Was a fun experience! We enjoyed the Madhatter Tea, which was wonderfully done. Tea was outstanding and there was more food than one could eat!

The afternoon tea was beautiful with visible details throughout. But the beauty was only surface level as the food was Dreadful.
A melted croissant sandwich made instead with white bread and served cold, salmon scotch egg fishy in the wrong kind of way and topped with a single caviar egg (not to mention the crust solidified from seemingly sitting out for too long), and a crab salad that was so watery it turned the stale bread mushy. The sweet nibbles were toothache inducing, sickly sweet. Looked cute, tasted bad.
In my opinion, the setting is fantastic (perfect for photos), but the quality of the food is not worth the price in the least.

I booked the Madhatters Afternoon Tea as a surprise for our third wedding anniversary, as our wedding was Madhatters themed.
The hotel is a lovely space, and very cleanly decorated. The staff are extremely helpful and polite. I was a little disappointed as I had emailed to request a table in the courtyard garden, but unfortunately we were inside by the kitchen.
The afternoon tea itself is very impressive visually, and there are lots of elements to it. Everyone gets ample tea, and a lovely range of flavours are available.
The menu is beautifully put together and the food is delicious, particularly the scotch egg, and the homemade scones.
We also had a lovely treat in a flower pot to finish the meal which was lovely.

The concept of an Alice in wonderland high tea seemed very appealing. However, in our opinion the price we paid for the high tea was very much out of balance with the quality of it.

Let's start with the positives. We had a fab waitress, the teas are funky (and good) and the decor is, well, the Sanderson. Our waitress greeted the birthday girl with a happy birthday and also brought a cake at the end. This is in stark contrast to the very poor reception by the tea receptionist who seems to be unable to smile and suffers from an attitude. The food was generally good, but nothing special and mostly too sweet. As for the scheme, there are touches of Alice, but quite limited. Overall not worth £48+++. If you want funky and cheaper, then I recommend the Ampersand.

The garden is the main draw, but the afternoon tea menu is tired. The quality of the food is really average. It's all about the setting and informal unstuffy surroundings (which are lovely).

Did not get the 20% offer even though I selected it? Paid full price. Very helpful team that moved us to the outdoor courtyard and food was lovely!

This was pleasant enough and in better weather the courtyard would have been enchanting. However, given that the Mad Hatter’s theme must attract a high
Proportion of families, I though the food was generally unsuitable for children:
- scotch egg with salmon rather than sausage
- cucumber sandwiches (fine) but made with pesto bread
- crab sandwiches
Even the cakes generally had an element that made them unattractive for kids: lemon polenta cake and the chocolate cake had coffee icing.

I also though it expensive for what it was and have had better value elsewhere, including Claridges.

Table was late. Food was late. Very difficult to get staffs attention. Food presentation tired compared to a year ago.

Took my daughter for her 16th birthday and she’s a coeliac. We were blown away by the gluten free option .... hats off to the chef . You should be shouting about it
More to gluten intolerants especially children . It was superb!

we booked for my neice 18th birthday. food was great as different selection to afternoon teas that we have had before. Due to bad weather was disappointed we couldnt sit in the courtyard as the decorations are beautiful. our waitress couldnt do enough for us she was wonderful.
I have booked the typsy evening tea and cant wait to visit again

The hosts were pleasant, service good.
The non dairy Mad Hatter afternoon tea was lacking and disappointing.
The one scone was dry and a bit heavy. Some treats were overly sweet. The sandwiches and brownie were decent, but the roll was not, therefore, it was not worth the cost.
We dined in the courtyard, it rained, the parasols leaked, the staff tried to resolve this.
You can move indoors, if there is space, but, the ambience was better outside.
I have eaten better afternoon teas elsewhere.

The food was interesting and quirky, though not suitable for children the selection of tea was good, the staff was very welcoming and friendly and the setting is beautiful. Trouble is it’s cold, they supply blankets but most of the time we spent the afternoon tea chasing the bits that kept blowing off our table. Our English breakfast tea was really cold too, so much so it wouldn’t melt the sugar. For just shy of £200 for two adults and two children I’d say it was below standard.

Really enjoyed! The food is better than I expected! Desserts may be sweet but with lovely tea, they mixed really well. I love the way they put tea samples for you to smell! They are all lovely! Would love to go in the future and recommend friends!

We went there with a family including a five and seven year old. The tables are in an open courtyard in the middle of the building. When you look up you see rooms and chipped paint. The service was matter of fact without warmth. The sandwiches were mediocre at best (as an example the croque monsieur served cold). The cakes were cute but not very tasty. We will not be back.

The food was good however it was very pricey. The service was very slow, and we had to try to catch the waitresses eye to ask for various items, rather than them offering to get us drinks etc. It would have been nice to have a few more sandwiches before we moved onto the cakes but because they took so long we decided to crack on as we where quiet hungry by that point. It was also my sisters birthday but they didn’t go out of their way to make you feel welcomed or a little more special. Overall it is a good experience and the Sanderson is a lovely place but unfortunately the slow service let it down for us.

I first experienced this afternoon tea 3 years ago and it was outstanding. Sadly, the service and quality has deteriorated since then. Our tea pots leaked all over the table and the cake stand was wonky - and not in a fun ‘mad hatter’ way. Most of the food was fine - nice sweets and scones, but the sandwich bread was dry and the toasted ham & cheese was stone cold. The teas were delicious, but there was no offer to refill them or replenish the scones/sandwiches (a nice touch I’ve experienced at other afternoon teas around London). The garden setting is lovely, it’s just a shame the rest of the experience fell short.

This was a great way to get my girlfriends together to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and they boxed everything up to take home afterward.

Their drink menu is extensive and they have a heavy pour.

Overall, it was a lovely day and I'll be back.

Lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday. Delicious tea, particularly the Alice tea, and scrummy cakes. The staff were friendly and polite and the outdoor setting was lovely, although a bit warm! A few outside fans would be a suggestion.

So magical and delicious! Outdoor seating beautiful. Will definitely be back....what a great idea/concept! Only improvement would be we waited a long time for our bill once we were done and nobody came so we had to go ask for it.

Started with cocktails and then champagne afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday. Service was very attentive but not obtrusive and the special birthday plate was a nice surprise. Food and choice of teas was good. Very relaxing. Would definitely recommend.

The whole experience was really nice. The staff were friendly and as an adult - I personally really enjoyed the food. But my daughter was not too keen on the savoury options. Considering the theme will attract a lot of children, I think it would be better to have an alternative savoury option for children.
I have nut and other allergies and the chefs were absolutely brilliant at dealing with it all.
The setting was really lovely.

This was promised (Advert) to be an experience.
The welcome was off handed, the table service was cold and unwelcoming.
The food was "odd" I have had afternoon tea in many establishments and the food here was not very nice.
It is very expensive for a not very inspiring or enjoyable experience.
Shame!

We went for my cousins 10th birthday. It was a lovely atmosphere and great service. The food was nothing to rave about but for a little girls celebration I think this is a great idea/option. I would recommend for this reason. Also, they do let you top up on any tea items savoury or sweet at no extra charge which was nice.

Savoury food was more inventive than other afternoon teas and tasted great if a little over-seasoned. Macaron was dry and carrot meringues were not very tasty but lemon drizzle, shortbread biscuit and chessboard cake were lovely. Scones were perfect. The Alice accessories do look tired - chipped drink me bottles and worn tea-choice cards. The menu was difficult to read as the type had worn. This said, my children liked the garden and the swing and the novelty of the theme.

We wanted to go to an afternoon tea with our toddler during our first visit to London, and came across Mad Hatter's. The theme was fun and the patio was tastefully decorated. We loved their sweets and the fun potion-like bottles to choose from for tea. They were very accommodating to our son's foods allergies, and he seemed to enjoy it. There's also a cute area great for picture taking in front of the fountain, and my son played around there for a bit. It was a fun lunch!

Ambiance is nice. Food is good. I think it is very expensive for what you get.
I went with a 1 yr old baby and the high chairs are NOT safe! baby can get out. Very dangerous!
So I had to hold my son on my lap all the time. My daughter is 3 and she really enjoyed playing in the garden and the water. Overall we had a good time. But don't think worth the money.
