This was our first stop in London and it did not disappoint. We were totally blown away. I wanted an afternoon tea experience and it did that and then some! We tried all the house teas that were Alice in Wonderland themed it was beyond. You can tell the thought that was put into every item. I had to rebook for a later time due to my flight being delayed and they were so helpful. Definitely would recommend putting on your to do list in London!

Hi , was very expensive as things were not explained that the sandwiches were limitless we only ate what we was offered and the fillings were barely noticeable maybe more filling, the chicken coronation was really awful. The server to speak more clearly as it was very noisy. Also where I sat every time someone walked past the table would shake and the vibration was awful.

We had such a lovely experience. Our waitress was amazing and looked after our every need. The only downside was that some of the themed items were missing on our cakes. So not the same as advertised which was a bit disappointing but still very tasty.

The service was excellent and my daughter loved the novelty factor of it. There were lovely warm blankets to keep us snug and that was a lovely touch. The plates, tea pots and tiered food tray were cute but our cups were plain white cups … other people did have the mad hatter themed cups which had a lovely shape. It was £55 pp and for that I would expect really good food… it was very disappointing. The sandwiches were not made fresh… they came from the fridge and the bread was not fresh… the outside was dry. The salmon sandwiches and the tzatziki sandwiches were nice…but I took one bite of the chicken and nearly got sick. It was like I was chewing into sinew. To be fair there was no issue at all getting more salmon and tzatziki sandwiches. The vol au vent was egg mayonnaise…it lacked seasoning and creativity. There wasn’t even a little sprig of parsley on top to bring a bit of colour to it. The scones were lovely and warm. They were pretty and tasted good. The jam was ok … nothing wow about them but tasted ok…but the clotted cream had obviously been put into the little bowl a few hours before hand and had a skin on top. And it was mean. We got a scrapping of clotted cream for each scone. The macaroons were so disappointing… again no wow, no yummy as we ate. The other little treats were really nice…and we loved the blue candy floss at the top. It was a really nice touch. I got delicious camomile tea… but the loose tea kept getting stuck in the spout so I couldn’t pour it. Our waiter was lovely and it wasn’t his first time seeing this and brought me a bigger pot… this also kept getting stuck. It was irritating but I wasn’t going to say any more to the waiter as there was no point. My daughters loose tea also kept getting stuck… a simple strainer at the base of the spout on the inside would surely fix this… I can’t understand that a place that serves loose tea all day every day doesn’t have this sorted. The flavour of the tea, once we got it out, was delicious.

Really lovely Mad hatters tea experience with my daughter. My daughter had the children's version and I had the Gluten free afternoon tea. Lots of different flavours and could request more sandwiches. First round of gluten free sandwiches were slightly dry but next round were nicer. Was still really lovely though. Lots of different tea options. Flavio was very attentive and informative. It is in a garden/outdoor heated area but this was fine

My daughters and I were really looking forward to this afternoon tea. We are serial afternoon tea people and one of my daughters is gluten free and had heard good things about the Sanderson gluten free afternoon tea so we were looking forward to it. We arrived at the hotel and we were shown to our table outside in the courtyard terrace and had the menu explained. We were told that we would be served shortly. About 20 mins passed and no one came to serve us. In fact there were 2 other tables in our area that were also waiting and had been waiting longer than us. We were sitting right next to the speaker and it was playing quite loud house music which wasn’t conducive to an afternoon tea. I eventually went and asked someone if we and the other tables in our section were going to be served soon and was told by the waitress that it wasn’t her section which wasn’t really helpful. Shortly afterwards another waiter came over and took our order and he also turned the music down so that we could hear each other speak. Once we had ordered our tea, the afternoon got a better. Our waiter was quite attentive and we were served quickly. The non gluten tea was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed the quirky Alice in wonderland theme. The gluten free afternoon tea sandwiches and scones were tasty but my daughter found the other cakes not that enjoyable. Overall the whole afternoon tea was quite enjoyable but not that memorable and not something I would hurry back for. The idea of the mad hatters tea is great but the execution was poor and needs to be improved. If the music had been quieter on arrival and we had more attentive service from the start then it would have been a much better experience. Improvements are definitely needed.

Value seems pretty good and the teas were flavorful and creative. The treats were creative and unusual so they nailed it there. The sandwiches were not good in our opinion, BUT, the family next to us loved some of them and got more, so it must have been our personal taste. The service definitely was lacking. Initially we had a super great waiter but his shift ended shortly into our time there. After that, the new waiter was seen only when we got his attention, which was hard since he was rarely in the courtyard. However, there was a younger gal who was super sweet and was occasionally in the area and would help.

Food was great, inventive and fun. I enjoyed the same experience years and wanted my friend to try it as a treat for her 50th: she really enjoyed and the staff very kind, wishing her a happy birthday and bringing out a small cake and candle (which we managed to share despite being stuffed!) Service was pretty good although I'm sure they used to make more of a fuss about the specialist theme teas, giving you samples of tea to sniff and decide what you might want. This time it seemed more of a faff for them to do this so I took a punt based on the labels provided. My friend requested a refill of tea when asked and it never arrived although to be fair by then, we couldn't fit in anything else. Would go again for the novelty factor but there are plenty of other comparable teas in this price bracket.

Mad Hatter Tea is good if you want something low key and are ok with it being overpriced for what it is. The food was good enough and appealing to younger crowd. The service tried their best. We probably wouldn't go back again but I might recommend it with some heavy expectation-setting.

The food was nice and delicate. It was so pretty that I didn’t want to eat them. The Alice in the Wonderland theme was superb. The waitress Sanyogita especially made the whole experience more enjoyable. She kept the different character named tea as a surprise for us to discover, which made the whole dining experience very fun!

Afternoon tea at the Mad Hatter was amazing in every way! The food was delicious! I love the fact that they have an entire menu that's gluten free and vegan. It is very important when you go out to eat and have dietary needs that there's not a problem to get them catered to. Hat's off to the kitchen and whoever came up with the diverse selection of pastries and sandwiches. I love the fact that you can get as many as 5 different pots of teas. That to me is afternoon tea. An all in all very good experience! 🩷

A really enjoyable experience The afternoon tea was delicious. Interesting takes on the theme (like the 'Drink Me' juice and the interesting and large selection of teas). 'Gluten free and Vegan' menu options were available as standard (fab selection of choice morsels which meant I didn't feel I was missing out on anything that wasn't gluten free, or that I was an extra hassle for being GF). Our waitress, Chipego, was exceptional - attentive, knowledgeable about the food and teas, very welcoming and generally a very good host.

The theme is lovely of course and it’s the main reason someone would book this afternoon tea. The food is mediocre, it sounds ways better than it tastes. The jam for the scones is from the supermarket. Go if you want the experience and to take photos, but don’t go if you expect a fine afternoon tea experience.

This was a lovely treat for my mums birthday…..the service from our waitress Sanyogita was the best service I have ever received…..if there’s an award for the best waitress it has to go to her ……amazing service that I can’t praise enough. The food was lovely and set out really pretty ….just a little bit pricey for two afternoon teas. The setting was lovely too ….it just could have done with some more characters dotted around from Alice in Wonderland/Mad Hatters tea party etc……or even have cardboard cutouts of different scenery from the film! To make it feel more like a themed afternoon tea as the tea pots and plates etc were very fitting ….overall a lovely afternoon and would go again just to be waited on by Sanyogita….not everyday a waitress makes you feel special…..thank you Sanyogita you made our day x

Not a restaurant! It is an out door space between buildings with a canvas cover. Lots of mice running on the floor , one tried to clime on the leg of the lady sitting next to us!!! No special or any decoration really and the food was mediocre. Very expensive and no return. It was a really a disappointing and very expensive experience.

This is a truly unique afternoon tea! From the cutlery, to the food to the drinks! You can tell a lot of effort goes into the afternoon tea with everything explained thoroughly by the staff serving you. The food was yummy and faultless and beautifully presented all in the theme of Alice in wonderland!
