We hunt for deer on the tops of mountains – miles from civilisation as you know it! When it’s plentiful we eat well & when numbers dwindle we delight in other dishes. We hope you will understand if the amount of venison we have in stock varies.
Was really excited about visiting M&W - however it was a real disappointment. Burger was dry, overpriced. Wouldn’t return in a hurry.
Was really looking forward to try, doesn’t live up to its instagram. Service was good staff friendly and helpful. Tables pushed in to the maximum upstairs downstairs more enjoyable, to a point as the place does feel unloved and a little dirty. (Toilet,told staff twice to towels to dry hands. Nothing done during our time)
The food was good, burger was dry and by the time all the food came out fries were cold.
Dessert, sticky toffee pudding cake dry and flavourless icecream. The frites snickers were nice but pancakes dry as well.
Overall fun evening, just was hoping to be as good as looks.
Friendly service. The food was fantastic! I had the venison chateaubriand which was cooked and salted perfectly. The veggie and tatties I got on the side were flavorful. Dessert was a great finish. Loves the whiskey selection.
Will definitely return and have already told several people that this is a must visit. Also bonus points for it being a great experience as a solo diner.
Great food. Need to sharpen up the selection of non-alcoholic drinks, eg beers and virgin cocktails.
Pleasant brunch, fast service and a cosy restaurant. Would recommend it for brunch and look forward to trying supper
Small venue with nice touches that take your mind to rural Scotland. Friendly and efficient service. Starters: venison scotch egg, excellent; and haggis tacos, an interesting - though not entirely successful - experiment. Mains: 1.1 kg tomahawk steak with courgette side. A sweet meat, cooked to perfection, but lacking some of the flavour depth and richness of the very best steaks. Enjoyable nonetheless, and well accompanied by the sweet, spicy, oily courgettes. Desserts: don't be silly. Drinks: whisky and wine, both good. Excellent value in the "Meaty Monday" promotion. I shall definitely return to try the other butcher's cuts. Recommend.
Have been before and the burger was DELICIOUS. This time it had no flavour and I didn’t even finish it. Very disappointing. I let the team know and they did take it off our final bill but not sure we’ll be rushing back again. Shame!
The venison and beef chateaubriand was excellent. Sauces were really nice just not enough. Sides were ok, the rosemary potatoes had no rosemary flavour. Courgettes were nice but also very greasy.

Went for the Scottish breakfast which we were REALLY looking forward to. As a couple of Glaswegians living away from home you can’t imagine the potato scone and lorne (Square) sausage cravings we regularly have on a Sunday.
Now, I’m not sure what that was on my plate but it was not a potato scone. It was soggy like an uncooked pancake and basically inedible. The bacon (Streaky? Really?) and eggs were undercooked. The black pudding and haggis were average at best and the beans were cold. The lorne sausage was quite nice but it was all I ate. So I basically payed £14 for one square sausage. We won’t be back. Service was slow too. Someone should tell the chef to go to Scotland and eat a potato scone so he/she knows what one is. Pronto.
I’ll end on a positive. The coffee was lovely.
Absolutely lovely however the OpenTable app didn't register with them....thankfully they managed to make space for us and were super nice, but just a warning to maybe book brunch directly rather than through this app in the future. (They said it's happened before and tends to be on a Saturday)
The steak is amazing here...!!! And the service absolutely spot on - very knowledgeable and/or willing to check in the kitchen for ingredients, remembered who had the food allergy, took time to explain the menu to us and let us take out take to make our minds up. The bill of over £200 for four people without any alcoholic drinks was quite a lot, but still, for a treat, I’d go again.
Very interesting atmosphere! Very vibrant, bustling, chatty, quite loud, really relaxed, with some bright lighting and lots, lots of deer-related decor. I think the tall, narrow high ceiling invites a very open atmosphere, and the tables being close seem to make things seem cosy and more chat-able, rather than uncomfortable.
The most interesting thing though, was the sign in the toilet to do with… usage of substances! Apparently, it’s necessary there?
The food was quite nice. Simple in most aspects, and the meats cooked well. Not too interesting though I suppose, but not in a negative way. You go to a steak house, and it’s not exactly meant to be interesting, in most cases. One slight hitch was that the sticky toffee pudding was dry. It is one of those desserts that can easily mask the dryness since it’s all swimming in sauce and melted ice cream, but it can’t detract from the fact that the sponge was not cooked very well, regardless of any retro-fixing that was done.

The venison burger is delicious and my sister had the vegan burger, which was so yummy! Not often you mind a meat restaurant making a good quality vegan substitute. Some of the staff seemed new and junior but service was pretty good and there's a fun atmosphere.
Finally, some good steak in London. Burger was also very well made.

Visited on what turned out to be a very quiet Tuesday evening to start with but it certainly did get busier and it is a popular place.
I was attending as a work dinner with a client and I felt the ribeye steak wasn't as a good as it could be. I ordered mine medium rare and it was a little overcooked perhaps. My client ordered his well done and it was still visibly pink but he didn't make a fuss.
Also felt expensive for the bone marrow gravy which was just a tiny pot for £4
But I would probably return to try it again.

My guest and I had an extremely enjoyable lunch at Mac & Wild on Tuesday 6th August. The scotch egg was delicious as was the chateaubriand we shared. Great service especially from Phil who was great company as well. We will be back.....
Terrible experience, they got my order wrong 3 times and the food that was served was lacklustre.
The chateaubriand is very good however the waiter recommended we went for 300g per person which was way too much (200g per person would have been plenty). At £14 per 100g this meant that our total bill for 3 courses with wine and service cost £175 for 2 people. This is frankly a ridiculous amount to pay for steak and chips!
Great service; very welcoming; best ever Scotch Egg; and a pretty neat whisky selection, which Inunfortunately didn’t get to trial. So I’ll be back!

I have been here often to try their excellent burgers.
This time as it was discount Monday, which gives big discounts on prime steaks, I decided to go for a prime steak. How disappointed I was when my 450gram arrived and turned out to be max. about 200gram. Portions were smaller than stated weights, so basically they are giving you a false idea of discount.
Most importantly the chateaubriand was ordered medium, arrived raw in the centre and overdone on the outside. When mentioned to the waitress she mumbled/sort of apologised and took it back to the kitchen. 5 minutes later it arrived back, well done/overcooked.
Such a fantastic and simple concept, but so badly executed. Shame, I won’t be back.
It was a passable lunch, the haggis nibbles were under cooked and pretty tasteless, no peppery flavour. The venison ok but tasted of very little, needed to be hung for longer. The Rib eye was excellent. Service was good and atmosphere of restaurant was nice.
Amazing food and service, always come back to here as it is awesome.... burger deserves its best London burger title especially for £12! The venison is amazing as well!

Staff, service and food was great. Our booking had not been communicated to the restaurant from Opentable though. The staff kindly moved some reservations around and luckily there was space so that we could be seated.
Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service and superb staff! The staff was friendly and were patient with one member of our group whose command of English was not that great without making him feel bad.

We had the sharing platter that is £65 per person. Took about an hour to arrive. Stone cold venison. Over boiler lobster. Sauce had long since congealed. Embarrassing. We never usually complain but given the hefty price tag we couldn’t help it. When complimentary drinks didn’t cut it, the Manager reluctantly agreed to not charge us for the meal. He has my thanks for that, but we’ll never be going back there.
Waiters very friendly and accommodating (especially to my gluten intolerance). Not loads of options for gluten allergy (no starter options at all) but i was still able to eat very well. Steak was brilliant.
We got to the restaurant at the time of booking and were stopped at the door by an employee as we were heading out of the rain. We were greeted with a “can I help you?” while still outside. I proceeded to tell him that I have a booking under my name. The employee replied “just so you know, the kitchen closes in 15 minutes”. Confused as to why the restaurant kitchen would close at 5pm, 15 minutes after my reservation began, I asked “what does that mean for us?”. The employee replied “well you get your order in fast”. Naturally I was angry at the manner in which we were spoken to.
We were sat down on an unprepared table, with the employee laying the cutlery down, crossing our faces with his elbows. Approximately one minute after sitting down, the same employee asked us “have you decided what you want?”. To which I said “we’ve barely seen the menu”.
One of my worst dining experiences, which ruined our special occasion.
After a fairly decent experience with burger a few weeks earlier, I took a friend for a different meal with venison meat.
Chateaubriand is definitely their top cut but a bit too expensive for that night's budget: it would have been 25-30 pounds each for a 450g steak to share. We opted for the standard round steak instead.
150g is quite a small quantity so I don't recommend. It also took almost half an hour to get the food (consider we arrive at 21.45 and started to eat at 22.20 when they should close 10 mins late, being the last clients we felt we had to rush but - to be honest - they didn't say anything about closing time so I appreciated).
On the other hand, my total praise for bread, mash and chips: all excellent and well priced.
Really lovely service from all the staff but delay and not impressing meat take out the fifth star.

Very impressed by the seasonal menu and food traceability. The restaurant deserves it's accolade as serving the best burger in London (Beef & Venison - superb). The beer, wine & whisky list is well-chosen and service is efficient & friendly. The only downside is that it is a small place and the tables are too close together.
