Second time at M, we had the pre theatre menu, arrived at 6pm, served quickly by their ever attentive staff, menu was varied and we were all happy with our choices..steak, risotto and hake. We returned after Hamilton for our dessert and fizz, fantastic, we’ll be back.
Excellent food and service..
Great service only bettered by the quality and cooking of the steak
Never disappointed with the steak - even their cheapest option - the biltong is also delicious.
The food was tasty and high quality, however, portion size was small for the overall price.
Food was fabulous. Service was very good, maybe a bit too efficient. It was very noisy and the loud music did take away from the experience somewhat.
Amazing dinner time in M restaurant. The food was stunning and staff very welcoming. Great experience, super location!!
I visited this place for a meeting with old friends and got stunned with the food taste. Never had this steak taste before. Their presentation is mind blowing. Staff polite and very welcoming with great service! Looking forward to another visit
The service was excellent and attentive. Really impressed with the waiter who served us as he chatted and engaged with us throughout the time we spent there. The chef came to to the table to discuss the meat we were going to eat and finally when we left we were given a business card to call should we return and was told we would get a lovely table.
Lovely place with amazing food. This was my second time and they exceed my expectations again. Service was very attentive. Highly recommended!
We went for a treat to sample the waygu steak.
The steak was amazing, just melted as you ate it, and the chips tasted really good too!
Found the music noise a little too loud
Great food; friendly, efficient staff; chilled atmosphere... great way to spend our anniversary. Thanks M. You made us feel special.
The food was very good, notwithstanding the cabbage, which was downright weird.
The service was pretty poor, though. We had to flag someone down every time we wanted anything, including even being given a menu or offered a drink when we arrived.
The big downside was the live music. While not a problem in itself, it was so loud we couldn’t here each other at all, despite being at a table for two.
Wasn't the best overall experience. The restaurant was completely rushed off its feet and it wasn't even full. We were sat down at a table but given no menus. 20 mins later we had to ask for menus and we were only given a drinks one so had to ask a second time for a food one. The we were brought the wrong food and then given prosecco by accident which they then took away. They were sold out of 2 puddings at 7pm on valentine's Day.
Would have expected better from the prices. We were also denied more bread.
I am writing on the disappointing Valentine’s Day dining experience at M Victoria Street Restaurant at 6:30 pm on February 14.
It was a special occasion for me and my partner and we’ve made the reservation via AMEX Platinum concierge. Both of us were really unhappy about this experience for the following reasons:
1)The food was quite sub-standard – we have ordered the chicken karaage as a starter and the crab meat ravioli. We told the waiter that the chicken karaage was under-cooked as the meat was pink and tender, the response we’ve got was that the chicken was marinated in milk for over a day and it was completely normal to have pink meat, which was a lame excuse; on the other hand, the ravioli was too salted and the crab meat was very soggy;
2)We ordered the ribeye from South Africa as the main dish and it was a bit over cooked on the outside with scorched surfaces. It was quite bad but not as bad as the starters;
3)What really annoyed us and made us leave early (and skip the dessert) was the violinist on that night, which was completely a disaster. He didn’t play any decent music at all and was barely making noises around the dining hall. We’ve recorded the videos and showed to our friends after our V-day dinner. And everyone thinks that the “live performance” was merely a joke. My partner was a well trained musician and she was completely shocked and could NOT tolerate any longer since the violinist was roaming around and making random saw-cutting sounds.
I would really not want to visit M restaurant again and thank you for ruining our Valentine’s Day.
Valentines Lunch and the event was perfect.e both started with the chicken koraage (after asking how to pronounce it) ... that was delicious and then the Argentinian steak which was cooked perfectly and so flavoursome
Well Definitley be back
Only disappointment was the lack of a variety of menu options - no Wagyu (which we visited specifically for), and large numbers of wines not available. Evidently supply issues. Otherwise the usual excellent experience.
On the plus side, it's quite a nice setting, decent space, nice open kitchen. The staff are trying hard too, but they are being let down by the Chefs. Maybe we were just unlucky, but having turned up for breakfast, i did expect the Chef to be able to fry a couple of eggs. The first attempt was delivered with just about cooked yolks and liquid white....yuk! So I asked them to re-do it, which the waitress agreed without hesitation, but it came back just the same. We then had a daft conversation about how the way they cook them meant it was hard to cook the white. I did offer to show them, but they declined ;-) Attempt three came back, this time the whole thing has been obliterated with heat - the whites were cooked, yes, but the yolks were now solid, sort of flat hard boiled eggs. I gave up and ate them. They decided not to charge us, which was kind. So overall, not so bad, as long you dont want fried eggs..... good luck!
Very disappointing. The ambience is not very nice, big open space with no atmosphere and loud music. We asked 3 times if the sound could be turned down, to no avail. Some very loud guests clebrating a birthday didn't help. We ordered pre dinner drinks, we had to remind the waiter of our order twice, the cocktails eventually arrived after 20 minutes (not a complicated order, 3 Manhattans), they eventually arrived..with the starter, mine was very disappointing. I had the ceviche: the fish was tough and the dressing very acidic. The main dish of pork, accompanied with cabbage, mash and mushrooms was equally bad. Very salty pork and mushrooms, and very hard (undercooked?) cabbage. We then shared a cheese plate, 3 small portions of uninspiring cheeses turned up (I am French and am used to succulent cheese platters). I was embarassed as my friends were treating me so I didn't feel I could complain in front of them. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant, it's expensive nad not worth the money.
A steak restaurant that doesn’t have steak on its pre-theatre menu despite being advertised on the website. Staff showed no ability to offer flexibility
Delicious meal before a show. The food arrived at just the right pace and was delicious.
The service was very good. We went early in the evening and there were not many people in...this would have been a livelier place later in the evening, so not really a place to go to before the theatre in my view...a little dead.
Food was ok, not special and over priced for what it was.
One of the better stakes houses I've been to. Food was superb, steak melted in the mouth, sides were all flavourful and tasty. Price was worth it. I definitely recommend for special events/occasions. The deco was beautiful.
Great venue, really nice staff, food if you stray from the steaks was a bit weak (my fillet steak was decent, however the wife’s pork dish was just plain odd)
Otherwise nice restaurant in Victoria which is short on high end establishments such as this.
Presentation was nice, but the actual breakfast didn’t taste amazing. I find the eggs are either too cooked or not cooked enough
A special occasion restaurant with hefty prices for pre theatre meal. Very good service and pleasant food.
We went for the new years eve 5 course menu. The food was lovely, and good value. The drinks were pretty expensive but that was as expected. Overall we had a great evening
Dinner before Hamilton, at the Victoria Palace on New Years Eve, could not have gone better. Memet our waiter was patient and attentive, moving us along in the most gentle fashion, so as to make our show on time. After some indecision, we settled on the kilo of beef from around the world, with beef marrow mashed potatoes for accompaniment. We were treated to delightful bite of beef tartare en croute to whet our palate. I enjoyed a glass of Hangin Snakes shiraz-viongier, which went perfectly with the beef. With little time left for dessert, we were happily surprised by a platter adorned with Happy Anniversary in chocolate and two decadent truffles, streaming with a mini display of fireworks. Lovely evening all around. The service made it over the top. Thanks for a happy start to the New Year!
We made a double visit to M on New Year's Eve, first at 5pm for dinner, then after the theatre back at 1045 for the New Year celebration. We were very well looked after on both occasions. There was a special New Years Eve menu (said five course but really three plus amuse bouches and petit fours, but that's a quibble), and the quality was superb, not least the vegetarian options for one of our party. So we had a quiet dinner with good wines, and then after the theatre were given four seats at the bar to drink well crafted cocktails and then champagne (expensive but superb) as midnight approached with a great party atmosphere. Not cheap - we spent nearly £700 all in - but well worth it for a special evening. Really delightful staff - manger, receptionists, barmen (and especially bar manager) added greatly to the enjoyment.
Excellent food and attentive service. Good place to go for a top quality piece of steak.
We love it here, always a great meal and amazing service.
Came for Sat Xmas Brunch all you could eat and drink menu. Amazing quality of steaks burgers duck and egg dishes, not to mention champagne which was topped up constantly. Could not have chosen better for our Xmas treat.
I went for a business breakfast and will never go again. In no particular order;
Service very slow. Waiting staff not unfriendly but incompetent
In an open plan kitchen visible from the tables you may want to reconsider having chefs pick up food with their fingers out of the microwave before placing on diners plates.
£5 for a side of bacon is ridiculous. The bacon looked like a mouldy banana skin
Granola was dry and not enough yoghurt or anything to add moisture.
All in all terrible I’m afraid.
Food was excellent but service inattentive and cocktails very poor.
Meat was very good. Service was slow and good atmosphere but you really feel in a basement.
I must say that this is NOT a cheap restaurant, but the food quality, the four times we have visited, has been second to none. Great service and knowledgable staff. RECOMMENDED!!!!!
Good atmosphere in attractive surroundings, friendly and efficient staff giving just the right amount of attention to the customer , good menu ,great cocktails.
Poor service, very loud live music, unexceptional food for price. Extremely disappointed as it was meant to be a treat for her birthday
Excellent meat although it was served slightly cold. Vert good service even if staff looked tired (late dinner post-theatre).
Great place. Delicious steaks and wines
