Mad Hatter's Tea at Sanderson Ratings and Reviews
We had a lovely afternoon tea which was very fresh and tasty x the staff we’re very efficient and friendly and very helpful. Overall a very enjoyable experience and would definitely go again. The blankets kept us very warm outside, we couldn’t eat all our afternoon tea, and the staff put the remaining cakes in a box to take home! Lovely day.
Anytime I have high tea it is with my wife and daughters, as I'm not really into sweets and desserts. This was a special outing with only one daughter, but I can easily say this was the best I have experienced. The food is all made to take cues from Alice in Wonderland (picture small bottles labeled "Drink Me", "mushrooms" made out of marshmallow, and macarons shaped like clocks, just like in the book) yet it was also very well made, exquisite and delicious. The teas are named after characters in the book (we loved "Cheshire Cat" and "White Rabbit"). The china also was unique and all of it inspired by the famous story. A super fun way to do tea, with far more style and cleverness than any of the other high end hotels where high tea is served. I will definitely be back with the rest of my daughters and my wife. Highly recommended!!
Brilliant trip for my friends birthday. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and creative, and all options had a gluten free counter part (equally as delicious!). The selection of teas was great, definitely worth trying one you wouldn’t normally! All so smooth and tasty! The afternoon tea was so different, a unique take on the tradition. Sitting out in the “garden” with blankets and the heaters added to the atmosphere.
Been wanting to go to a decent afternoon tea for a while. So when sis sent me a link to book in for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, we did! Great choice of teas available, cute themed food items (I did see tiers went out with basically just fruit... Presumably to someone with GF diet needs). Personally I'd prefer a few more savoury items..
Even surprised me with piece of cake with candle for my Birthday!
I booked the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party through Open Table through a promotional email that came through offering the high tea and a cocktail for £40 per person. The link in the email allowed me to book the offer on Sunday. My girlfriend and I were staying at Sandersons for the weekend so this was ideal.
The High Tea was exceptional? The presentation and service were superb....until it came to the bill. Apparently the offer shouldn’t have been made available to us on Sunday. It turned a special afternoon tea into an embarrassment. The manager had to be called who kindly offered to knock off some of the cocktails. What should have been a great experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Thankfully the Sanderson restaurant manager handled it really well but I think opentable left us embarrassed
i just can't wait to visit again! Already planning our next visit, everything was faultless. We had the mad hatters afternoon tea which was amazing, the food and cakes was fun and delicious, combined with a sanderson cocktail that as divine! The venue was quirky and cool and the staff were amazing!
Very quirky afternoon tea, their service was lovely very attentive and accommodating. The food was delicious with a nut free allergy option. It was my sister's birthday and at the end they brought out an extra cake with a Happy Birthday message for her making it more special!
Wow! For our very first British tea time, this was a winner. Besides a short wait for our reserved table and having to find out the wait time by asking, the service was overall pretty slow, but good. The overall atmosphere, exquisite tea and scrumptious finger foods are why you come- and they did not disappoint . The dining area for Mad Hatter Tea is in a small covered courtyard with a waterfall, mini fountains and tropical plants in the center. Each table comes with blankets, a old “book” to camouflage the menu and adorable place settings. Sampling the teas by smell was new to me and fun. The savory and sweet finger foods were all Alice in Wonderland-themed and each incredibly unique. It was fun for my 8 & 10 year old daughters, and my 8 year old said it was the highlight of her first trip to London! Kudos.
Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at the Sanderson is an experience for the eyes, as very visual detail has been considered. The space and tablescape were unique and special. I was very pleased with the tea and wine selections as well. Perhaps because it was late in the day, some of the tea sandwiches and treats seemed like they had been refrigerated after they were made and that left the bread texture a little, well, refrigerated. That said, great flavors and presentation were the order for the day and I would go back to try in a different season.
Really loved this afternoon tea. Everything was well thought out and the little details were lovely. It was my friends 30th and the staff had seated us in a little private part of the restaurant and also bought a little cake over (had to take it home in a doggy bag as we had overloaded so much on sugar!!)
The only criticism I could make is that we were charged £21.70 (15%) service charge, whilst the staff were very attentive and I couldn't fault their service, it made an afternoon tea very expensive (£55 each)
I booked this for my daughter's birthday. Before the day I telephoned and advised that neither of us ate fish or seafood, and was assured it would not be a problem. On arrival we were greeted promptly and shown to our table by a member of staff. Our waitress was attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious - and no fish! We were quite full when we left. My only issue would be the 15% service charge. I was happy to leave a tip but feel it should be at my discretion. But that was a minor gripe and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The Mad Hatters Tea Party was a wonderful experience, which I would highly recommend, palatial surroundings, fantastic food, which was re filled as soon as we asked.. We asked to be moved to an outside table and this was orchestrated, after a 30 min delay, making it an even more special experience... Would def visit again and highly recommend! Our waitress was very attentive and nothing was too much of a problem for her at all..
Mad hatter theme was good and details were good.
More savoury woukd of been better to many cakes... esp as i onky liked one finger sandwich as the others were to rich in flavour.
Overall good ...staff were accommodating and happy to take pictures for us.
Booked for daughter 16th it was a surprised she absolutely loved it as Alice in wonderland is one of her favourites. Service was great afternoon tea was fantastic so cleverly put together if I has to fault anything I just felt it was a bit over prices but overall great experience surrounding are beautiful hotel was stunning inside very good service
