A little disappointed to be honest. Pancakes were ordinary and coffee arrived after we received our meal. Cafe only half full but service was slow
Very small, but lovely view. We sat inside with a view out to the river. Excellent service. Menu was a bit limited, but I believe they are looking at adding more dishes. Food was nice.
The chef is amazing, the coffee is superb. Gorgeous location. Excellent menu. Will definitely be returning! Book ahead to avoid disappointment.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Malt Pier with friendly service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere
Thanks for having us! Food was great the location as always is great. As a small improvement tip we were probably waiting a little long for drinks orders but its a tiny improvement tip from my personal persepctive but given the number of wait staff it would be difficult to have got to us any quicker!
Food was excellent but unfortunately let down by a front of house team who made you feel like a burden. No apologies for forgetting to put orders in or adding on items that were requested to be left off. Quick takeaway coffee service.
Excellent service and great food. It was just really windy that day and that was the only downside as we couldn’t sit inside
Great venue, but an average experience overall. Not amazing, but not terrible 🤷🏻♀️
Fantastic setting, great menu ....Chocolate brownie to die for
Close to the river at the bottom of an apartment building about 5-10 minutes walk from Gasworks. The food was delicious, with generous portions and the service was friendly. Stunning view of the river, with the river walkway to Hamilton just outside. We will definitely be back.
Great food. Great service.
A small though wonderful menu. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Malt Pier. It is relatively small in a quiet location. The service was amazing.
Went for breakfast and while the menu sounded really good and offered something different than standard options the food itself was pretty disappointing and just did not live up to expectations, I’d be very unlikely to return
Definitely 5 star. The location, menu and service is amazing.
Such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with wonderful food
Good service, interesting dishes, great ambience.
Good breakfast and lovely setting by the river. Friendly staff. A great venue for breakfast. Pancakes were huge and should be shared!
Delicious food in a nice location with attentive wait staff
Love Malt Pier. Perfect mixture of upmarket and relaxed.
Thought we'd give this cafe a third and final attempt at being a good dining experience and it was so bad, again! We booked via opentable and they didn't have our booking so we had to wait for a table anyway. Once we finally sat down it took 45 mins to get all of our coffee orders out (because they gave us the wrong coffee) and over an hour or so to finally get food. Only one server and it was Sunday morning (super busy). The manager wasn't very apologetic and the waitress suggested that we get one free coffee for the waiting and misunderstanding. This cafe has a weird culture where the people who live nearby think they should have their food and coffee before other customers - and they do. We saw so many orders go out to other customers before us and we had definitely ordered before them. If you're not in this weird clique I would suggest steering clear! Quite expensive for what it is too. Food was okay.
Great service, good selection on the menu and delicious food.
Staff were very lovely and fun. Made the experience all the more enjoyable.
We went here on my birthday and found the restaurant as we had a Good Food Restaurant voucher to use (we both have never been). Needless to say, we were so impressed with everything Malt Pier offered. The view, ambience, service, and of course the food - was to die for. We will definitely go back!
Fuss-free river dining with great swrvice, relaxed atmosphere.
Fantastic food and great service. Lovely spot by the river for lunch - highly recommend
We had a lovely lunch, the wait staff were attentive (maybe a little too much but they didn't have too many other customers - I think mainly the residents of the Pier apartments come here - the food was very good, limited menu due to upcoming changes (would have been good to see this reflected on the website so we could have made a more informed decision when choosing a restaurant). The kitchen staff need to remember they are in an open kitchen and everything they say / discuss can be heard by all diners. All in all a good experience but probably won't return in a hurry.
We have visited Malt many times and it never fails to impress us. Great service, fresh food and wonderful position.
I was impressed with Malt Salt on first two occasions but disappointed last time, meal was very small and had to fill up on dessert. Wait staff disorganised and offhand.
Lovely ambiance and peaceful background music to complement
Excellent food and service. The location is very quiet and relaxing . I'd recommend this to my friends for a very relaxing casual atmosphere.
I definitely recommend this quiet little restaurant on the river. Efficient, attentive and informative service, exquisite flavours in the duck breast dish, lovely passionfruit brûlée and brilliant long black coffee. Thank you for the recommendation to match the Pinot Noir with the duck - a beautiful wine. The whole meal was very well priced considering the quality and presentation of the food. A great place to treat someone special or visiting the area.
We went for breakfast. You MUST have the toasted banana bread with pistachio butter. SO GOOD! I had the folded omelette and a long black macchiato. My partner had the savory mince and a long black macchiato. When we were seated our server advised that they just got in 2 large tables and to be ready to order in 30 seconds in order you'll have a much better day. We laughed but since we had been there before, we were ready when he came back to take our order. It came out quickly, which was good. :-)
Be sure you make a booking, they get busy and you don't want to miss the banana bread!!
They also have take away coffee if you are in a hurry and just want a good cup.
Beautiful location, excellent service and tremendous value for money.
Lovely experience. Great service and the food far exceeded our expectations
Was an good experience until we went to pay the bill and we were charged $24 for sparkling water. We were asked if we would like unlimited sparkling or tap water. The water was filled into bottles from a zippo machine, not unsealed bottles of sparkling. So FYI - unlimited does not mean complimentary, and would we have still been charged $24 if we chose tap water?
We went there for my sister-in-law's birthday brunch. It was strange that they asked the occasion upon booking but there was no arrangement whatsoever. It was just an average visit.
The staff are always friendly and attentive. Great location. Food is consistently good.
Wonderful food and service, in a stunning riverside location flooded with light - great for lunch. The sous vide duck was delicious, as was the roast chicken lunch special. Excellent value for such great quality.
Yes because normally staff are very friendly and helpful. We have been here several times and usually have no issues.
Second time we have been to Malt Pier it was wonderful catered really well for coeliac great cocktails
