Dining al fresco and the overall experience was very positive. The food as always is fantastic and the service was gracious. Highly recommended.
Delicious haddock and the new outdoor dining is fabulous ! So glad we could go back to one of our favorite restaurants in Boston!
This was our first visit to a restaurant in Boston since the pandemic began. We were wary. All in all our experience was excellent. We had requested outside but when we arrived the outside area was too crowded for comfort. The outside tables are too close and should be separated more. Fortunately there was no one inside so we ate inside. The waiters were friendly and very careful about following health protocol. The menu is a QR code which can be read with a smart phone to display the menu. Unfortunately, how it works is not obvious and the waiter did not provide sufficient explanation for me to use it. Finally he did explain how to use it and I had no further problems. We had the country pate and the smoked salmon as appetizers. Both were outstanding. Next we had romaine salad with Roquefort, walnuts and cherries - very refreshing and tasty. As a main we had leek quiche and smoked salmon croissant - both excellent. These were served with an enormous quantity of French fries and salad. The mains were a bit too much food and the fries completely unnecessary - we didn't touch them. We could have happily split the quiche.
To drink we had a lovely glass of crement rose which complimented each course.
We were very pleased with the experience. Excellent food and drink, friendly and very careful waitstaff, nice quiet ambience. My only suggestions are to separate the outside tables more and explain how to use the menu more clearly.
Best French food! I felt like I was back in France! Highly recommend
Everything was perfect! We had a wonderful time! As a lovely surprise - When they overheard we were celebrating our anniversary, they surprised us with both complimentary drinks before our meal and a lovely surprise after.
Stage 2 reopening in Boston, Ma Maison has utilized the bike lane to create a lovely front patio dining space. There is a decorative fence separating diners from traffic, lovely shade-producing Mumm’s champagne umbrellas, and pretty Doreen plants to provide a garden-feel to this downtown Beacon Hill establishment. The food is, as ever, perfection... a true French Bistro dining experience. 💙🤍❤️
In our new dining world, the service was wonderful, everyone was friendly and welcoming and the food was a delight, beautifully prepared and presented, a must go to place.
Wonderful service, mussels excellent, always dependably good value.
I went for an anniversary celebration. The meal was elegant and delicious, the service felt kind and comfortable, never stuffy. They made the night special but cozy, it was perfect! It was an authentic French dining experience without pretentiousness.
Great place made even better by the cozy outdoor seating and Sunday brunch! The staff and restaurant were COVID19 ready with appropriate spacing and sanitizer. Glad to see a favorite fighting the good fight.
Great Sunday brunch. Excellent food, excellent service. The new outdoor seating area was lovely. We are planning on making this a Sunday tradition as long as the outdoor dining is available.
Food was delicious and came out quickly, and service was fantastic!
Excellent service, very polite staff. Clean. They were attentive yet not hovering over you. Place is spotless (given COVID-19, this was important.) excellent food and choices of wine.
One of my favorite spots! Felt like coming home as we were greeted warmly. Service was attentive and always gives you the feeling that you could chat with them or have a private conversation as desired. We sat outside in the attractive space prepared for outdoor dining. We had some of our favorite dishes including baked onion soup, country pate, liver dinner and scallop dinner. They also have clafoutis, which I love...I would typically order the chocolate mouse but had to try their clafoutis and was not disappointed, it was warm with vanilla ice cream on it. It was great to come back to dine. The afternoon at Ma Maison with the wonderfully familiar and delicious food and attentive, friendly staff was a treat.
Our first restaurant dining in responsibly reopening Boston. Ma M had a few tables inside and some outside. Superb food that we have enjoyed via takeout, and wonderful service.
We dined outside due to Covid. Love this restaurant and their food!
From top to bottom, from beginning to end, our dinner and experience was absolutely wonderful. We are longtime hospitality industry professionals and to find a place with such true authenticity and sincerity oozing from every dish, every interaction, and every glass we could not have been more pleased! We will be back time and time again.
You guys are always the best! I’m so happy that you finally reopen! Miss this place so much
All around terrific - here's hoping they can re-open soon!
Very nice birthday celebration with complimentary champagne. Waitress was great. Roasted quail and venison with blueberries was tasty and hearty. A Medley of two large sorbets for dessert. The blood orange sorbet was outstanding with an intense flavor and pieces of fruit. My partner enjoyed his meal of haddock and pistachio Napolean dessert. Restaurant has nice homey feel without feeling pretentious. Will be back.
Excellent escargot, as good as a high level restaurant in Paris.
Everything was great. Second time dining here. It was perfect!!!
It was one of the best French meals I’ve had in a long time. Escargots were perfect and the sweetbreads in Dijon cream sauce (Wednesday evening special) were to die for!
Gem of a restaurant located on the back of Bacon Hill. Excellent food, friendly attentive service with a neighborhood feel.
The food was delicious, as was the ambiance. Our waitress was a little distracted by the large number of tables being served---restaurant week---, but overall great
Outstanding traditional French food, wonderful service.
My wife and I went to Ma Maison for a date-night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was pleasant and the food was excellent. The restaurant itself was small and filled up quickly, so I would definitely make a reservation. The menu was classic bistro fare; the meals the folks around us were getting all looked delicious.
I always like Ma Maison and we go every now and then as it is in our neighborhood. It has gotten so popular that you definitely need a reservation. As it is a small place, when it gets crowded it also gets noisy. Service is always excellent and my favorite thing is the souffle for dessert!
Food was impeccable, service was excellent. Fantastic date night
Best food for the money in Boston. Cooked to perfect temperature every time. Staff the best.
Small quaint restaurant in Beacon Hill. Don't go before reservation time because there is no where to wait. Enjoyable experience, only negative is I love my pomme frites skinny and they serve them thick!!!
Everything was truly delicious
Lucky us. This is our neighborhood restaurant. I always start with their French onion soup while my husband loves their special soup du jour — both always perfectly delicious.
service felt a bit rushed...service felt a bit rushed...service felt a bit rushed...service felt a bit rushed...service felt a bit rushed...service felt a bit rushed...
We were in Boston for Julie's birthday and this was her first choice. Two friends came to celebrate with us and we think they took the weekend off partially because they knew we were headed to Ma Maison. Ma Maison is about as close as you get in the US to a lovely French bistro. One of Julie's favorites meals is cassoulet and this night it was on the menu, though she did pause when the special changed to beef wellington; but, Lee did try that and said it was excellent. I started with the quail and had a lovely Dover sole (unfortunately you have to pre-order this 24 hours in advance and I rarely remember, this time I did and was rewarded). For dessert, we don't need the menu (though we wish we had the opportunity to try some of the selections, they sound great), they have soufflé’s. Normally we get one chocolate and one grand marnier, this time we both went for the grand marnier....and didn't have to share (the chocolate is just as good). We had a new server and our fault did not get her name but the service was excellent. The only regret is that we can’t get back sooner. Thank you for a lovely night. Bill and Julie
Great food, friendly environment and reasonable price
Food and service were outstanding. Enjoyed our meal.
We were in Boston for a difficult appointment at MGH. Ma Maison was a cozy, warm inviting respite from the day. The food was delicious
