Coming from the team behind Hackney's Pidgin, we call our food 'modern European' which basically means nothing and everything at the same time. Dishes aren't rooted in any particular cuisine but instead focus on great ingredients combined to make something that is above all delicious but that also contains some element of surprise - whether that's Jerusalem artichoke with a ranch butter sauce and avruga caviar, steak tartare with truffle crisps and taleggio or oysters with apple and chilli crisp.
Our wine list includes the biggest selection of wines on tap in London, as well as a small list of wines by the bottle, all from independent and independently minded producers.
Cocktails are potent and fun and include a szechuan pepper oil negroni and a kombu-infused martini.
We look forward to seeing you at Magpie soon.

Nice venue but overall disappointed in the food, perhaps as I had heard really good things and it didn't match up to my expectations.
Had a great lunch here with friends. Food and service delicious. Good options on the set lunch menu. Portions generous, lovely wine list.
Lovely atmosphere, service and delicious NYE menu which was great value for money
Delicious food, great service at a reasonable price for the location
The food and cocktails were exceptional and the service was great as well. Highly recommended! I would definitely come back again.
Superb food that lets the flavours do the talking!
Great atmosphere, friendly service, reasonable prices and in the centre of London - what's not to like?!!
We asked to share every single meal and we got tiny plates for that. They weren't very convenient.
Also when I book the table I asked for something small and sweet for my friend's birthday but we didn't get anything. I don't know if that's an issue with the Opentable website or the restaurant. That's a shame.
Overall had a nice meal, which was slightly tainted by the roast chicken which was not fully cooked.
Came here with my boy friend to celebrate our anniversary. Amazing food, good service and great ambiance!
Great food, ambience and chilled out yet attentive staff
Good experience at the Magpie! We went Saturday for lunch, and were only the second busy table. Quiet restaurant with great food and service!
Lovely atmosphere and food was delicious- the steak tartar and calamari were amazing!
Have been back to Magpie twice in the space of a month because the food is so delicious and the service is great. The croquette and fried chicken starters are delicious and the mushroom risotto that I had for main this time round was perfect. Would definitely recommend and will go again!
Our lunch at Magpie was wonderful; the food was considered, seasonal and cooked beautifully whilst the service was some of the best I've ever encountered. Thank you Magpie!
A perfect place at that time of day for me eating out solo.
Magpie is the central London sister of Hackney's Pidgin. It's menu is along the same lines. Food was good. Has the feel of a neighbourhood restaurant which was great.
Well then 50 words to say it was really really good! The food was superb, we‘ll come again! *\*
Great food, lovely service and a really knowledgeable, friendly sommelier
Amazing food and service. Slightly small portions for the price, but beautiful tasting lunch. Very quiet for late lunch but sure it would be busy at other times
Delicious...creamy burrata, delicious beef. Great staff. I'll be back!
Very nice meal with good ambience and great location. Service was very good. And the cocktail I had was delicious.
Lovely meal, good service, although I think I preferred the previous incarnation with the trolley service!
What a brilliant restaurant. Delicious food, great service, beautiful atmosphere - it was like being in a movie! Have the fried chicken to start; it was delicious.. thank you!
Lovely spot! We were a group of 6 and shared a few small plates and had each a main. We were all very happy and satisfied with the food quality and quantity. The a la carte menu is not cheap but the lunch set menu is good value! The service was very friendly attentive and patient. Would want to go back!
Food ok but nothing memorable and not flavoursome
Service awful considering we were one of 4 tables in the restaurant. The waitress kept wanting to take the menu away but there was no one else she needed to give it to. She had no personality and made no effort to interact with us.
Sehr coole Location, modern und schick in der Einrichtung. Moderne Küche, sehr interessante Zutaten-Zusammenstellung und Verarbeitung, Interessante Weinkarte. Beim nächsten London-Aufenthalt wieder...
So great. I don't aim to return to places often when there's so many restaurants to try in London, but I will definitely be going back to Magpie.
Love this place. Went twice in a week. Awesome food and lovely ambience. The roast is realllly good.
Really delicious food- you could tell thought had gone into the flavour combinations and everything added something to the dish! Friendly staff and good location too- hidden from the bustle of regents st.
Creative and delicious food in an awesome space. Staff very knowledgeable. Friendly atmosphere. Stands out as the best place to eat on Heddon Street
Fantastic friendly service but everything else was a let down. I can only describe the food at this place as dull and boring. No atmosphere either with very few diners. The food has no pizzazz whatsoever and the flavours throughout are really bland. In fact I struggled to get any flavour out of my dessert. Hated the toilets as well. I feel sorry for anyone who sits opposite the entrance to the loos. Horrid taps and sink in full view of the diners. Not hip and trendy, just wrong.
Such a lovely restaurant in an upmarket pedestrian square. Excellent food and service.
Always nice to come here on a weekend afternoon. It is fairly quiet and you can easily spend a couple of hours at Magpie. Food is outstanding and changes every month (so do cocktails!). Great selection of wine on offer, too. Service is very good - friendly and effortless.
food choices v poor and v overpriced, waitresses sporadically attentive
Great value set lunch, delicious and fresh seasonal food and a good wine menu
Weird bar experience (crappy stools & limited menu), but everything else superb. Menu & food prep were top notch, and best dessert (mousse) on the planet. well done!!
Client suggested the venue and wanted something off the beaten path and not too expensive. This hit the spot in terms of secluded location and a good lunch menu that wasn't overly filling/complex. It ticked the boxes for all - the dishes had random combinations (squid & sausage) and the pickled fries aka ready-made salt & vinegar chips but importantly, they all worked and lunch was polished off.
Wonderful place with amazing service, food and drinks!
First rate in every respect and highly recommended
The food was overpriced and lacked taste and even though we had booked a table in advance all the outside tables were given to walk-ins. As a result we were the only guests dining inside which felt weird.
