Nice place in the Jewish area, good ambiance, good food, good service. Noise level a little bit too low and some problems at payment because cards were not working (but we were advised when we arrived). Recommended

Nice restaurant, in the Jewish area of Budapest. Nice atmosphere, even if the noise level was high (but mainly because of some big tables with noisy people). Service was polite and accurate. Food was good (even if we did not take some of the elaborated dishes in the menu) and presentation was OK. If I have to make a remark, probably wine price was a little bit over Budapest standards, and without a lot of local offers. Also dishes were little bit over-priced, but the level is OK. Worth a visit.

We have been going to Macesz with family for many years and I have been always recommending it to my friends who were visiting Hungary from abroad. The last time I was here with my husband in June and we loved the food. Then for some month we didn’t go. We visited it again at the end of October with the whole family and we were very much disappointed: they changed the menu many nice things were taken out, the portions become smaller for the same price, the bread basket that once contained at least 4 kinds of amazing bread had some thin slices of stale bread inside... the list could go on but I will stop here. Overall a very disappointing experience. We won’t be back again. Please bring back the previous chef, he was great!

we come to this restaurant every since for the last 5 years. it is always very good. This time however, we had booked via opentable and 30mn before they cancelled the booking. We still decided to go and the girl explained that she wanted to let us know that the table would only be free at 9pm. So all in all no issue but quite weird the way they handled the booking.

For a long time I did not feel so deceived in a Restaurant, deceived with wine, the service, if it is for me, that no one goes.

A great evening with wonderful food that made me nostalgic for my childhood. The service was a little slow, cold and abrupt to start off with but ended well. Overall good excperience.

Starters were excellent, mains less good. Main issue was with the bill at the end. We were presented with a VAT summary rather than the itemised bill. When we asked the waiter if service was included and to see the itemised bill he was displeased. The itemised bill was eventually found for us screwed up by the till. Service was included in the total we had been given.

Very good restaurant in the middle of the Pest side and around the corner from good nightlife. The service was amazing, thanks to the waiter for helping out with the wine choice and making us feel so comfortable. Food was really nice asit was good to try some good Hungarian cuisine. Terrific traditional Hungarian restaurant with excellent food.

Every single course with the matching wine pairing was perfect. The service and food was the best we have experienced throughout the 5 years we have been coming back to Budapest. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to have an amazing meal for a special occasion or just somewhere to have exceptional food in a relaxed environment.

The aircon was too much but turned down when we asked. Two very loud groups made impossible to talk to each other.
