Delicious tea and a great idea. Slightly too sweet for my taste. Ideal for someone with a very sweet tooth.

I loved the use of of the music boxes as sugar holders and clever ways you made all the table ware seem to come from Wonderland. We do wish our server would have been more attentive with the tea service itself specifically, but otherwise - very good!

I had high hopes for tea here after reading about it on social media. The unique teas were very nice. The gluten free food was better than most other places I’ve tried but the service was not good at all. It sort of felt like an assembly line, not a restaurant. They sat us. Brought the pre made plates, the tea & forgot we were there. The same was true for the table next to us. Someone dropped off their food but waiter never came back to explain it and they had to ask for tea twice, which didn’t arrive until they were finished with the savory course. It was my friend’s birthday. I made a note of this in the booking and told the waiter when we arrived. He said they would do something special. They forgot, which was a little disappointing. Not the end of the world but for nearly £50, you expect a certain level of service & this place is just not it.

I would agree with many of the comments here. The food was nice enough, the service fine, location fine. Basically it was OK. I was disappointed with the lack of theme and felt they could and should do much more bearing in mind that's how they advertise it. The ambience was a bit lacking and those arriving all go to the wrong place due to lack of signage. I felt the music was not right for the venue and too loud. It's expensive for what it is. I won't go again and wouldn't recommend it when there are better choices available.

I would like to thank the Sanderson for a fantastic afternoon tea experience. We had a number of dietary requirements (1 coeliac, 1 vegan) and not only was the hotel accommodating, they were able to deliver amazing quality and variety of foods for those with specialist dietary needs.
Our waiter even took the time to explain that our food may take a little longer to prepare, so they could ensure there was no cross-contamination for my friend who is coeliac.
An absolutely amazing afternoon - thank you so much to The Sanderson, you rock!

Very expensive for what is offered. As the tea theme is Alice in Wonderland we had expected the environment to reflect that in some way, it didn't. Service was ok when we first arrived, and orders taken, however after that nothing, we had to get the attention of the waiter just for refreshing the tea. They did acknowledge the birthday we were celebrating as I requested which I was pleased about, but having eaten afternoon tea in all the best hotels in London the Dorcester, Ritz etc this experience fell very short

Awful service, not attentive, and no ambience... to say it was a themed Alice in Wonderland tea, is stretching the imagination.. not worth the money!

Food was lovely, however lacked service - despite them automatically adding 15% charge. Had to move tables as got seated by the serving desk which was quite disruptive. As did the booking that came in after us and got put there. We had to ask for more tea & coffee as no one came to see if we required anything else. Overpriced for what it is.

Disappointed with service, we had to ask 3 times for tea to be refilled and initially we didn’t order cocktails but then asked for the me u again ... it never came
Initially we were talked through the experience but that felt scripted and not at all individual
15% automatic service charge seems pretty high for low level service
Having stayed and eaten at the Sanderson before I expected more, shame

Took my girlfriend for our anniversary as she loves Alice in Wonderland. Overall experience was excellent. Food was brilliant but more so the cakes, felt the savoury items could have been slightly better and maybe more as it felt very sweet heavy. Scones were amazing and so was the tea selection - real thought put in to this. Would loved a bit more decoration in line with the theme but overall we really enjoyed ourselves.

Fun tea spread! Service was a bit slow, but it seemed like they had one waiter covering the entire outdoor seating area. Lots of tea blends to choose from, and tea is unlimited so you can try many, but it took quite a while for ours to arrive each time we ordered a refill. Overall, fun experience and beautiful hotel setting.

A really unique lovely experience. Really pleased we got to sit in the courtyard as don’t think it would have been quite the same in the restaurant. Every member of staff were so lovely. That really made the experience. I had a vegan afternoon tea - the cakes were lovely.

I chose this one as I was taking my 5 year old daughter but felt they could have catered towards the children much more - colouring pencils and themed colouring in book and food more suitable for children. Food was nice, Hotel was nice but felt they could have done more.

Lovely ambiance but for the cost of the tea you could have a better experience elsewhere. The sweets need to be improved and they should offer some kind of trinket for the kids tea.

Had an amazing afternoon tea here. We were lucky enough to be seated in the garden area, I think I may have been a little sad if we had had to eat indoors. Food and tea was of a high standard and the service was very good indeed. A 15% discretionary charge was added, which came to quite a lot, but as the service had been so good I was happy to pay.

This was a treat for my daughter passing her A levels & I had written this information on our booking & I called the previous day to our visit to see if anything special could be arranged. Well nothing was arranged , apparently there can be a celebration plate & cake ( which you can’t take home as no boxes are provided) I did ask where her cake was but it was then noted at the end of our visit , so not really worth it. The sandwiches are unpleasant- we also had my 10 year old with us & just a few basic children’s sandwiches would be nice but that is not on offer so she didn’t eat any at all. To be honest it is a disappointment and I would not recommend the trip , the staff are friendly but that is all I can say is a positive. It is very expensive (£144) for 4 people with no real vibe of the mad hatter some paper hats on tea pots ( like a crown ) and heart shaped biscuits, considering how it is advertised it really isn’t up to much & I would never go again.

Lovely staff, beautiful atmosphere. Food was ok, not amazing. They got our order wrong (I ordered pescatarian afternoon tea) and they brought and took away our afternoon tea twice. Little things like china was chipped, we didn’t get the crowns for our teapots like everyone else, some things like the fruit drink and champagne we had to ask for as it didn’t arrive with the food. All just little details but for the price you do expect everything to be perfect. Saying that though couldn’t fault the staff and the venue was beautiful, just for the price you expect a bit more attention to detail.

Due to allergies I had some replacements, and I was absolutely happy with those. Firstly that I got such high class substitutes and secondly because one of my replacement sweets was my favourite. Mad Hatter's Tea was a terrific experience, and I would love to come again.

Sanderson's was grossly over priced for an afternoon tea. And we could admire the beautiful garden but couldn't be seated in it, although there were empty tables. The high stools were uncomfortable and wobbly. The tea itself was good, however the treats were okay, We paid 48£ per person and could not even get a box to take alot of the goodies we could not finish home to the guys. I was very disappointed at the 278£ bill, tip was added automatically for 38£, which service was not that great.only saw our server twice. Took our order brought our tea.

Fantastic from start to finish. My two young nieces were dressed as princesses and they were treated as such the moment we walked through the hotel reception doors. Food was phenomenal and the hotel was decorated beautifully. Nothing was too much trouble and the team were excellent. It is a tad expensive however it’s worth it as a rare treat. 10/10

It was rather windy outside, so it was quite chilly, which is out of the control of the hotel, but the finger food was quite nice, and the sweets divine. I would recommend seating outside on a nice sunny day in London (if you happen to visit during a sunny day) or sit inside which I feel I would have enjoyed my experience better.
