Macellaio RC Fitzrovia
We offer only products of excellence from the best Italian companies such as Fassona beef, charcuterie, delicious cheeses and a quite extensive selection of Italian wines. When selecting them, we want to praise not only the product itself but -above all- the work of the artisans workers that are behind them.
The beef selection takes place from small farms located between Monforte d'Alba, Serralunga, Roddi and Alba, where each animal is treated with respect.
And our façon d-être, of course, the typical Italian way: a warm familiar greeting the willingness to provide the best service, like when entering in an old Trattorie of 'Bel Paese'…
Welcome and feel like home!
Tolles Restaurant mit fantastischem Service und sehr guter italienischer Küche. Besonders zu empfehlen für Fleischliebhaber.
The service is very good with nice and polite staff. The ambiance is a little empty. Food is nice. Big disappointment because the wine list is different from the brother restaurant in South Kensington where you can have fantastic wines by the glass such as tignanello and ca del bosco. I would definitely go back to macellaio.... in South Kensington.
The steak was good, the pizza was ok, not amazing.
The table was a bit small and in a crowded area of the restaurant.
The menu idea is nice but a bit not convenient.
Overall a nice dinner.
made a late reservation
good service and good food
Perfectly cooked steak, amazing pizza, great service. Definitely recommend this
It’s wonderful. Highly recommend to anyone. Enjoy
Amazing food, amazing staff
Nice pizzas and wine, simple presentation and done well. Maybe a slightly limited menu, but what we had was tasty.
I think this ranks as one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. Arrogant, uninterested and what seems dishonest waitstaff. Poorly managed. Just no. We arrived and sat down. 45 minutes later I asked if we could order drinks and food. 20 minutes later we ordered. When our order was being taken for drinks I enquired about the primitivo wine and the waiter was pushing for the £50+ bottles.... i asked what about the red wine in the happy hour. Oh yes, that was a primitivo. Okay, we will have 8 glasses.he goes away and returns to tell us that isn’t primitivo. Oh no, that’s a horrid vinegar tasting merlot. No thanks. Back to the primitivo.
The waiter reluctantly took our order and after taking the first two orders disappeared for ten minutes. No apologies given and no reasons. He just walked off leaving 6 of us wondering “what just happened”.
One of the guests reported 5 times that there was a pile of plates and cups by him that needed clearing. The waiter just ignored him. Nice. The food arrived. I’ve been to the restaurant in Southwark and the food was good (so was the service). Here, the carpaccio was tough. The steak, Nothing special. The steak tartare and the pizza’s were okay. No one asked if we wanted any sauces and we found items brought to us that we didn’t even order!!! I can understand a mistake, but this was either poor order taking because of waiter’s disinterest, or perhaps they thought we wouldn’t notice?
We wanted to leave and I had notified them it was a birthday and it took a further 40 minutes and 6 requests to bring the cake we had got.
No thank you. There are plenty of good restaurants else where that serve good food with a smile.
We went to Macellaio RC at Fitzrovia few days ago which I think it was Big mistake!
I have been to Macellaio RC at South Kensington and Union Street many times and I love it, especially the South Kensington branch! Great atmosphere, amazing food and reasonable priced. Tried many of their starter, steaks and wine, they are always good.
Unfortunately, our experience at the Fitzrovia branch was awful! I was so looking forward to it before going but after our starter, I was so disappointed and didn't even want to finish our meal there.
Firstly, it was our mistake to order two glasses of House Red Wine which normally we would have ordered a decent bottle of wine. We were thinking to start with the house wine and order a nicer bottle for the meal, since the house wine was in their happy hour 2-4-1 offer. The House Red was absolutely disgusting, it was worse than cheap pub wine! We don't expect House wine to be good but as a restaurant famous for their steaks, I thought the house wine will be at least drinkable. After a tiny sip to try it we didn't touch the wine for the whole evening.
Then our starter came, L'imperiale was the reason I wanted to go to Macellaio that evening. I was so disappointed and sad when I saw it, not only its at least 1/3 smaller than the one at South Kensington but also the quality of the meat was really not good. The tartare and capaccio were so dull, they looked more grey than red. I was so disappointed that I didn't even want our main course but since we have already ordered, we stayed too finish our meal.
I was hoping the T-bone would at least make it worthwhile for us to spend our evening there. However, another big disappointment! They put so much salt on the steak that every bite was full of rock salt even though I tried to scrapped aside as much as possible.
So we definitely will not go to the Fitzrovia branch again. I would still recommend the South Kensington and Union Street Macellaio RC though.
Had dinner with a large group of friends, we found the service to be rushed throughout to the point that the waiter forgot to ask a number of us how we would like our steak's cooked. Overall we found the food to ok but not worth coming back for.
Amazing service, the staff looked after us but without being insistent like it happens in other places in London. They ve been really nice, polite and friendly.
I’ve been to Il macellaio before but in exmouth market, absolutely brilliant also there.
This is the last location that has been open in london and it does satisfy the high expectations I had and my foreign friends loved it.
Underwhelmed, overpriced for what it is. Not what I expected.
Excellent food, great service and amazing selection of meat. Highly recommend this place
I was looking forward to having dinner here, after my first dinner at Maxellâ in my native hometown, Genoa, years ago.
Unfortunately our dinner has been fairly disappointing.
It all started perfectly, as my wife’s burrata and my tartare (battuta all’Albese) were awesome. However, our mains were flawed. My wife’s pasta with pesto was incredibly salty, while my rump steak, a tiny portion, should have come with gorgonzola and walnuts but it came just with some cubes of sea salt. When I pointed out the missing cheese and walnuts, my dish was taken and given back with a lump of cold gorgonzola and some walnuts. Not exactly the sort of meat with melting cheese that I was, maybe wrongly, expecting.
The desserts were good, as well as the wine and the dessert wines, but all wines are truly expensive and the total bill, which includes a service charge too, is close to a one Michelin star Italian restaurant that we know in our new hometown, Maidenhead, and which is way better than this one.
Definitely completely different from the original Maxellâ that I knew in Genoa, somehow pretentious unlike the very basic style of the Genoa restaurant, and all background music was just reggaeton which has no relationship whatsoever with the original context of all food served there.
Very good food and very prompt and friendly service. The steaks were delicious and were cooked to perfection. Comparable to what you would find in other top end steak restaurants in London (Goodmans etc). Limited choice of sides though which was a bit disappointing. Having said that, the hispi cabbage was pretty good. A pint of beer at £7 was a bit steep I thought.
Steak tartare is too dry and bland, steak is very good but feels more oven cooked than properly charred (fat isn’t rendered at all), sides are far too small - need to be 3x the size. Staff are lovey but only one speaks English well enough to explain the menu.
The place is very nice , and the meat is fantastic .
The only place in London for a Florentina Bistecca.
Great food (had meat only as starter and main, but everything else looked great from pastas to pizza). Negative note is the wine, overpriced also for Central London standards
Excellent service, food wonderful. A lot less formal than the other Macellaio branches. Sitting outside was glorious on a sunny day. Would definitely come again.
Fantastic food and service, only two notes to make: there was quite a wait between starters and mains (and not all mains were served together), and the first three wines I asked were actually not available. However, once again, everything else was great, they even arranged a brownie to be served as a cake for my friend’s birthday.
Very good food and amazing staff!!
Best steak I had in London so far.
Nicola and Giovanna were very prepared and nice.
The meat is outstanding as well as appetisers has "Burrata".
Highly recommended. Fair price
Excellent food, very friendly staff, highly recommended
Super delicious food and a decent wine by the glass menu! We will definitely be back!
Excellent food and friendly but professional service!
Interesting concept and very nice meat! Ambience slightly too noisy for us and we found the music too loud.
