Mad Hatter's Tea at Sanderson Ratings and Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon Mad Hatters themed Tea with one exception.
Our booking was at 12.30 and we arrived 10 mins early. Although there were empty tables within the restaurant where coffee is served we were told to wait in the lobby. When i asked if we could wait at one of the empty tables, i received a shrug as the response . I asked if we could get a drink anywhere and the bar was pointed out. This was the only disappointment. Having been before - I expected better service from the restaurant receptionist.
After this hiccup, our experience was nothing short of fantastic. Staff in the restaurant couldnt have been more different - they were exceptional. Very attentative and we were made to feel special. The afternoon tea was fresh and really tasty and the Mad Hatter theme is lovely. The tea was quite filling and we were offered to take the cakes home what we couldn't manage to eat.
We would definitely recommend it.
Afternoon tea is served in the canopied garden - it has heaters and blankets which keep you cosy especially on one of the coldest days of the year.
The Mad Hatter afternoon tea was amazing! Not just the presentation was fascinating, the food tasted fantastic too! Even it was a rainy day, we felt warm enough to sit outside with the heating and blankets provided. The staff were friendly enough. Also a few special tea to choose from. Having a high expectation, I'd give it a 5 star rating for the overall experience. Highly recommended.
I attended the Mad Hatters Tea Party at the Sanderson in London, for my daughters 21st birthday. We had a party etc for her 21st but wanted something different for the actual day.
From start to finish, it was a very different tea, with lovely quirky, artistic details, from the tea pots, cake stands, presentation of food and the food itself. You could change the menu if you wanted and could eat as much as you like. The service was exceptional and very attentive and fun.
It was a cold, damp day and the seating was outside but under cover with outside heaters etc. I must of missed this detail when I booked and should have worn something warmer, but the garden was lovely, with fountains etc which added to the mood of the party.
Many thanks and we will definitely return in the future. I have recommended it to friends and colleagues already.
The best afternoon tea I've ever had. Creative and delicious with a great theme as a Mad Hatters tea party. The seelction of tea was vast. And you could even ask for more. Really great service - unpressured but there as needed.
Would highly recommend the Sanderson for afternoon tea.
I am a Chinese and have been to London three time. But I haven’t enjoyed afternoon tea even though I have heard of this long time ago. It is a nice experience for me and I really enjoyed it, I would like to recommend to my friends! Maybe I’ll come back sometime! Thanks again!
Thank you to all of the staff at The Sanderson who made a Christmas Afternoon Tea for my kids (8,6,2) so very, very memorable!! We had a ball!! The Mad Hatters Afternoon tea (with a splash of pink champagne for Mum:-) was delicious, and the staff were perfectly attentive. Can not recommend this enough as an afternoon out!
We had a lovely afternoon tea which was very fresh and tasty x the staff we’re very efficient and friendly and very helpful. Overall a very enjoyable experience and would definitely go again. The blankets kept us very warm outside, we couldn’t eat all our afternoon tea, and the staff put the remaining cakes in a box to take home! Lovely day.
Anytime I have high tea it is with my wife and daughters, as I'm not really into sweets and desserts. This was a special outing with only one daughter, but I can easily say this was the best I have experienced. The food is all made to take cues from Alice in Wonderland (picture small bottles labeled "Drink Me", "mushrooms" made out of marshmallow, and macarons shaped like clocks, just like in the book) yet it was also very well made, exquisite and delicious. The teas are named after characters in the book (we loved "Cheshire Cat" and "White Rabbit"). The china also was unique and all of it inspired by the famous story. A super fun way to do tea, with far more style and cleverness than any of the other high end hotels where high tea is served. I will definitely be back with the rest of my daughters and my wife. Highly recommended!!
Brilliant trip for my friends birthday. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and creative, and all options had a gluten free counter part (equally as delicious!). The selection of teas was great, definitely worth trying one you wouldn’t normally! All so smooth and tasty! The afternoon tea was so different, a unique take on the tradition. Sitting out in the “garden” with blankets and the heaters added to the atmosphere.
Been wanting to go to a decent afternoon tea for a while. So when sis sent me a link to book in for the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, we did! Great choice of teas available, cute themed food items (I did see tiers went out with basically just fruit... Presumably to someone with GF diet needs). Personally I'd prefer a few more savoury items..
Even surprised me with piece of cake with candle for my Birthday!
I booked the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party through Open Table through a promotional email that came through offering the high tea and a cocktail for £40 per person. The link in the email allowed me to book the offer on Sunday. My girlfriend and I were staying at Sandersons for the weekend so this was ideal.
The High Tea was exceptional? The presentation and service were superb....until it came to the bill. Apparently the offer shouldn’t have been made available to us on Sunday. It turned a special afternoon tea into an embarrassment. The manager had to be called who kindly offered to knock off some of the cocktails. What should have been a great experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Thankfully the Sanderson restaurant manager handled it really well but I think opentable left us embarrassed
