she came and told us the restaurant did not actually open until 11, so we needed to leave and come back then. This is after wasting our 30 minutes of our time. We had reservations (that was obviously an internal issue with Open Table), so should have at least been offered drinks at the bar until the kitchen was up and running for the day (even non-alcoholic would have been appreciated, or coffee). Instead we left and went to brunch elsewhere. We even cancelled our dinner reservation we had coming up for 8 guests with this restaurant. Very disappointed in the lack of customer service.
The steak was great 👍 and the Salomon was on point
It was a wonderful experience from food to service
Very pricey but for the special occasion it was worth the trip
The wait is terribly long even if you have reservations. Once seated 45 minutes after reservations they just leave you sitting for another 20 minutes waiting on menus drinks or for someone to even acknowledge you’re waiting. Waitress spilled drink on my clothing. Food isn’t worth what you receive very small portions. 18% gratuity is added to all parties. Very unorganized. I would not go again even if it was the last restaurant on earth.
The food was tasty. Not impressed with the service.
I made brunch reservations for 3 for my best friend’s birthday for 12 noon today. When we arrived, the restaurant was full. Downstairs was reserved for a large party and everyone seemed to be having a good time. After we were seated upstairs, our server came over after around 10 minutes and we placed our food and drink order. By 12:50 we still had not received our food. Our server came over around 5 minutes later and told us our food was “right there” (he pointed to the kitchen), and he was about to bring it over to us. Around 1:00, the owner walked over, introduced himself and thanked us for coming. By 1:10 the server came over and offered us another drink on the house, and apologized for the long wait time. By 1:30 he came and said again our food was “right there”. As I looked around, I noticed no one else had food at their tables either, and another table had left out of frustration. We watched as servers with trays of food and drinks repeatedly went past us to the large party downstairs. At 1:55, I finally asked for the check to pay for our drinks. Our server went and got the check. I saw him walk over to the kitchen and pull our ticket down. They hadn’t even started our order! We all had ordered the shrimp and grits @$32 each and one red velvet waffle to share. Never in my life have I waited 2 hours for a meal. They have 5 star prices, but 1 star service. The server brought over the check, I paid for our drinks and we left. The owners never came over to apologize or offer to give us our drinks at no charge as you would expect in an upscale restaurant. I didn’t bother to ask to speak with the owner, because they were standing right there and It was clear that none of the upstairs tables had been served their food. I understand they are new and extremely busy, but that’s still no excuse for a 2 hour wait. I wanted to support this black business, but with those prices, I expect exceptional service. If they expect to last, they need to find a capable manager
The food took long but it was so good and the music was awesome and the tipping is very questionable!
Heard about this place from a Friend who lives in Buffalo. I decided to treat my husband to a nice little weekend getaway ( Syracuse NY) the customer service was great, I think it was a confusion when we were seated our waitress never came to the table to check on us, but I believe it was cuz we were at the bar and while waiting on our table we placed our ordered there. But overall great. I will recommend this place to friends and family. Prices were a little bit expensive for the meal, but overall good food.
Very good except experience and I will definitely be back.
Food was great , wonderful atmosphere , Great service highly Recommend !
Restaurant is just opening up, so I feel that there is room for trial and error! My wife and I had a reservation for 7:15 and was seated by 7:20, establishment had great décor and our server was attentive and very likeable. The ambiance has great potential, my down sides of this location is the food was not worth the money paid, not nasty but not great. The restaurant was promoted to be an upscale outing but there were patrons dressed in hoodies and flip flops which totally ruined the moment or expectation. I feel like the place has great potential to be better and I will eventually return.
I went here for me and my wife 11th year anniversary we got seated right away got drinks right away but the wait time for the appetizers and food was ridiculous it took almost and hour the owner came and introduced his self I did mention the wait time on food he offered us free drinks but never had them sent to our table by the time food came the wife was ready to go
Overall my experience was ok and I will be going again. I realize it’s a new establishment and some time to work the kinks out must be granted.
I thought the service was in need of improvement. The hostess wasn’t at the stand for awhile when we 1st arrived which was odd. Then when we were seated we waited about 20 minutes just for water. Once we received water and bread though the service went much faster.
We ordered a medium rare (bloody) steak but received a well done cut. Hoping it was a one off mistake. They did correct it right away though and then we cut was perfect!
The noise level from the live music (which was great!) though was a bit too loud. With the acoustics in their the volume could be a bit lower. I felt like I was yelling across the dinner table.
The food was amazing! We loved everything we ate ... which is one of the most important parts! I would say the portion sizes could be a little larger but not much for the sides and the salmon.
Looking forward to seeing how things evolve over the next few months.
The drinks were delicious & not watered down. Best of all, the food was outstanding!! I was very impressed. Worth every dime!!
A bit too pricey but a great experience overall. Will most likely be back
Very wonderful experience! Management was very professional and inviting. Clean area, great food! Can’t wait to go back!
Luxor positions itself as an upscale fine dining solution in Buffalo, but does not deliver on that ambition in any manner aside from its pricing. While there were no absolutely egregious errors that ruined the evening, the sum of all parts fell profoundly short of the bill total. To charge customers high end fare requires a commensurate proficiency from the establishment, which Luxor categorically did not meet. Pricing aside, Luxor offered a standard neighborhood bar vibe and service, with capable main course entrees (particularly the lamb and steak) coupled with passable but muted sides. The cocktails took longer than average to be prepared, and were nothing special when received.
It’s new so some things can improve but overall I enjoyed myself an food was delicious! Especially that Sause on the crab cakes!
I’m glad you asked for a review! I’m going back after the “Grand Opening”...praying that the experience is not the same...
Nice idea, but if you're advertising that you're an upscale eatery then your staff needs to resemble that. The staff should all be dressed in the same attire with aprons and some type of hair covering. Too many of the ladies' hair was hanging well-past their shoulders (one of them had their hair catch on fire from a table candle).
The food was good but was not brought out all at once. All of our orders came out a little at a time - by the time we ate one portion of our meal the other plates were being served...having all of our food out at once is preferred.
We made reservations, arrived 10 minutes early and was told we had a 15 minute wait. We were seated approximately 30 minutes later.
Got there to be never to be seated waited for an hour
We never had the opportunity to be seated and served. We had an 8 PM reservation but at 8 PM was advised there would be a half hour wait. 40 minutes later we were still not seated and decided to cancel our reservation. We then had to find another place to eat - late at night. overall, we were very disappointed as we were excited to try this place. Hopefully all the kinks will be worked out with this establishment.
Excellent customer service
