Magnolias on King
The Palm Lounge, our second floor craft cocktail experience, features comfortable seating, seasonally lit fireplace and a cozy space to enjoy one of our specialty cocktails including our signature Magnolia’s Old Fashioned while enjoying our full menu offerings. We also have beautiful spaces available for private events from 14 to 50 guests.
Everything was wonderful except the dish I chose, but that's my fault, not the restaurant. The place was beautiful, our server was amazing, and my husband's food was incredible. I definitely recommend it and we will go back!
Great brunch food and drinks. Definitely check them out!
I took my husband here to celebrate our anniversary based on all the great reviews and we left underwhelmed. It took awhile for our server to get our initial order and the food was just “meh.” It was so disappointing that we didn’t even feel like staying for dessert.
Been coming here for a year or so , it’s always a great experience from hostess to the servers everyone is so nice .., great place in old town
Great service! Spicy crab dip was very good!
Pleasant experience. Staff was friendly and efficient. Recommend it highly.
We had THE BEST time at Magnolia’s on King!! Luna was our server and was absolutely incredible. He had wonderful recommendations and a thorough knowledge of cocktails and wine. Luna, Nick and Vanessa are the Dream Team and made us feel so special. We have lived in the area for a good six months and this has been our favorite place (and experience) by far—can’t wait to come back.
P.S. We took a bite of food before I took each picture because it looked so damn good
It was just ok. Nothing to brag about
Roasted beet salad greens were wilty and dressing made them a little gummy. Spring risotto was great. Coconut cake was dry and frankly a disaster. Duck confit with dumplings was good.
We went during restaurant week and enjoyed our 3 course $35 meal. My deviled eggs were smooth and delicious while my wife’s bacon wrapped dates were even better. She enjoyed her shrimp and grits, I enjoyed my fried chicken. For desert my hot fudge Sunday hit the spot. My bride enjoyed her strawberry shortcake. The staff was busy but attentive. Kudos to our upstairs bartender who came around pouring water and checking in on everyone.
Magnolia's on King is DELICIOUS!!! My husband and I had a great experience. Great service, great atmosphere, great food.
Absolutely fabulous meal!!! And the service by Emily was outstanding!! The shrimp and grits are outstanding , the portion huge, but you eat the entire amount because you can't stop yourself. The berry shortcake ( homemade) was too good to describe. And the wine by THE GLASS fabulous ( "Quilt" - cab) I LOVED this place ........ from the food to Emily........ it's amazing!
Went to Magnolis on King during restaurant week. We chose this restaurant based on their three course menu options and they did not disappoint. The food was very good. We ended up ordering the wine pairing but the cocktail menus looks really tasty. We will have to return to try their full menu and the cocktails.
Our restaurant week 3 course special dinner selections were delicious. It was busy so service was a bit slow. The downstairs dining room was hot, while the upstairs seating was much cooler. It was also rather loud, not the quiet intimate vibe we were expecting.
I was not prepared in the slightest for how incredibly loud this restaurant is. Despite that, it was amazingly intimate. The roar swallows all conversation. You cannot hear beyond your own table, for the most part. We found that there were 2 people who insisted on shouting at their table, and their voices were prominent on our evening, but even then we could not really make out what they were saying - only that they were quite lively, animated, and shouting. The food was impeccably delicious and the service was accommodating and thorough. We never had a need for anything once we entered the establishment. They sort you (we got there early, so we went to the bar), take your order, and then they predicted every need we had and catered to us like we were royalty. It was a boisterously lovely evening!! The service staff are warm, knowledgeable, and attentive. The cocktail offerings are inventive, and the wine is perfectly paired with the food, if you ask for a suggestion.
We are here for Restaurant Week. The service was pleasant but exceptionally slow. It took two hours to get three courses and we spent much of the meal waiting. We weren’t offered drinks during the long periods between courses. All of the food was fine, but unremarkable. My dessert, a sundae, was delivered while I was in the restroom and w/o a plate under it. When I came back to the table, it had melted all over my place setting. A disappointing experience overall.
I have dined at Magnolia's before and will be back but we went for a special occasion and it was pretty disappointing - the server didn't come around nearly enough. We had to ask repeatedly for a few things and when we mentioned we were still waiting on an item, she just responded with, "I know!" So that's not good customer service. The gratuity was charged onto the card without our knowing in advance that would happen - highly unusual for parties of fewer than 6 people... She definitely guaranteed herself a bigger tip that way. The noise level was defeaning - we were shouting just to hear each other and the dining room is a small space. They really need to do something about that. It would ruin any romantic date.
Overall I'm glad I've had other positive experiences there and hope this isn't a downward trend, otherwise I won't continue to spend my money there.
Chicken and waffles was superb!
Birthday. Wonderful experience and service.
Excellent food, wonderful service, nice atmosphere and really fun music!!
This was the first visit to Magnolia's on King for dinner in about three years, having been in a number of times for cocktails. The service was so-so, the meal slightly better, but the ambiance & charm of the spot is undeniable. The upstairs cocktail bar, while small, makes any visit there worthwhile.
While the food was very good, the service was not optimal. The place was not crowded but it would seem that no one paid attention to what was going on on the floor except for the part of 6. I had to ask twice for service. Once my guest arrived, the service was slightly better but still too slow for the crowd size.
This was my second time there and will try again maybe dinner next time. The food is good my hope is that the service improves. I still will recommend this place but to do warn them about the slow service.
The food was excellent in every way. Fresh, delicious and attractive presentation. Our server was outstanding, and even had a sense of humor. Highly recommend this restaurant.
My well done steak was tough and tiny for $40. Just because it’s well done doesn’t mean it has to be tough regardless of what the waitress believes. An automatic 20% gratuity was charged for food I did not enjoy. What happened to 18% anyway? I’m not going back.
Wonderful menu options and delicious food.
AMA-ZING! The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back for brunch soon!
Food was cold and took about an hour to be served. Limited menu. Kinda disappointed. :-(
The food was very good. The cornbread that came with the prokchop was outstanding. The only thing I would recommend is to update the bathroom and little
We met up for brunch with friends we hadn't seen for a long time. The waiter was understanding that we wanted to talk awhile before ordering and left us alone which is just what we wanted. For the food, we ordered a couple of chicken and waffles, scrambled eggs, and the fried green tomato eggs benedict. The last was the best dish. The chicken and waffles were just so-so. The place is small and got quite loud as more people came. I would try another place for brunch in Old Town.
The food was very good and the value was great as well. The servers were very attentive.
Food and service were terrific during brunch on a Sunday but the noise level upstairs where we were seated was outrageous. There was a noisy, multi-person party near us and they elevated the noise level to very uncomfortable. Beyond that I loved what has to be my 5th time there.
Excellent quiet evening at a nice old townhouse restaurant with great food and service.
The food was not good. It remainder me of hotel restaurant quality that is neither freshly prepared or anything memorable.
Crab dip was bomb
First time at Magnolias on King and we had a good experience. The service was good and attentive without feeling rushed. Our cocktails were great and the the wine suggestions with our meals were good. We started with the mixed green salad which was big so they split it for us. We both had the shrimp and grits as our entree and it was tasty and not too rich as we were expecting. We also ordered the cornbread which was wonderful. For dessert, we shared the coconut cake and while the portion was a bit small, it was very good. Looking forward to trying Magnolias out again soon and branching out a bit more to other dishes on the menu.
My overall experience with Magnoilas was a great one. I had an exceptional server named Nicholas that made my dinner that much better. I enjoyed wine tastings with each dish which elevated the experience that much more. I would HIGHLY recommend the banana bread for dessert, it was DECADENT.
Everything was delicious. Portions were great. I will be back soon.
