M Threadneedle Street Ratings and Reviews
Finding myself on business in the financial district in London, I used OpenTable to choose a good local restaurant and with a score of 4.6/5.0 I knew I’d be on to a winner with M Threadneedle St. The service on arrival, and throughout my meal, was excellent but the service pales into comparison against the BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER TASTED! Now, this was by no means a cheap meal, it was a meal of five beef courses - I ordered only three dishes but felt like I’d had five courses,. The £3 ‘bite’ I ordered while perusing the menu was a dinner plate of Puffed Beef with Black Garlic Aioli (the taste of delicious beef fat with the texture of quavers!) but this was preceded by beautiful bread (I think with treacle) with beef butter. I was then given an amuse bouche of Puffed Beef with truffle mouse...outstanding despite having already ordered said plate of puffed beef. I went for the Smoked Wagyu Tartare for my starter (yes, I am only onto my starter!) and this was complemented perfectly by apple, a 62 degree egg yolk and foie gras (amazing but I didn’t need the brioche toast). Then came the main course, a 200g Sirloin of 9++ Wagyu Beef....the only thing I can say is WOW! I have eaten many different steaks in many different countries, always trying to find the best but the steak I had at M Threadneedle St was quite simply the best! I was served by Antonio who was supremely informative, professional and attentive throughout my meal and when it came to paying my bill, he presented me with a cookbook created by Chef Michael Reid. When asked, he even got it signed by the head chef! I never write such a long review but my experience at M Threadneedle St justifies every word. Well done guys, well done! I will be back!...thank you!
Lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff was incredibly attentive. We will definitely go back!
I would only recommend offering another fish alternative suitable to pescetarians - the monkfish was exquisite but cooked with beef gravy.
A great venue, very lively atmosphere, attentive staff (fantastic manager). I enjoyed the sea bream. However both my friends steaks were chewy! Unexpected and disappointing. Though thankfully for one of them their starter the Smoked wagyu tartare was on point! Enjoyed the cocktails though they took a long time to come (thank goodness for the prosecco). Really want to go again and give it another go, as it has to be better than just an ok dining experience.
Expensive but absolutely amazing food. It was my husbands birthday and they presented him with a cookbook. They forgot his ketchup but swiftly remedied with apologies. Staff new about the food and it’s preparation. Staff are very present without being pushy. My husband adored his steak and the venison I had was beyond amazing
We celebrated our mum's birthday at M Restaurant and what a fantastic experience. We are loved the food and my mum still raves about the short rib the best she's had!!". We loved loved loved our meal and are planning to come back very soon!!! Thanks for a great evening :-)
We could not have asked for a better experience. The service was impeccable and the food, the FOOD!! Seriously one of the best meals we have ever had. There is no other word to describe the food except phenomenal! We will tell everyone about this place, just so we have an excuse to talk about the food we ate!
Visited M Restaurant and was welcomed immediately by a friendly host. Never rushed, a casual vibe throughout the evening, and meals (starters, mains and desserts) were all first rate - fine dining quality with decent portion sizes, in my opinion. Overall, this was an excellent evening without the pretentiousness of some other establishments. Will return
American friends were in from out of town. Started with some yummy cocktails and then got down to the business of showing them there is a world of choice for steak lovers.
Our waiter talked us through the options and we compared Australian, South African, and American steaks. We agreed to disagree on which was the best, but all were cooked to perfection.
It’s a great place to go after work or with your out of town friends.
My recommendation: go Australian!
As a massive beef fan I had quite high expectations about this place. I had the ribeye, which was really tasty and well presented. The service was very professional and our friendly waitress made us enjoy our time there. I love wine but did not know very well the products from Argentina.
Booked for husbands birthday who is a big fan of steak and we saw their steak tartare dramatic reveal on masterchef. I am pregnant which limits the menu choices a little but this worked out really well as I tried the carrot starter - they were so tasty never knew carrots could be so impressive! Food and service were impeccable and treated us very well. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion as it is a little pricey, but worth it for the quality.
We went to M Restaurant for a family meal last week and every single one of us loved it. The waitress were really friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu, and all of the food was delicious. The scallop starter is a must try and and every single steak is a winner as far as we could tell.
My wife and I sat at the bar table overlooking the downstairs dining area. Perfect! Excellent service from the bartender. We shared an appropriately cooked filet with chips and mushrooms. All nicely flavored. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the beautifully decor.
OK, so we usually hate going to the same place twice. But for M restaurant we made an exception.
Last time we visited London we stumbled upon M and had one of (if not THE) best meal we've ever had. So we had to go again when we visited this September for my partner's 30th birthday.
All I can say is that it was as good, if not better, than we remembered.
