Owing to its austere black and white décor and the fact that it is part shoe store, Maketto may pleasantly surprise diners with its inspired take on Cambodian and Taiwanese cuisines. The whimsical menu is composed of large plates and small. Entrée items include the crispy Taiwanese braised pork belly, the comforting spicy yellow curry chicken soup, duxelle stuffed tofu and Maketto fried chicken and bread. Small plates, which make excellent side dishes, include local greens salad, pork steamed bao and pan seared leek buns.

Maketto's special dim sum menu, served only on Sundays, is a crowd pleaser, and features soy milk and Chinese donut sticks, rice noodle crepe with shrimp and a turnip cake topped with crunchy crumbles.
