I haven’t been here for quite sometime. It’s now changed to a restaurant on both sides. It was lovely. Personally much better. The food was delicious. Had the Sunday roast. There was so much food there.. the service was very good. Always checking to see if we had enough drinks. Also enough condiments to go with our food. Would recommend my friends to go. Very good service.
New Years Eve menu. Chateau was great and worth the money at £70 per head but felt the vegetarian option fell quite short and menu was limited. Chateau was to share, but did not have anyone to share with so next thing I like on the menu (choice of 3) was the vegetarian option - would have liked another meat choice.
Fantastic food and service
Wonderful evening with great friends - food is always great - thank you
We had a wonderful meal - great service as the staff were so friendly and helpful - will definitely be recommending to friends and family
Lovely food that all our party were happy with.
Very nice, friendly reception and service throughout.
Didn't like the acoustics - no soft furnishings means that a group of happy people on another table equates to tinny, overpowering noise, making it difficult to hear people in your own group.
It was average in everything, not somewhere I’d recommend
We have been to Maison Sax several times over the past year and always enjoyed it. However, for the first time we were seated in the area to the left of the entrance where the bar is. The bar was very busy, and the noise level was very high. I think there were a couple of groups making most of it. Our food was still very good and we had a nice waitress, but the evening was a little spoiled by being so close to all the noise. Having booked ahead rather than walking in off the street, we were surprised not to be seated in the restaurant area.
Our first visit following a recommendation.
Really enjoyed the ambiance and thought the food good and the prices reasonable.
Excellent food on Tuesday evening and we were so lucky to be looked after by Jonny who in my opinion is one of the top hospitality professionals in this town. As always first class service from Jonny and great food made for a lovely evening.
Fabulous in all areas!
We've never before paid a supplement for roast beef. To be honest it wasn't worth an extra £2.50. The meat had fat & gristle running through & my husband couldn't eat it. The meal was deducted from the bill but we had no apology or comment from the staff which was a bit off. Food does not live up to the pleasant surroundings unfortunately.
Fabulous evening out and meal at Maison Sax. Wonderful ambiance in the restaurant and bar area and the food was delicious. Such an excellent range of dishes. They have done such a great job with this venue, in terms of the quality of food and the environment to dine in. Would definitely like to go back again on another occasion.
Only ever been for lunch, but always great food & service. Lovely warm cosy feel with fire too
A sublime dining experience! Great food, well thought wine list, attentive and knowledgeable staff and rely comfortable in the newly added ‘Hush’ dining room.
It’s our fave place made even more fave by the latest menu which features a broad choice of veggie and vegan options alongside the regular menu. Back soon!
My husband and I like to treat ourselves on a Sunday to a roast dinner out and we also like to try different venues. We have been several times to Maison Sax and the staff are always very welcoming and attentive.
On this occasion we took my daughter and her partner. We all had the Roast Beef which was absolutely delicious, with lovely home made huge Yorkshire pudding and a side dish of Cauliflower cheese (part of the meal). Great Roastie, highy recommend.
An excellent first experience at what is a hidden gem in the Lower Parkstone/Ashley Cross area of Poole. Good food and wine with a great atmosphere. We will be back!
Great service and food and incredible value! We will be back!
Food is great, service is not reflective of the price you pay
Yes,when you open the Quiet room .
Also ,we thought that the Pork Belly was very fatty and value for money would be to have 2 slices.
Would prefer Pork Loin. Also, to have a £2 surcharge for Beef -does not offer value for money.
Lovely meal and attentive staff, but was a little slower than we would have liked and quite noisy
Went for Sunday Lunch,3 courses, beautifully cooked,my only criticism would be the beef is cooked too rare and the server should ask how you like your beef cooked, also at this price point a £2-50 supplement for beef is a bit silly and uncalled for. Other than that ,I really enjoyed everything.
We went to have a pre show meal and had an early 6pm booking. The staff were very friendly and advised us that the table reserved for us was next to a large party which were quite loud and therefore they sat us well away from the group which we really appreciated. There was a new menu launched that evening and it was new to the waiting staff who handled the order very well, the meal was lovely. We didn’t feel rushed and the lighting and ambiance was just right.
We are very happy to recommend the restaurant and look forward to going back
A little too noisy for us, food was nice but a few tweaks needed. Suggestions could have been made to align the right sides with the meal having not known the size of what was on offer.
More sauce needed with monktail. Steak was cooked more than medium rare but still edible.
The first lady who worked behind the bar and saw us to the table was very professional and a credit to the establishment.
More choice on wine
I would come back
We ordered 3 x fish and chips and burger . Fish and chips went back - soggy batter, burger ok , desert portion size was very small asked for a additional piece which was freely added to existing, so in conclusion staff very good , food ok
Service was brilliant, food was lovely however particularly expensive for portion size.
First time to the restaurant and bar.
Food was superb couldn’t fault it.
However we are a couple (35-40years old) and we’re seated between a party of 5 average age 60 and a party of 4 average age 70.
This wasn’t a problem until a lady who was attending a function to the rear of the restaurant and was clearly drunk, decided to come and say hello to her friends and literally perched herself on the seat next to me and sat their for our entire main meal cackling away.
It actually ruined our evening. However the food was absolutely fantastic. The service was slow as they were busy but all waiters and waitresses were very polite and could not have been more helpful.
It was just unfortunate we had an extra un invited drunk dinner guest which spoilt a potentially fantastic experience.
Great food, nice people, good value, what’s not to like?
The midweek set menu is amazing value for money - beautifully presented tasty food. Fantastic service.
Excellent service, quality and pricing. Our second visit and once again we couldn’t fault it at all. Well managed and great quality food. Compliments to the chef. 5 star all round.
As usual our dinner at Maison Sax was a delight with good food and wine and affordable prices.
We were fortunate that the owners, David and Elaine were there to give us a warm welcome.
The restaurant was full, so we extremely lucky that there was a cancellation which permitted us to dine there on a busy Saturday night.
Very helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere....and you are using a brilliant cab company to get us home.
We took friends to Maison Sax for breakfast. We were made very welcome and the food was excellent, as well as good value. It was a bit eerie as we got there at 10am on a Saturday and there was no-one else in the dining room. However, families started to arrive and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The whole place has a good atmosphere and great decor and is very clean. Would definitely go back!
The venue was recommended by a friend. There’s a nice outside area for a casual meal or drinks with friends on those sunny days. It’s paved and a little character-less but well kept and better than most for a town location. My wife thought the restaurant was a little bleak (we haven’t been together and she met with friends in the garden). It was quiet when I ate with a pal at 19:00 but filled out as the evening went on. I thought it was okay and perhaps better than most around the area. Choice and quality of food was good. Staff were approachable and very helpful. I’d happily go back and recommend it to friends.
When we arrived we were greeted like old friends although none of us had been there before. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We ordered 5 meals, one duck, one Caesar salad, one bass and two fish and chips.
There was a long wait for the meals. When they did come, the duck was fine, but the bass was cold, the Caesar salad had tomatoes in it and only one fish and chips arrived. After a long delay, the rest of us had nearly finished, a staff member appeared to say there had been a mishap in the kitchen and they were now cooking a fresh fish and chips. Another long delay, by which time the rest of us had finished and it appeared. The fish was very small and the chips not properly cooked. In fairness we were not charged for that meal, but it was very disappointing dining experience..
Lovely food. Front of house staff also lovely. Service however is so, so slow. Took nearly two hours for a two course meal. It wasn’t even busy. I would not return based on this I’m afraid. I felt sorry for front of house staff who were clearly embarrassed about the time it took for food to arrive.
Although the food was ok the noise level was so loud that it spoilt the evening. There was a wedding reception in full swing in the adjoining room. As both rooms share the same bar, the loud party music filtered through to the restaurant making it impossible to have a conversation with the people on our table. I would have appreciated a mention of the wedding that night so I could have made the decision to book elsewhere if I chose to. Also three beers were sent back as they were flat. A very disappointing evening.
Great food - lovely ambiance- lovely garden. Thank you
No member of staff came over to take our order after 15mins so I had to go to the bar. It then took them an hour after ordering our meals for them to tell us they no longer had roast beef! We left and went to the dancing moose for food.
Lovely decor, great staff and we had huge expectations for Sunday roast. Unfortunately the beef rump was far too chewy and they should consider a different cut. Cauliflower Cheese was very poor with hardly any cheese and just the base roux. The roast potatoes were appalling, hardly even cooked never mind roasted. Finally the veg was undercooked. I like al dente veg but this was just under cooked. I would consider going back for the pub ambiance and maybe try another dish but for Sunday Roast just not good enough.
