Malva Restaurante highlights Baja Californian cuisine, food that blends coastal fare from America and Mexico. Malva is a creation of restaurateur and chef Roberto Alcocer. All of the ingredients used at Malva are guaranteed to be as fresh as possible because Chef Alcocer owns and operates a nearby farm where he raises chickens, goats and sheep for use exclusively at the restaurant. Malva also owns the orchard and garden that is right next door, so the kitchen staff always knows exactly where its ingredients are coming from and that they are high quality.
Malva was extremely disappointing. For the price, it did not reach the caliber of other great restaurants with similar price points in the Valle. The service was terrible. They were not busy and we got bad service and had a new waiter walk up to us almost every time. We were mislead on a description for an appetizer plate that we did not eat and still got charged for it. No acknowledgment or good-bye as we left. Everything that makes you recommend a restaurant was lacking here.
Beautiful location. Amazing service. Perfectly cooked and delicious food. Looking forward to going back.
Our best meal over the six days we’ve been in Valle. These young chefs and the wine maker are quite a talented group. It was an honor to experience their craft.
Una experiencia que me gustaría repetir! Excelente servicio por parte del Chef y su staff
A really fun dinning experience. We had the chefs special tasting menu, which we enjoyed imencely. He readily substituted a dish we wanted to try (duck for chicken), and delighted us with every course. We found the service attentive, and pleasent. The food and service were completely disparent to the rustic enviornment. Which was part of the fun. I look forward to returning.
Great setting. Engaging staff. Best food of our two day stay in Valle Guadelupe.
I was really disappointed with Malva as the reviews were very positive. The service was not great, we did not have a specific server so no one took accountability for our table. The menu is very limited and they were out of one of the items (duck carnitas) so I had to go with something I didn’t really want (the chicken). The dishes were ok - the chicken was not very good and in general there is much better food in Valle. I would not waste your time with Malva.
We love visiting Malva! Every time we are in the Valle de Guadalupe, we look forward to our meal here, and it never disappoints. Outstanding service, delicious food!
Rustic vibes, very hospitable staff, beautiful and delicious food. The chef even came out to say hello. I’d highly recommend if you are in the Valle. Note that they only have pre-fixe menus.
Lovely. Gracious hostess..delicious food.
Great dining experience. Creative dishes and delicious flavors.
Beautiful plating... The food is the star here.
I had the restaurant to myself!!!!!Everything was wonderful! I bought a few bottles of wine as they have their own in house winery!!! I highly recommend their Sauvignon Blanc!!!!
The food was absolutely stunning and delicious. We had eaten at 4 high end restaurants in the area before Malva, which was our last stop, and were not expecting much; however, we were blown away at the creativity and maturity of the dishes. We ordered the tasting menu for lunch, which consisted of about 6 or 7 small dishes, plus a few surprises along the way. Each dish was superb and our meal consisted of some of the best dishes I've had in the area. For about $50 US per person, without drinks it's well worth the cost.
The location feels a bit like being in a tree house and the weather was perfect for being outside; however, I can see it getting cold if you are not properly dressed. The location is much less sophisticated than some of the other up-scale restaurants around, but it adds to the intimacy and charm of the restaurant and truly provides a unique experience. It's also important to mention that there is livestock nearby and I've heard that the smell can be distracting when hot and the winds pick up, so may be worth considering if you are sensitive to this (but we did not have this problem).
As a luxury travel writer, my husband and I travel the world seeking great food experiences and what we find in Valle de Guadalupe rivals that of most Michelin Star restaurants we've eaten at. Malva is an excellent foodie destination for anyone who appreciates the artistry of cuisine and enjoys having their taste buds challenged. We will absolutely be back!
Cool restaurant. It's located on the side of a hill and looks a bit like a tree house. It's very intimate, maybe only 5-6 tables, so make a reservation if you can. The food was absolutely delicious (mostly fresh, light, farm to table options) and it was fun watching the chefs make the food in the open kitchen. If you'll be in Valle de Guadalupe, this is definitely worth a stop!
Degústamos la cena de 9 tiempos y cada uno estuvo delicioso, platillos con sabores sutiles y originales; quedamos gratamente sorprendidos.
Que experiencia! La comida estaba riquisima. Recomendare malva a todos mis amigos!
Loved every minute of it. Only 1 other couple, so felt like a private tasting dinner.
Great experience, simple and at the same time complex. A very relaxing place with outstanding food. A most in town! Ricardo the chef will make your visit unique. Enjoy
Extrodinary culinary experience Incredibly beautiful setting . FIVE STARS PLUS
Best meal I've had in quite a long time. Great wines, paricularly the Sauvignon Blanc. Oysters, rabitt sausage, and an extraordinay fish called Scholar. The setting absolutely lovely. It remained us of Tuscany.
The food was outstanding. The wine pairing not so much.
First of all : Food is amazing!
Now to the bad stuff:
we attended the Mother's Day event with a 4 courses menu, the place was practically empty, only 2 tables when we arrived.
We ordered the tasting menu including salad, pasta, a delicious fish and dessert, the first 3 came to us at the same time, we just felt like they were rushing us, plus it was quite uncomfortable that main chef Roberto Alcocer was scolding his staff in front of us, food and wine, are excellent, but those details make you wonder if it's worth coming back
The food and ambiance at Malva are phenomenal but the service was frustrating. Our server spoke minimal English but did get our order 100% correct. However the food came out in an incomprehensible and unenjoyable way. Several in our group did not get appetizers and their entrees came out before anything else. They finished eating before the rest of us got our appetizers and then after we had gotten our appetizers the meat oriented entrees came out long after the seafood. Overall the food was great but the dining experience wasn't pleasant.

The food was very good. I think maybe 7 courses would be better. There were a couple courses that were a bit out of place. Loved the setting and service was great
Cannot recommend Malva enough and look forward to going back for their tasting menu
I highly recommend Malva! Each dish was beautifully crafted and the flavor profiles were perfect. The meats were all tender and delicious. I experienced the 10-course dinner which included oysters, lamb, rabbit, yellowtail, soup, salad, squash blossom, two desserts, and I know I'm missing a couple dishes still! All dishes came out in a timely manner and the serving staff was extremely attentive. The Malbec wine bottle that we ordered paired well and was mildly sweet. Malva is a must-do when visiting Valle de Guadalupe!
