No value for money! High price poor selections. The name of the attraction is misleading... nothing to do with The hatter.... the food was mostly ok but not anything special and defenetly doesnt justified the high price.

For the price, I would skip tea here and spend the money at somewhere like the Savoy or Fortnum & Mason. Comparatively, I felt the service was not up to standard. There was nothing special about it and there were few simple savory options geared towards children. We were one of only two tables in the tea room at the time and had trouble gaining the attention of our server. We left disappointed that we spent so much after being excited to visit the Mad Hatter Tea.

A fun experience with the Mad Hatter theme and the service was great. However I felt the quality of food and drinks wasn’t quite good enough to recommend to a friend.

It seemed very mass market for the price. Hundreds of girls having the same average experience. It didn’t feel civilised & relaxing as an afternoon tea experience should be. It was a huge room, packed full of women & every 5 minutes another round of “happy birthday” would sound. We heard it 7 times during our visit. It truly was disappointing.

Arriving to the restaurant, there were no signs or direction as to where the tea would be taking place. When we figured out where to go, we were able to be seated right away. Once seated, we were greeted promptly, but then seemingly forgotten about. We were not informed that we could re-order more sandwiches or treats, but overheard this as another table was seated next to us. Although there were blankets provided, it was still extremely cold. The desserts were overwhelmingly sweet. The actual tea was fantastic, however, trying to get a tea refill was next to impossible. I feel as if the menu was extremely overpriced simply due to the name of the event and it being tied to Alice in Wonderland.

This was probably the worst afternoon tea I have ever had anywhere in the uk! Where to start?
No one at the door to direct us. The first impression was not good - afternoon tea served in an outdoor area with tatty awnings and outdoor heaters. We were placed in a bar area on high bar stools and a modern shiny bar table. This did not go with the Alice in wonderland theme. The menus were scruffy and stained in a book NOT A in W! Choice of 5 teas, but my husband had to ask about coffee. My teapot had a face with a paper hat. When the good arrive our waiter told us that someone would come and talk us through it - they did not come. The scones were dry only one plain one each, the jam was cheap tasting, not home made or quality. There were 2 sandwiches each, a warmed mini greasy cheese and ham toasty (Greggs do much better ones), and a crab and cucumber one. I had a mushroom marshmallow which was synthetic, I could not face the second one. My husband ate a sponge cake which was dry. There was a mini chocolate gateaux which was tasteless. We left the meringues and chocolate cigars. Must people left their food. The staff did not offer us a doggy bag to take the food away, but if they had we would have refused. The staff looked embarrassed. They were not unfriendly, just not attentive or interested in their customers. The tiolets were up 2 flights of badly decorated lime green stakes with matching walls. The toilets needed redecoration and the waste bins were overflowing. The theme was a let down, the good was terrible. The price was double what it was worth £48 per person for the basic and 14% service on top. I was too disappointed to make a fuss and ask to have my 14% removed from the bill. Neither of us could get out of there fast enough. There are many fabulous afternoon teas in London, many in lovely surroundings like ham yard hotel and cheaper. The Berkeley does a fashion theme for a similar price and it is luxurious. Savoy, Covent Garden hotel, worsley all better!!

We had a lovely afternoon at the Mad Hatters Tea Party celebrating a birthday. The waiter we had was delightful and really made ya feel welcome. The lady who explained the teas was also very nice and friendly. The food was great but there was a lot of it and we had to bring some home in boxes! It was a little cold and I was unaware that the tea party is in fact outside under a tent with heaters. Maybe I over looked this when booking but it wasn’t obvious that this was the case. Overall it was a lovely experience that I would recommend.

If you want an afternoon tea experience that is fun, quirky, delicious and in a lovely setting, then this could be the one for you! The specialist teas are interesting - I had the Mad Hatters and it was refreshingly light and passion fruit flavoured.
We sat in the garden room - very pretty. Flavours of sandwiches etc are a little different from a traditional tea and I would recommend looking at the menu before you book. The salmon scotch egg is amazing though!!! Not overpriced for the setting and quality of the food.

Our reservation was set for the day before we actually went but our flight was cancelled so we were getting there the day after. We called and left a message to explain our situation. They were so accommodating. The staff and service lovely. I would absolutely recommend this tea to anyone wanting a different experience. The food was delicious, and they sent us home with not one but two boxes of finger sandwiches. Quite pricey but pretty standard for afternoon tea

Saturday afternoon tea for 2, we had the veggie option. Food was lovely, chocs very sickly, tea and coffee was fab. Cocktails ok, not great (alcoholic and non). Service was hit and miss, excellent or not great. Forgot to take drinks order, brought out wrong tea, said someone would be along to explain what was on the plates but never came back to do so. Sat inside at the taller table, lovely ambience, not overlooked or noisy at all (except for the odd birthday cheer). On the whole, it was a good experience and I would recommend. Watch out for the 15% gratuity that’s added to the bill.

We booked this over half term! My 6 year old and both my husband and I loved it. Have recommended it many times. An afternoon tea with a theatrical twist! We were lucky enough to have a 12.45 booking so we got to be in the garden next to the lovely water features. Magical! The service was excellent. Our food was given to another table by mistake so we were immediately offered complimentary champagne. The only thing that wasn’t great was the long wait for the food to come out so don’t go on an empty stomach! Other than that, I found no flaws.

We took our children to this tea for one of their birthdays. The food was very nice but I wouldn't recommend it because the service was poor. Although I had written in my reservation that it was her birthday no one wished her a happy birthday which is quite surprising I think. Luckily I had not told her they would do anything special for her. There seemed to be a change of waiters after we arrived which meant the person who was apparently going to come and explain the food to us never did. Didn't really matter as obviously we worked it out. Our champagne never came and we had to ask again after 1 hour. No one ever came to see if we wanted more tea. At the end I asked if I could have a box or bag to take home what we couldn't eat. They did this for me but when I got home I realised they'd only done the cakes and not the sandwiches we hadn't manage to finish which was a shame as the sandwiches were lovely. Anyway this experience cost me 250 pounds and they charged be 15% service charge which was pretty astonishing as there was no service but I paid it as couldn't be bothered to complain. Despite all of this we had a nice time because the food was really very nice but this sort of service is not what I expected from the Sanderson. They were very busy (it was half term) and perhaps they did not have enough staff working.

The staff were beyond friendly with their service, the presentation of our food and tea were very thematically appealing and pleasant, and we were served very quickly. However, the prices for the quantity of food we ordered felt quite higher than it should have been, although we were offered refills.

Loved the theming of the entire experience. The lovely celebration for my friend's birthday was an extra surprise which wasn't expected, and was much appreciated.

The only thing I would change was the ratio of savoury and sweet food. I personally would have preferred more savoury options.

My husband and I were trying to figure out where to have afternoon tea on our vacation when I stumbled upon an Alice in Wonderland themed tea at the Sanderson Hotel. There were several places that looked lovely, but ultimately we decided on the Sanderson and we were so happy that we did. The food was delicious, the tea was spectacular, and the setting was great. We were both extraordinarily pleased with everything. It was quite a bit to spend, but for a special occasion (we went for Valentine’s Day), it was worth every penny...or pence in this case.

Lovely, novel afternoon tea. All the food was wonderful, as was the tea on offer. It was my mother’s birthday treat and they brought an extra cake with a candle out which was lovely.

I have given 4 rather than 5 stars as getting staff’s attention to request additional tea and to pay at the end was difficult - we weren’t really checked on throughout. We took a doggy bag of the cakes home because we couldn’t eat them all and one of the cakes was missed out :( There was also a children’s party ongoing and all the children were running about in the garden. Completely appreciate this isn’t Sanderson’s fault but I felt a quiet word with the adults who had took them there would have gone a long way - it’s a lot of money to pay to be surrounded by kids screaming!

All of that didn’t override the enjoyment though - would still recommend!
