Madame Pigg opened in November 2018 and is located on the Haggerston strip of Kingsland Road, alongside luminaries Rotorino, Brilliant Corners, Chick n Sours et al. Since then, Chef Hardiman has been serving both quality interpretations of classic dishes and seasonal inspired British dishes.
Great vibe, better food. Good for allergies. We will be back.
The starters were nice but the mains we had (especially the schnizel which the waitress highly recommended) was really dry and bland. It's a nice little restaurant but too overpriced for average food.
Fabulous space and lovely staff. The olives are to die for - best in London!!
One of the best roasts I've had in London - proper crispy roast potatoes, beautiful meat, a top Yorkshire pudding and delicious red wine. The crispy pork starter was also incredible. If you haven't tried Madam Pig, you must!
This is now one of my favourite restaurants in Dalston - the food is ALWAYS delicious - I've never had an average meal there - consistently fantastic, and the staff are too lovely for words. They have recently opened a 'secret garden' out the back for the summer months. I cannot wait to visit. Please go if you are in the area. They change the menu frequently, and it is never boring.
Very accommodating and amazing service. Great location and great vibes
I read great reviews about Madame Pigg and three of us decided to check it out today for Sunday lunch ...it definitely lived up to our expectations and was well worth the trip to Kingsland Road ...the food is just fab ..
We had the squid and chargrilled leeks for starters which were really tasty ... we all opted for a roast for mains ...Beef, lamb and chicken ( literally half a chicken was served as one person portion ! ) all were really good served with fab (huge) Yorkshire’s roast potatoes and veg .... buttered greens and cauliflower sides were also excellent ... portions were very generous leaving no room for desert !
It had a really nice atmosphere, cool decor and very attentive staff .... the playlist was also very good !! will definitely be back to try out evening menu ..... thanks for a lovely lunch
This place is UNREAL! The decor is really unique and gives a lovely ambience. The staff are FAB, they really make you feel welcome from walking through the door to leaving after your meal. Bloody Mary’s are delicious. We had the scallops and mussels to start and the beef roast for mains - I can not recommend all dishes highly enough. Can’t wait to return and try even more of the menu offering’s!
Delicious roast, wonderful staff, would return!
First visit, loved everything up until the dessert.
The good: almost everything! the space, the warm welcome, the very friendly personnel, the sunday roast was delicious, the small plates of food were also really yum. Good to keep in mind the portions are all on the small side compared to similar places, but just order more if you're hungry.
The bad: the dessert. it was described as lemon cake and mascarpone, and for £7 that's all it was, a very small slice (1cm high, no more) of cake that was already baked and dry, and a spoon of mascarpone, straight out of the jar as you buy it in the supermarket. The whole thing was literally only 2 elements, no effort, no cooking, no garnish, no texture, no acidity. It was very dry and disappointing. You would expect at least a drizzle of syrup, or a crunch element, it's bad to pay £7 for a slice of cake that every cafe serves for £2.
conclusion: I would go back for the food and the atmosphere, but I will skip the dessert.
I’m afraid we were a bit disappointed, we came on Saturday evening for a meal. The place itself and staff were lovely, but the food was a let down we found. I had phoned in advance to say we had a vegan coming and was told that there were always four or five vegan options on the menu, and on the website it also says there are plenty of vegan options. When we got there, there were no vegan options on the menu and we were told nothing could be made vegan. Our vegan diner therefore had a bowl of vegetables: courgette and a few other things, which we were later charged £14 for.
Incredible neighbourhood gem! Wonderful food and great hospitality and service. We go as often as possible. Love this place!!
Roast potatoes were boss!
Sunday lunch. Great food. Decent prices. Great team. Will be back
Perfect place to catch up with friends or also for a date, lovely food and great atmosphere!
Great restaurant! Both of our roasts were absolutely delicious. Atmosphere and ambience were lovely. Service was excellent and our waiters could not have been more helpful. Slightly disappointed to be told that they had run out of all the dessert but certainly gives us an excuse to come back!
Recent opening from a chef with a good pedigree (St John's, Dartmouth Arms), but still finding its feet. Friendly, but very very slow service; several dishes sold out; uncomfortable bench seating; and music too loud to have a conversation across the table. Food was hit and miss: some tasty veggie starters, and big main course servings; but the schnitzel was burnt/cold/dry, and pineapple dessert was rock hard/uncooked, despite taking over 30 mins. Some mains have sides, some don't: the server encouraged us to order more potatoes, to accompany the potatoes that already came with the lamb. Oh, and no coffee or tea. It would all be fine for a gastropub, but for a £70 per head restaurant, not so much.
Amazing food menu was epic
Great closet atmosphere
Can’t wait to go back for a Sunday roast
Enjoyable neighbourhood restaurant. Food highlights were the charred leek and romesco sauce and the lovely bread and walnut butter. Lamb chops were perfectly cooked. Nice to see old style starter/main/pud selection rather than small plates - although the mains were generously sized and could easily be shared. Friendly service, great music at the right volume. short wine list with good choice by glass. Downside - no coffee! I know Dalston is overrun with coffee shops but an after dinner espresso would be good. So would a grappa or a dessert wine....
Best food I’ve had in years. Will be returning hopefully later next week. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
Good anytime - but definitely book a Sunday roast!
Dined Sunday afternoon and had the roast. Best roast I’ve had in London and the service was awesome too. Will be back!
Been here before for dinner but came back from the roast and I always saw good things on their Instagram! Decent amount of beef on the plate, roast pots were great and a little surprise of parsnip puree, carrots and greens underneath. All to the tones of Fleetwood Mac!
The food here was well worth the journey from Warwickshire!! Adam is so passionate and his team are just lovely and so attentive.
The food (where do I begin?!) incredible.
Oysters were so fresh, the prawns were so yummy and the steak was cooked to perfection (served with truffle cauliflower cheese)was the best we have ever eaten.
We shall be back for sure!!
Thanks again for a great dining experience
Food was AMAZING, one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever tasted! I got the beef and Malbec wine.
Only one think I wish they would turn the music down as it was a bit loud but definitely a place to spend your Sunday !
This is now my go to restaurant to take anyone visiting me in Dalston. The food is amazing, staff are friendly, the ever changing menus are great and again the food is reallyyyy amazing.
I don't normally do reviews, but I'll make an exception in this case. All the dishes we tried were superb, and very reasonably priced for the most part. Staff were very friendly and helpful too, so I can't wait to go back!
My only gripe was the high music volume. As much as I am a fan of 80s new wave, conversation wasn't easy - our seating position near the speakers didn't help though.
Regardless, I'm very impressed and will definitely be going back!
Fantastic, unpretentious service. Great food and large portions. Gave us a free prosecco because kitchen was supposedly slow, but didn't appear to be!
Incredible food, excellent playlist, lovely wine, decent prices. A great little find in East London for proper foodies!!
Amazing food. Love the place. Realy good value. Really good fish and vege options too which my friends really appreciated. Be back soon!
An absolutely amazing dining experience - I couldn’t recommend it more! The food was impeccable (all fresh and local produce), the wine was amazing and the service was just as good. I can’t wait to go again.
First visit, will definitely return
Staff looked after us great and soundtrack was fab
Food was absolutely excellent and the service was brilliant. Friendly staff that know the menu and wine list inside and out. Atmosphere was great. Probably the best roast I’ve had in London.
I loved the experience, the food was very good. I felt it was a little expensive but the flavours were certainly there. The food took a bit longer than expected but we weren’t too bothered as we were having a great time. The restaurant is really cool with a good vibe and good music. And the service team were really working hard and well. Overall a great experience.
Great staff, lovely ambience and delicious food! Would thoroughly recommend
I have been twice recently and I am already looking forward to going back. I love it here. Such friendly service and the food is amazing. It has a really nice vibe.
Very tasty food with seasonal ingredients
A phenomenal place to eat, drink and socialised. Our second was as good as the first and this place with its friendly staff, great tasting food and head bobbing music, made our Sunday evening meal perfect! If you haven’t been, GO!
We went on a Sunday, it was busy but there was a good buzz in the restaurant! We was booked for 3.30 but they already started to run out of food and drink and the servers were very forgetful e.g we got 2 lots of starters we never ordered, the extra gravy came after we finished our meal, we had to remind the waiters 4 times for horseradish sauce which took 10 mins but you don’t want to really eat your roast beef without it so it’s a choice of waiting and eating cold beef or just accepting you wasn’t going to get it! Overall the food and ambience was good but I wouldn’t return now knowing you have to be polite and patient when you’re paying good money! So I will carry on my voyage to find the perfect roast establishment!
