Pronounced ‘mum’ and referring to the art of fermentation, the menu focuses on skewered meat cooked on a robata grill. The skewers predominantly feature cuts of chicken, but the kitchen also showcases weekly specials such as rare-breed beef and seafood. Served sharing style with rice noodle parcels, chopped veg, colourful pickles, an abundance of fresh Vietnamese herbs, lettuce leaves and rice paper wrappers, diners are encouraged to choose their own way of eating them.
The light, airy 40-cover restaurant, divided between a bar area at the front and dining room conservatory at the back, also offers a refined cocktail menu.
Really delicious food and a super cute space. The staff were very friendly as well and everything came quickly. I do usually pay less for vietnamese food so you can get a similar thing elsewhere for cheaper but this little nook has the complete package so makes the price worth it, as long as it doesn’t go up in the future!
Authentic Vietnamese food which is amazingly tasty and super reasonable. Our favourite local. Potentially the best Vietnamese in London.
Food is delicious. Good quantity. Love this restaurant.
Starter were really good but main courses could be a bit more tasty. The ambiance was really great and we could hear each other.
It is a beautiful venue! Given the location and the decor (it could be straight out of AD magazine), the prices are actually democratic. They do phos, skewers and rice bowls (all served with an abundance of fresh herbs and leaves) and encourage sharing. The cocktails' focus actually reminded me of the famous Nam Long Le Shaker in West London.
But the service was so off, it actually became funny. They went wrong pretty much every step along the way. None of the waiting staff around seemed to know the menu so they kept calling on each other for help. I’ve ordered a cocktail and they forgot to place the order at the bar. The food then took ages to arrive despite this being a quiet Monday night. It then took ages to pay and the card reader ran out of paper and then the waiter struggled to replace the roll.
But the food was good and the portions were generous and the staff are friendly and all smiles and were very apologetic about the mishaps. So I really hope the restaurant finds its bearing and I will be back after some time goes by to check!
Very good addition to the not very long list of good Vietnamese restaurants in London. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.
Wonderful! Third time we've eaten here and never been disappointed. Just terrific!!!
Great local restaurant
Good food good value
really nice atmosphere
Food was mostly good but we were rushed to leave even though there were plenty of tables available!
Second time here in as many weeks MAM shines with simple uncomplicated food, friendly fun staff and good cocktails. This is a true Neighbourhood gem.
The ambience is clean, a well managed mix of design and ethnic flavour. The result is a welcoming, relaxing small restaurant.
The food is very tasty, good portions and yet healthy. In terms of price-quality it is a win.
Recommended. Worth trying.
Good autentic food, good wine list, nice light and positive atmosphere
I was very disappointed with my experience at Mam on Friday.
The food was good but let down by poor service and rude staff.
When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly face. She showed me to my table which was laid for 5 people although I had booked for 6. We were missing a bowl and cutlery. I was offered water which came rapidly and then ordered a cocktail once I caught the eye of another waitress. My friends arrived and were each shown to the table. After catching the eye of another waitress they were able to order drinks. We then ordered a platter to share and waited to order main while waiting for a friend who was running late.
When ready to order mains 4 of us ordered and the waitress walked away before taking everyone's order. In this time a friend had to ask a second time for the beer he had ordered and another for the diet coke he had ordered. Our table was still full of our dirty plates from starter and empty glasses.
Mains arrived. Well 5 of them. Mine didn't. I waited 5 minutes before asking and when I asked I was told it was coming. 5 minutes later after being avoided by the waitress I managed to ask again where my dinner was and was told 'we have run out of rice, do you want anything else on the menu'. I thought my meal was on its way? When my meal still didn't arrive I questioned again and was told I hadn't ordered it. Why would I not have ordered it? She showed me a bill and it wasn't on there. Not my fault. I ordered it. Another 5 minutes and my dinner appears, with rice. The apology was weak and I even caught a waitress discussing my complaint with a colleague and not in a positive way. I have done nothing wrong other than pick this restaurant.
The waitress comes to apologise again and advises she will take the beef rib off the bill. The bill comes. We've now been in the restaurant over 3 hours! Beef rib is on the Bill. How is this so if I didn't order it?
Loved it. Food was delicious and could of gone back next day again for more! We will definitely be back.
I love the decor and the food is great. There's not too much choice on the menu but that is fine. They are well known and popular for their Fish Sauce Chicken Wings! I specifically go there just for that. Unfortunately my recent visit (in evening) they had sold out! Which was very disappointing. I advise people to go at lunch time if wanting to get this side dish!
There were many items not available on the day. For example the black seseame ice cream is not available (for month) yet it is in their menu?!?
Secondly the were many started and dishes they had run out off. Also no alternative on dairy . Asked for soya or oat mule with my tea.
Otherwise the food was great.
Really delicious food with very genuine service. She told us the restaurant is family run and she gave great recommendations and seemed to really hope we enjoyed everything. Which we did!!
The food was so delicious that I have already booked to come again next week. The service was also great too. Can't recommend it enough.
Amazing authentic Vietnamese food - the fish sauce wings are delicious but then so is everything else. Shame they were so busy that service was really slow with only one waitress. Would revisit again because of the food.
Great little spot for a date or even to shake the monotony of the week. Good shout for a date.
Dishes took ages to arrive. Took ages to let me know my main wasn’t available after ordering.
Get the dumplings! Top class service, great decor and lovely evening.
I love this traditional viet place... Good food for a great value, cosy atmosphere
Really nice Vietnamese restaurant in Notting Hill. Food is healthy and nice, not as authentic at some Vietnamese restaurants in East London, but very nice and simple. Everyone found something they liked. We were 10 people and had a nice long table at the back. Will def be back!
Great food with great environment. Will go back again.
Our first experience of Vietnamese cuisine ....we enjoyed it.
Impressed with the tasty food, generous portions and great drinks. Service was friendly and nice ambience. Good addition to the local area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening ,small cosy restaurant but beautifully decorated, the food was authentic and fresh , the staff very welcoming and efficient, we definitely will be going back asap.
Dumplings are amazing!
A real gem. We love this place! The food is outstanding and the service is great.
We’re from Australia and crave Vietnamese. We’ve been all over London looking for close to origin Asian food. This is by far the best Vietnamese we have tried. So much so we’ve rebooked for another visit.
So delicious. Dumplings were my favourite. Will definitely be back.
Everything was perfect, very good price for the quality they offer
Gorgeous food, lovely staff, great ambiance. Will be back for sure
Brilliant food especially the sticky fish sauce wings. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!
I booked a table for 2130 for three people. Arriving shortly before that time, and promptly escorted to the table. Orders taken, drinks had just been served when the waitress said that some of the starters were unavailable. Okay, so we altered our choices. Not long after being told this, she then retuned to say that they had run of Pho stock and that all Pho choices were off the menu. Its akin to walking into a chipper and being told no fish and chips available, but have some mushy peas etc. This is supposedly a renowned Vietnamese restaurant running out of its staple ingredient. I wrote to the establishment outlining what happened, but they haven't bothered to respond. A disappointing outcome, and a case of arrogance or contempt towards their customers.
Excellent food and glad it's on my door step. The staff are lovely.
Thanks you all, long may it continue.
The fish sauce wings were the highlight but the beef pho was only mediocre.
The food was tasty and authentic in Vietnamese flavours. The beer selection was disappointing. There was only one choice of Vietnamese beer which wasn't well rated, even by the waitress and the only other decent beer option ran out.
Service was very slow and staff had to be reminded 3 times that some of the drinks order had not arrived.
Good food as long as you don't mind waiting.
Food first time we went was amazing food on Friday was dreadful
