Lovely Restaurant, but very noisy and that was with just tables 4 being used. It is very echoy you could here everyone’s conversations.
Service was excellent, roast dinner was ok but the roast potato’s were very dry.
We were a table of four, all ordered different meals and all loved what we had - we couldn’t fault the food. Our only criticism would be that the restaurant was very noisy and so difficult to have a conversation but we will be back and loved it!
Very disappointing food. I had a rice salad for starter - very average and vegetarian burger - very disappointing, not sure why soda bread roll, really uncomfortable to eat, hard to bite. Not sure if I come back.
My partner and I had the Sunday Roast which was very tasty. Good size portions and plenty of extras accompanying the roast.
My only issue was the service which was moderate but it makes the difference between a flawless experience and one which is OK. We waited a while to be noticed when entering, we were seated too close to the front door so everyone entering was disrupting our meal, we were given the wrong soup, there was confusion over the soup of the day etc.
The staff were nice - just did not seem to be trained particularly well.
Great. Lovely food. Great staff
Nice way to spend a Sunday lunch time
This is a fantastic restaurant for Sunday lunch. Great food, generous portions and the service was excellent. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends as well.
Excellent food, good portions, very attentive and friendly staff. The main restaurant is very noisy, there is a quieter space for dining if required. Highly recommended
We enjoyed our meal and it was good value for money.
Great welcome and service, great food, Re booking asap
Sunday lunch was fantastic, so many choices of vegetables and great roast potatoes.
Excellent food and service. Lots of space around tables as well. Very pleasant and a good selection of wines.
Booked a table for evening meal with friends. On arrival we were seated in area near the bar near a group of young mums with their babies.
Food was delicious and will defiantly go back, but will ensure we get seated in main restaurant.
After a couple of recommendations from friends we booked here and were not disappointed. The food was good with the service from the girls being outstanding.
We will visit again
Maison Sax is definitely one of my favourite Sunday Roast options but unfortunately on this visit, we booked near the end of service and the food reflected that. Ive always had great roasts but we certainly felt we got the end of day cuts. Otherwise, another enjoyable afternoon.
A regular, love all meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner. But a couple of times now when going for Sunday lunch items run out which is disappointing. A couple of weeks ago there were no Roasts left & this week no Apple Crumble ☹️. But it’s still the best in town & probably saved us!!🤣
Very friendly staff, good selection on the menu & a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend
When we arrived, we were not expected even though we had booked a table, It turns out that other people who got there early didn't like where they were sitting so they took our table, we were... found a table squeezed in else where but not in the restaurant, the waiters keep taking other peoples meal to other table, which cause a bit of a laugh between the tables, as by the end we knew which table had ordered what food and ended up directing the waiters to that table.
Nice place, seems like it was good food, but on a busy night you need to be control of the tables.
staff are very friendly and the food is presented beautifully and tastes delicious.
It was our first time for Sunday Lunch. Lovely surroundings. Delicious food and superb service. It was very busy, I believe 125 covers over the lunch time so whilst it was fairly noisy there was a great atmosphere. Will definitely be going again.
Always get a good breakfast with friendly helpful staff
Excellent as usual! Staff, food, ambiance and value all outstanding!
Service was excellent from start to finish. Food was great especially the Sunday menu that had set courses on so was good value. However the noise in the restaurant needs addressing. You can’t even hear yourself speak and it wasn’t even that busy at the time. Restaurant needs to add some rugs or partition screens to help soften the noise.
We were pleasantly surprised by how nice Maison Sax was. We had read it was dog friendly and had our little Bichon with us, and upon arrival we realised he wasn't allowed in the main restaurant, but they did find us a lovely booth table in the bar area, which was lovely.
We all (4) enjoyed various starters, and my guests had the Sunday roasts whilst I had Red Mullet. All made very agreeable noises and gave thumbs-up.
We will certainly return when we're in Poole next.
Very nice environment, good menu and food was very nicely cooked. Service was good. Maybe could have been a little more proactive but pleasant, responsive, friendly and professional. This is a very nice restaurant and I would recommend it.
Great welcoming venue tho can be a tad noisy when busy. Service staff are excellent and the food tasty and pleasing. The vegetarian ravioli starter was especially interesting and satisfying. Looking forward to our next visit.
We took my parents for a birthday lunch. We were given a warm welcome and were shown to the new dining room on the basis they had several large parties in the main dining room.
My husband had the venison which was cooked perfectly, we both had the cheese soufflé to start which as per usual was divine.
The service was attentive and the food excellent. David and his team continue to do a great job and we look forward to returning.
Outstanding in every way, there is little to touch the quality of food, service and value in Poole, Bournemouth or Christchurch, long may it last!
I haven’t been here for quite sometime. It’s now changed to a restaurant on both sides. It was lovely. Personally much better. The food was delicious. Had the Sunday roast. There was so much food there.. the service was very good. Always checking to see if we had enough drinks. Also enough condiments to go with our food. Would recommend my friends to go. Very good service.
New Years Eve menu. Chateau was great and worth the money at £70 per head but felt the vegetarian option fell quite short and menu was limited. Chateau was to share, but did not have anyone to share with so next thing I like on the menu (choice of 3) was the vegetarian option - would have liked another meat choice.
Fantastic food and service
Wonderful evening with great friends - food is always great - thank you
We had a wonderful meal - great service as the staff were so friendly and helpful - will definitely be recommending to friends and family
Lovely food that all our party were happy with.
Very nice, friendly reception and service throughout.
Didn't like the acoustics - no soft furnishings means that a group of happy people on another table equates to tinny, overpowering noise, making it difficult to hear people in your own group.
It was average in everything, not somewhere I’d recommend
We have been to Maison Sax several times over the past year and always enjoyed it. However, for the first time we were seated in the area to the left of the entrance where the bar is. The bar was very busy, and the noise level was very high. I think there were a couple of groups making most of it. Our food was still very good and we had a nice waitress, but the evening was a little spoiled by being so close to all the noise. Having booked ahead rather than walking in off the street, we were surprised not to be seated in the restaurant area.
Our first visit following a recommendation.
Really enjoyed the ambiance and thought the food good and the prices reasonable.
Excellent food on Tuesday evening and we were so lucky to be looked after by Jonny who in my opinion is one of the top hospitality professionals in this town. As always first class service from Jonny and great food made for a lovely evening.
Fabulous in all areas!
We've never before paid a supplement for roast beef. To be honest it wasn't worth an extra £2.50. The meat had fat & gristle running through & my husband couldn't eat it. The meal was deducted from the bill but we had no apology or comment from the staff which was a bit off. Food does not live up to the pleasant surroundings unfortunately.
Fabulous evening out and meal at Maison Sax. Wonderful ambiance in the restaurant and bar area and the food was delicious. Such an excellent range of dishes. They have done such a great job with this venue, in terms of the quality of food and the environment to dine in. Would definitely like to go back again on another occasion.
