Mac & Wild The City
Seven years on, Mac & Wild continues to feed Londoners with some of the wildest, most delicious meat in the world, along with a carefully selected variety of seasonal Scottish produce from handpicked suppliers and producers from the Highlands.
The food was good however you would expect the steaks at a steak restaurant to be cooked to perfection and they weren’t. Our steaks were waaaaay overcooked saved only by the good quality
What a wonderful place. The food was delicious, especially the starter. We can't wait to return.
Booked a business lunch for 2 at the start of March and must say was pleasantly surprised with the establishment and will definitely be back again and will be trying dinner this time to enjoy a whisky or two.
Outstanding!! Food was excellent service superb ambience wonderful!
Disappointing value, nice burger & fries plus two drinks = approx £35 per head!
Good Scottish food, and a great dessert! Comfort food at its best.
Food was ok; it was fairly quiet at peak lunchtime on a Tuesday so staff were painfully slow or just nowhere to be seen. It took 30 mins to pay the bill.
Fabulous steaks and decent service in a nice ambiance
Worst customer service I’ve had in London in five years- absolutely appalling experience.
Would not recommend going here for food of a weekend as the staff are rude and inattentive. I had booked for a group of seven via Open Table ticking the ‘set menu’ option and upon arrival we were told that it was not available, that the man ‘knew his menu’ and to take it up with Open Table. No effort to accommodate despite us having the booking confirmation that said what had been offered at the point of booking. It was all down to money but they refused to admit this to be the case. The man was extremely rude and spoilt the mood of the evening from the off. If there’d only been two of us I would have walked out straight away.
Ordered food, food was perfectly lovely but waitress serving seemed unsure what was what and one of the sides didn’t show up until we’d finished everything else so it was of no use to us. Toilets hadn’t been cleaned and bins were overflowing with tissue paper. All I can think is that they have different staff midweek and don’t care about weekend clientele, otherwise I can’t imagine them getting any returning customers
My friend and I went to Mac and wild for her birthday celebration. It was on a Monday therefore we were able to take advantage of the meaty Monday offer and received 50% off our chateau venison. It was beautifully cooked and a great deal.
Service was excellent. Definitely recommend and will return.
Excellent venison. The Monday half price offer certainly easing the high cost of the meal
Enjoyed the restaurant. Everything was excellent but felt it was too expensive for the type of restaurant it is. There is a set menu offer but it wasn't mentioned. Would go back.
The food was surprisingly mediocre this time. I’d been before and it was great. I suspect they’re a bit hit and miss. We went on a Monday and perhaps they don’t put out their best stuff then.
For a team meal/ fun evening out this is certainly the perfect city in the spot. Hidden in lovely Devonshire square, it has delicious steak/ red meat on the menu. The restaurant is loud and when we arrived most steaks were sold out but the beef steakand chips was good. Quality, decent price but nothing fancy.
Went for the set menu and it was definitely worth the price you pay. The meat was so good and so was the rest of the food. Worth a visit for sure.
Food was lovely but service could have been a little bit better. The restaurant wasn’t that busy but we had to wait 15 minutes for waitress to bring us a bottle of Prosecco. Then we asked for a dessert menus and no one came to get the orders until we pointed it out 20 minutes later.
Staff clearly lost interest as soon as we decided to have the specials menu. Didn’t even bother coming over to see if we wanted dessert
Food and atmosphere was nice and we all enjoyed it. However, we've soend more than 2 hours for lunch there, of which more than half was waiting for food or trying to get attention of waiters.
Everything was good, just lacked on the service side.
Brilliant service!! One of our party was late and no-one ever rushed us which meant we still enjoyed our evening :) The food was amazing...I would definitely recommend :)
Friendly staff and delicious food! We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.
Good menu but service charge a bit over the top - nice overall
We did the set menu and it was excellent food for a good price. The portions may look small but they certainly fill you up.
Casual dining. I was led to believe this was amazing food so a little disappointed. Food is basic and tasty but not amazing. Service was very helpful and friendly. Nice place for casual relaxed dining.
Stunning restaurant with food to match. Service just a little slow, but nothing to put me off. Steaks were excellent, cocktails good, and decor beautiful.
We had a lovely time at Mac and Wilf. Great food and fantastic service. a little jem in the city of london.
Lovely meal again. Great atmosphere and amazing meats cooked to perfection.
Always a perfect steak. Haven’t found better yet.
The service was good but the food was fantastic, Haggis Pops are just perfect and the Venison topside was superb
Great lunch experience
Food was outstanding but unfortunately the service was not as expected. We were seated quickly but felt forgotten about and had to wait some time before even being served for drinks. No one checked to see how the meal was. Whilst the food was good. Standard of Service was below what I would expect of a place like this.
Came for the pancake day special and even tho they had officially sold out they managed to make one extra for us! Amazing service and all the food was delicious :)
Service was a bit slow towards the end, food was amazing particularly the burgers. For the love of god open a window or get some fans, it gets so stuffy in there.
Good food, interesting decor. Too difficult to get the attention of waiting staff though. Really interferes with conversation as you try to attract someone’s attention.
Beautiful venison and steak, especially good on a Monday when half price.
Still prefer the deep fried mars bar Sunday without bacon
The lights could be less bright to make it even better but fabulous food and drinks!
Unfortunately we had a rude waitress that when we said we had booked an opentable deal she said that we couldn’t have (as did the manager who hadn’t heard of open table) and only once I showed her on my phone did she believe me (this despite someone calling me earlier in the day to move my reservation forward as the booking times on open table were wrong). Menu finally sorted we were brought the cocktails which were both extremely watery and very unpalatable, the waitress gave the explanation that they were pre-mixed(!) so they couldn’t be wrong, it must be us!. We ordered a bottle of wine instead, whilst waiting for the wine, the waitress brought over our plates and showed her dislike of us by slamming them on the table. We had haggis pops for starters which were generally ok but we decided to leave because the wine still hadn’t arrived (20 minutes and another request later despite the bar being a few metres away) and due to the poor service and not great food. We spoke to the manager who, to be fair, seemed to at least acknowledge our terrible service and said that there was no bill to pay, and wished that we would come again but frankly if it’s serving pre-mixed cocktails, I doubt the freshness of the food it serves (I’m guessing the haggis pops were from the freezer..despite the restaurant having a butcher counter on site - perhaps just for show?). Very disappointing as it is a good concept
Great place for a business lunch or a casual get together with friends. Excellent burgers and steaks!
I had heard v good things about Mac and Wild (admittedly not the City one) and was disappointed. They had run out of lots of items on the menu and those that were left were largely overcooked and underseasoned. Starters were better than mains. Service was unprofessional and the diners somehow felt like an inconvenience to the staff who were busy socialising/drinking. It might be that it would be much better on a weeknight when the business diners are there, on a weekend the experience was poor and I wouldn't go again.
Fantastic eve with great food and cocktails. Thanks
Wonderful value with 50% off butchers cuts on Monday. We had the venison chateaubriand and it was perfectly cooked with a delicious side of potatoes and winter veg. It was busy so service was not as attentive as usual - nobody to greet and take your coat on entering the restaurant.
Overall, excellent food and we’ll be back soon.
