Executive chef John Speranza plates up a beautiful and satisfying dining experience focusing on close to source dining and paying significant care to dietary requirements.
Two menus are available at Malt with an express bistro offer in the bar and a more refined dining experience in the Attic that showcases contemporary food techniques with a relaxed style service.
Malt dining is located in the Brisbane CBD, close to Eagle St Pier and all public transport. If you are looking for a romantic dining experience or a private corporate lunch Malt dining is the perfect inner-city sanctuary.
We look forward to hosting you and your guests soon.
The food had way too many sauces which did not complement each dish. The A/C was also way too cold and was not changed even though a number of the clientele were complaining. Really disappointed.
Food was unreal and the service was outstanding! If we lived in Brisbane we'd back every weekend!
The food was incredible. Myself and my wife had the meat degustation menu for $89. Great value.
Definitely recommend Malt Dining. Only negatives were the length we waited between course 1 and 2 was far too long and I sat without a beer for 15 mins before I managed to get the attention of a passing waitress but in terms of the food and overall experience, we’ll definitely be back!
Loved it. Friendly service and the food was amazing. We ordered both degustations and shared them between 2. There wasn’t a serving that we didn’t love.
Great food;flavourful, interesting and well put together. High quality service and ambience.
Attentive service and enjoyable food.
Difficult for all during COVID but staff managed very well.
Delicious food, friendly and helpful but unobtrusive staff, excellent service and ambience. A great dining experience!
Excellent food, excellent service. Had a great anniversary there.
Really lovely experience. We look forward to dining at the restaurant again.
Absolutely fabulous experience at Malt Dining. The venue is lovely and relaxed with lots of ambience but no ‘noise’ per se. The food was exquisite and interesting. We went for my husband’s birthday and were spoilt for choice of vegetarian options. We loved that the food was locally sourced and the beers were all local, including the having a local microbrewery (Slipstream from Yeronga) on tap. We ended up going for the menu options rather than the degustation as it was significantly cheaper but gave us nearly all the same options. Our waiter was brilliant; he was knowledgeable, friendly and not remotely snooty. When I booked online, I put a note in that it was my husband’s birthday and when we ordered dessert, without being reminded, it came out with a candle! I was just so impressed at this restaurant! Best of all, it was extremely reasonably priced, I couldn’t believe we were able to get such a gourmet experience with a few drinks for under $200. Overall, I couldn’t recommend Malt Dining highly enough and thoroughly look forward to going back soon.
We dined on Thursday the 1st of October, We all had a degustation 1 vegetarian, 2 omnivore and with wine pairing.
My friend has allergies to chilli and capsicum (which I informed before arrival) and Malt happily altered the meals.
The wine pairings were perfect and the food was amazing, with flavours paired that I have not tasted before but all worked well.
The staff were lovely, knowledgable and fun.
We all can not wait to go back later in the year and try the summer menu.
The restaurant also has a lovely atmosphere with brick walls and high wooden ceilings.
I would recommend this restaurant for any from business meetings to an anniversary and everything in between!
We ordered all of the non-meat dishes on the menu which was about half the cost of the vego tasting menu for two. The food was interesting, creative, and tasty, almost all vegan with a bit of fish in one dish. The kitchen is great but the restaurant is otherwise pretty disorganized, scattered service and slow. It is unfortunate they did not take as much care with the décor as in the amazing quaint bar downstairs. Not sure I would go back.
We had the degustation and it was amazing. I was really impressed and would definitely recommend. The portions were quite large as well, which was rather refreshing given I often walk away hungry now -a-days when I have fine dining.
From the service to the food and atmosphere, outstanding, small menu done exceptionally well. Four of us had the tasting plates, 6 courses of well thought out extremely tasty food. In fact the 6 course was probably one course to much, great value and would recommend to all, and a very well made Whisky sour to start.
That was a first class tasting experience. So many fine flavours working together. Wines matched to the courses was a great experience.
Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Very cosy restaurant tucked away in a lovely building. Food has always been excellent. We went here most recently for our anniversary and received a little bottle of french champagne from the restaurant which was a lovely gesture.
This was our first visit to Malt, and most definitely will it be our last!
The food was extraordinarily good, the staff excellent and the ambience perfect!
Loved the personal touch for our anniversary too.
Absolutely fantastic night out, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend this as a place to dine. The gift for our anniversary was a nice touch.
We ordered the 6 courses with drink pairing & every dish was amazing! Best meal we’ve ever had by far. Highly recommend. Will be coming back!
Great service as usual, ambience and delicious food and drinks! 😊👌🏻
Lovely degustation with matching wines. Old world charm restaurant.
Loved Malt dining, most menu items are gluten and dairy free or can be made DF GF. Food was delicious, service was professional and friendly. It had a great feel about it, really enjoyable. Thanks
fantastic food, service, atmosphere
Amy was our server and was absolutely delightful
would recommend this restauraunt to anyone for a special occasion!
also incredibly considerate of food allergies
Always charming and attentive service. They know their menu and the food combinations really work- it’s nice to go somewhere that can cook better than your household.
We had the tasting menu (Veggie option and standard)and it was amazing. Each course got better and better.
Although my wife and I were fit to burst near the end of it, the food so so good, we had to persevere.
Great service and great food.
We would definitely go again.
A wonderful dining experience. Delicious food, great atmosphere with unobtrusive service.
We had a nice romantic diner at Malt.
No rush between the dishes, the tasting menus were interesting (both the vegetarian and the main one) and well balanced.
Dessert could be a bit more fun but I am more a "salt" person. Will definitely go back if the menu is renewed.
Great night out. Chef able to accommodate food allergies easily. Delishious artistic meals.
Amazing. Get the degustation, you will have zero regrets.
Outstanding service, the food was absolutely sublime, hard to pick a standout dish, but the Trout and the Pumpkin Wonton are at the forefront. Highly recommend getting the pairing drinks to your menu as they were superbly matched. Can’t wait to visit again.
We had the 6 course omnivore menu and found some of the dishes quite unpleasant due to the flavours. Although technically cooked well, we found some of the combinations of flavours unbalanced and bizarre. Additionally although the menu described BBQ cauliflower we were served one stalk of broccolini? The pumpkin wontons were delicious though! Service was pleasant however they did forget to bring one of our drinks until reminded. Overall we were disappointed given the cost of the meal and we wouldn't be likely to return.
I can't fault our dining experience at Malt. The food was incredible, and drink pairings were exquisite. Service was flawless. It was a very special treat for my 40th birthday. When another special occasion arises, I would love to return here.
Food was Nothing special. Service was rushed. Nice old building.
Music was annoying but the food made up for this irritation
Very nice food with very good pairing range across all courses and drink selection.
1. The paired drinks were unpleasant and detracted from, instead of complimenting the
2. They count the Amuse as one of the courses for the food component but don't
include it for the drinks component so you get 6 courses but only 5 drinks.
3. The Amuse was a tiny piece of pork in the middle of a store bought taco so it was
mostly just mouthfuls of dry bread.
4. The trout, pumpkin dumpling and cauliflower dishes were terrific, however the beef
dish was very ordinary and the dessert was so incredibly tart that it was inedible.
5. The courses were very big and came out too quickly so the evening felt rushed and
6. Despite rushing us all night, they then left us sitting for considerable time
without bringing us the bill so we ended up having to pay for our $300 meal at the
counter as though we were at a fast food chain.
We will not be going back to Malt Dining.
Perfect amount of food, great variety & taste. Matched drinks are amazing & we loved that they are not all wines. Also great value for a 6 course meal, we’ll definitely be back!
Went to Malt for a wedding anniversary. It more than met all of my expectations. The service was prompt and friendly, the ambiance was warm and pleasant, and food was exceptional. We had a great, relaxed evening.
