I took my cousin to the Mad Hatters afternoon tea as a special treat and it was amazing! The food was excellent and you could request more of anything on the menu, we loved the quails egg and croque monsieur so we were delighted to get some more of those! The teas were really fun and the decor/presentation was creative and really true to the theme. We were served by Kai (I think that’s the right spelling) and he was brilliant, very friendly and knowledgeable and he really made our visit special. Nothing was too much trouble and we were able to get extra clotted cream and water without a long wait. My only slight negative is that our table wasn’t outside in the garden which was a shame however next time I’ll try and request for us to be seated outside. Highly recommend this afternoon tea, I would say one of the best in London at the moment!
Just lovely. Wonderful outdoor seating area. Meticulous attention to detail.
We loved our afternoon tea! The food and tea was amazing. One thing to know, however, is you won’t be served for quite awhile. We waited about 45 minutes after ordering, which was fine, but no one updated us so we thought maybe they forgot our order.
We sat outside in the garden area which was nice except for the roaming pigeons. We were also sat by the water feature which made hearing each other talk very difficult. The food was lovely but we waited a long time for our tea to arrive and then again a very long wait for a top up of tea.
The food was very tasty however there was a lot of sweet items and it could do with one or two more savoury items to balance it out.
Overall a lovely afternoon out but very expensive for what you get.
Very nice. Bit prices but worth it for a lovely afternoon tea in a delightful place.
Fabulous afternoon tea experience at the Sanderson! Lovely attention to detail from the place settings to the themed teas and cocktails. Beautiful setting in the courtyard garden and fabulous service from our waiter who was friendly and explained the afternoon tea in detail. Food was beautifully presented and tasted as good. Definitely recommend!
Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea at Sandersons Hotel. We were seated in the courtyard area which added to the experience. The staff were welcoming & friendly. Our server explained all the components of the afternoon tea thoroughly. The afternoon tea itself was exquisite as was the attention to detail. All in all a very special and unique treat.
We were seated inside and not out in the courtyard area. That completely changed the experience. I know there’s no guarantee of being seated outside but to be honest it really wasn’t as special as I had thought and the photographs online make it look really amazing. It isn’t really. Left feeling meh about it.
The ambience was good but food very disappointing- sandwiches were not as fresh as they should have been. Cakes were mediocre- more style than substance. A disappointing visit,
Great High Tea experience. All the different food and tea offerings made this a second time visit. Our customer service was certainly better the first time, which is why I gave this visit a 4 star rating.
The food, atmosphere, and service were great! We had such a great time and would definitely recommend.
Excellent evening, fantastic service, tipsy afternoon tea a real treat.... thank you.
All of the food was fabulous and so well done .wait staff seemed a bit preoccupied- had to ask for several things like silverware and more tea.
Second visit both time bringing an overseas visitor . The sandwich selection was better this year so I was very impressed with it
The only real disappointment was that we could not sit in the courtyard as there was work going on out there
A disappointing experience for my husbands Father’s Day surprise treat. No hot drinks menus provided, not advised that we can have refill of sandwiches / sweets. Explained that one diner is not vegan but doesn’t have egg, and even after 3rd attempt just received vegan tea. Vegan tea is frankly awful, vegetarian not much better. You pay same amount of money for dry bread and scones with scant fillings as a non-veg who gets crab and salmon. Not good value for money, vegan treats clearly looked like an after thought. Unimpressed and have raised a complaint and awaiting response.
This was a nice afternoon tea and everything was presented very nicely but it was really expensive ( £250 for 3 adults and 2 children) and for that money I would expect an amazing experience and sadly it wasn’t.
We sat inside since we were told that it would take 20-30 mins for a table outside. Our food took so long to arrive that our tea wasn’t hot anymore during our meal. We understand that it was busy but would have appreciated if our server could have at least informed us what was going on instead of our group wondering if we have been forgotten. We wanted to ask for our check but our server was nowhere to be found.
Not as special as we were hoping for. For those in the know sitting out in courtyard would have been nicer than indoors.
Food selection was average. Not huge selection of savoury items including sandwiches although you could have more of what there was if you wanted. Lemon cake was not good however scones were delicious.
Very expensive really for what you got & lack of atmosphere inside.
The service was horrible. Waited for 30 minutes for tea after we had ordered and had to get manager involved to get it then. Some desserts were creative, tying in with the theme. However they were sloppy. The standard was not up to a cost. Beautiful setting
It was absolutely fantastic, delicious food and great service, thank you! :-)
There was a bit of issue at first as we were waiting to be seated, the manager? Or person responsible for handling that did not seem friendly at all, but afterwards the person that was waiting on us rescued the whole experience to be honest, he did an amazing job!
The food it self was ok, wasn't terrible and was not amazing, its the theme and experience that adds to the overal outcome of the visit. And that was pretty fun.
Would I come again?.. Maybe
Really fun experience. Over the top! Not an everyday thing but definitely wonderful for a special occasion.
This tipsy tea experience was even better than I expected! Everything was beautifully designed to fit the mad hatter vibes! This was definitely a first "afternoon tea" experience I won't soon forget.
Great food and setting. If I was rating only on those two factors, this would be a five star review. Service was slow, the OpenTable reservation didn't show up in the restaurant's system, and we were charged double what we were expecting based on the no-show deposit. We still enjoyed the experience overall.
Fun presentation of food and tea! Great concept. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Very fun experience with kids, we all had a great time.
Firstly we were informed several days before our afternoon tea, that valet parking was available but on our arrival, the entire road was blocked off due to roadworks- we weren’t even made aware of this and had to pay an additional £20 for parking. We arrived on time but due to parking difficulties, we ended up 45 minutes late and lost our reservation time. As this was a very special occasion, I was very annoyed as it ruined the experience.
The sweet items were nice however there were insufficient savoury items.
The Mad Hatters theme was quite clear and visible which was pleasing.
An awesome one off experience. An afternoon tea to stand out from any other.
The staff were very lovely and accommodating for our group, which included a baby. We were all delighted to hear that everything offered in the afternoon tea is refillable, within reason. We all enjoyed the toasted ham and cheese!
We had 2 people do the afternoon high tea. Overall it was a very fun experience. It seemed a bit pricey for the quality of the food we got but that should be expected for London afternoon tea.
We attended the afternoon tea on our last day in London. What a nice way to end our visit. The tea was very good and all of the savory items and sweets were delicious. The presentation of the treats was phenomenal. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was very nice in the garden area. I would highly recommend you attend one of their afternoon or evening teas.
For Alice in Wonderland fan this afternoon tea is absolutely no missing. The venue is very nice and silverware are fantastic. Food quality is excellent as well as for teas. I suggest it dispite the price a bit high but for me it absolutely worth.
Neat atmosphere and the Mad Hatter then was fun! Unfortunately we did not have great service, but the food and ambiance were worth the trip!
Beautiful decor and atmosphere and would definitely go again!
Ambiance, food, tea, etc. was lovely and exactly what was anticipated. The value for all of that seemed a bit much, to be honest. £110+ for two of us to have tea and pastries seemed quite a bit excessive. For a one time expenditure and outing it was absolutely fine, but if I were local I wouldn’t go back solely due to the prohibitive cost.
I had been to London 3 times but had never enjoyed an afternoon tea until this most recent trip. This trip I was traveling with my mom and 10 year old daughter and decided to reserve a tea time at Sanderson Hotel because of the unique theme. It did not disappoint! Every detail was considered ... the playing cards, the jewelry box, the drink me potion, etc. It was a wonderful escape from the usual touristy excursions. The food was absolutely delicious and played an integral part with the Mad Hatter theme. They do an amazing job of balancing the savory with the sweet. Highly recommend.
A great experience! From the presentation of the teas to the arrangement of the treats, every aspect of this Afternoon Tea was unique.
Early reservation was great for the solo patron and for first time tea. I felt obligated to eat everything on the tray but I'm glad I asked if I could take the remaining bites with me. Of all the items on the tray, only one was not fully consumed.
I am one of those people that takes photos of their dining experience but there was so much to take in, I had to resist the urge and just enjoy the moment.
The toast was probably the best toast I ever eaten. Tea was great! Service was super!
Disappointed in the chocolate cake.
This was my first time coming to afternoon tea and what a first experience this was. The staff were so lovely and friendly and were kind enough to explain what happened during an afternoon tea session.
The presentation was outstanding and the food was delicious.
I would definitely visit this again with family and friends.
