MACELLAIO RC UNION STREET is the new chapter of our company: the restaurant is a theatre with its stage where all the sections are visible for the guests to enjoy what happens behind the walls. Alongside with our already known Fassona beef, we have added the Bakery. We do PISSA not Pizza, which was invented before it following old Liguria traditions. Actually, pizza was first cooked in Italy for Andrea Doria, an important Admiral of Genoa’s Republic, before the discovery of America. At the beginning pissa was only seasoned with anchovies, olives and onion and matured for an average of 60 to 90, using strong flour that helps the dough to rise slowly at fridge temperature with a small quantity of natural yeast. This results in a tastier pissa. Moreover, we do Focaccia di Recco: a very thin layer of dough made just with flour, Liguria olive oil and with Stracchino cheese in the middle. Come and lose yourself in this culinary journey full of flavours, history and passion.

Our second visit to the RC.
We are fans of good Italian food and our expectations were met
Great atmosphere and the staff were fun and attentive
Good choice of wine with an excellent recommendation from the staff

The steak there is excellent but unfortunately their sides are ridiculously small. Our mash potatoes were only two spoonfuls

Nice Resturant, good service. Reasonably priced wine list. Outstanding steak - leagues ahead of most of the the usual London steak offers.

Had a superb evening. Possibly the best steak in London (had the T bone) and great wine list all reasonably priced. Service was excellent.

Very well prepared but the portion sizes of the /100g steaks are too large for just 2 really, which feels wasteful.

Visited the restaurant with a couple of friends and we were greeted very warmly. We shared a 1.2kg T-bone steak and it was wonderfully cooked to perfection. The range of beef on offer is excellent and the dry aging is superb.

The services was not intrusive - it was just right. I’m very glad to have visited this restaurant as it was a very welcome surprise. I will definitely be returning.

I went to macellaio for my birthday. I have been before to the place and i loved it. The meat is fresh and they have a good list of wines. It is a bit expensive but the quality of the food is excellent. The place is cosy and the waitress are very friendly. Very recommended

I’ve been to two Macellaio branches so far- Exmouth Market and Union Street. Both different in vibe but equally great!

Love the staff, service and most importantly the food. They take feedback really well and make every effort to fix it. Good quality food with the right pricing structure makes it a winning choice. I’ve yet to be disappointed here!

Been here about five times and the food is always good. We sat outside for the first time which was lovely and i also tried the dessert for the first time which was also great. The only thing i did not enjoy that much was the ravioli dish-i always order the tagliatelle they are amazing, the rabioli were a bit dry and the meat a bit chewy.steak and focaccia were lovwly

So the food is really nice but there just enough of it. Rump steaks weigh in at 180g which is pretty small. The meat is definitely good quality and well cooked but even with sides and a dessert each we were not really full. The fennel and orange salad was really good but could have had more orange, potatoes were also really good as was the basil pannacotta. Apple cake needed more caramel sauce. Wine was ok but at £21 for a 500ml carafe it really should be no? Music was terrible but weather was nice so we sat outside, when the sliding windows got closed and we couldn’t hear the music it was much better. Food is really nice and they do know their meat but the portions detract from the quality and overall experience as it was the smallest steak either of us have ever been served, tapas style portion.

Excellent food, particularly the steaks and not too big portions of meat. We had a steak tartare with gorgonzola and balsamic vinegar, which was delicious. Friendly staff and the wine list was excellent an fairly reasonable. We had a delicious bottle of Negroamaro. A nice neighbourhood restaurant and we will definitely be back again.

3rd visit, superb each time. Previously had the rib, this time the T-bone, outstanding meat. What I like most is the variety on the menu as the Missus doesn’t eat meat, but here there are excellent pasta options plus the Ligurian bakery. Nice wine list too and good value for money.

The waitress suggested us to order products from the bakery and fortunately we have ordererd the tartare that was good, not the meatball with chocolate. on the main she also suggested the "Fiorentina" as they have their own way to age meat. She showed us the 800gr. Fiorentina before cooked, and when arrived it stank of old or cheap meat. The steak boarder was black and couldn't eat it. More than 50£ for a steak that I could eat only 50-60%.
2 persons: 100£ (2 starters, 500ml wine, 1 800gr. steak, 1 potato mash very small)

Very nice restaurant and definitely delivers on the meat side. This is definitely not a place if you are not a meat eater as the meat is hanging as decoration behind the class, we thought this was ok though, but some people may be bothered. We really enjoyed the food and the drinks were good too, service was absolutely lovely. It is bit on pricey side, could get something similar elsewhere with much less, but for special nights it's still nice as the whole experience with the attentive service makes up for the prices. So overall I would recommend :)

We saw that restaurant as winner of Italian series "4 Ristoranti" from Alessandro Borghese on 2016.
It definitely deserves that reward!
The meat is tasteful, tender and delicious. Only well matured and local Fassona. Fabulous!
Best cooking is rare or medium-rare
All sides are very good and well served. Hand maded Focaccia as well.
Wine list offers several choices even at glass. The wines are a bit expensive.
Service is kind and they explain perfectly the way they made all the dishes in the menu.
One weaky point is timing of serving. They should speed up a bit and avoid the meat standing on 'the pass' for more than 5 minutes. The meat can overcook or cool down...
100% promoted. I will come back there when I will be in London again. For sure.
