Normal resturant great design
the food wasnt thats good the shrimp was frozen
They have a good decoration but they need to close the street views and make the music littel loud and it would be perfect
Great place that breathes modern and cosy dining, whilst offering the comfort of Indonesian cuisine
The Place is pleasent and the service is very good, but the food is nothing to write home about.
We tried the rice table and it was nice to try different dishes. Some of the dishes were nice. Most of them were ok or not so good.
Quite disappointing, especially after reading such good reviews. And definitly not worth the high price. Sorry...
I have came to quite some indonesian restaurants in the netherlands. and I found that menu Nasi goreng is the best in the Netherlands. It recalls me about my home country. The taste is so Indonesia! Everyone must try.
Soto madura is good but the soup is a bit thin. Grilled fish dabu dabu is also nice...it is not spicy, i would have order more spicy one next time (if it is possible).
But for you who dont like spicy, it is recommended.
The sambal that they serve with krupuk is not that typical indonesian sambal... and I wish I can find terasi next time there
Lovely Restaurant with delicious Reistafel and moderate prices. Beer was also good :)
We had a nice evening and can recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Quality is variable, last experience recently (out of four) significantly below par.
Will not return soon.
the food was not good. It had nothing to do with Indonesian food. The tastes were even and uneventful. It was a big disappointment and we did cross you of our list
Interesting space and open kitchen with very good Indonesian food. Service was OK but nothing special even during a slow period before the evening rush. For a hotel restaurant it was a very nice change and a very good meal. Early diners get a 20% discount and the 2nd diner’s Rijsttafel charge is half before 18:30
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff but food was very disappointing. We were hoping for a good Indonesian experience, however the food was plain and missing the Indonesian flavor completely.
If you want real Indonesian food, don't go here! Plenty of restaurants in Amsterdam that serve significantly better food.
I did not have the impression everything was cooked fresh... I think they put everything in the microwave to warm up before they serve it... Of all the Indonesian Restaurants I've been too this was not the best...
Food was tasty and perfect! The place looked amazing! The people were kind and the service was on point.
The food was bland for Indonesian cuisine. Portions were not value for money. Was in a group of 8 people and we ordered 8 dishes to share, it was not enough. Would have ordered 2 extra dishes and 4 additional portions of rice. Deeply disappointed in the "authentic" experience since through their social media and online campaigns they kept saying they had an actual Indonesian chef, but the food was poor in taste, overall very bland. Although the stand outs were the Chicken Opor and Rendang. The Rendang had a very tender texture but flavor and portion could be better. Opor was on point on flavor, but a very small portion. My overall experience of this is that this restaurant had a great ambience and vibes, but failed poorly on flavor and value for money. A white washed Indonesian restaurant. If you don't like spicy food and food with strong flavors, this is the perfect restaurant for you.
Dutch waitress was a shame! Food nothing special, two starters tasteless (chicken, tuna), lontong to spicy. Cocktails, ambiance ok.
Lekker rijsttafel voor 2 personen gegeten in een mooi modern indonesisch restaurant . Erg mooi ingericht. Wel behoorlijk prijzig (4 eu voor een glas fris en 6,50 voor een glas wijn).
A great restaurant with beautiful food and outstanding, friendly service from the staff. A must visit restaurant.
This is a great place for and introduction to Indonesian cuisine. Very sensitive to American guests, as it's attached to an American hotel chain. Go here for dinner.
The food was very delicious. Ambiance was great. Nice music at the background. And the people are very kindfull
Nice venue. Service could improve, feels like a lot of unexperienced. Food was well flavoured and enough in quantity. Cocktails where nice.
Varied menu, with spicy and not spicy food. Very original. Not the cheapest, but it is worth it!
Super. Gerne wieder.
A lover of Indonesian food, I was happy to find this new Gem in Amsterdam. Mama Makan is part if the Hyatt Hotel, but it’s not your average “hotel restaurant”. It’s much cosier and less buisiness-like than that. The decoration and atmosphere are very nice and the food is great. We had the Rice table which was served in 4 courses. The flavors were teriffic and they even did their utmost best to make it less spicy for my partner. We really enjoyed it. The two ladies that served us in the restaurant were very friendly and took their time for us. We will definitely be back soon!
Price/ quality was out of order. The food was not heated by "resots" The ambience is okay.
The service is poorly, only foreign ( I think Russian) waitresses. I wouldn't advicse it to my friends. It was an event we will not repeat. I'm sure I will never visit this restaurant again.
Food was really delicious! The rice table was good value for money. Great variety of dishes.
Ambiance is also great!
Delicious and original food; very good service. Good ambiance.
Great food, great staff and great ambiance!
Uninteresting tasteless fish and the worst peanut sauce i ever had - watery and sour
We had a great time. The food was very good and the service outstanding. We will come back for a second time.
Great food. Had the set menu. Excellent. Manager was superb and talked us through every dish. Highly recommended!
Hands down the best service I've had in Amsterdam (although I don't frequent luxury hotels that often). It was so nice to have such attentive servers, at both the bar and restaurant, and feel that they were looking after your every whim (such as bringing over a candle when I was trying to read a newspaper in low light). The food was delicious, perfectly and subtly spiced, and great portions.
Beautifull decor, lovely food, great service adjusting the rijsttafel for dietreasons.
Great Indonesian food, very good and friendly service, modern but warm atmosphere.
Round table for family parties available.
Gado gado was good. Can be more veggie options. Service was very good
The service was very slow even though we have made a reservation. There were not many customers so it should not have been slow. The food was not tasty, I love Indonesian food but this was the worst one I have tried.
I would not recommend this place to anyone especially when you are very hungry.
I have had dinner here twice now. I love the atmosphere, the food, and the service. Everything was amazing! I can recommend the Rijsttafel!
They have a big wine menu and a really good bar with original cocktails as well!!
Food was delicious and the service was excellent. We tried the pre-fix menu as a group of 15 and left so full and satisfied. Every dish was perfect. I look forward to returning here next year.
Great place! Not overcrowded and very wel organised and designed..
Service was perfect untill it got a bit bussier. Just to little personel present at the peak moment. Could be that a certain review caused them to downscale the team?? Bit misplaced if you ask me. Well trained people on the floor aswell in the kitchen.
Food was on time and very well balanced..
Coming back for shure
Outstanding restaurant with phenomenal staff, top notch quality and highly authentic Indonesian cuisine, and a wonderful atmosphere. Our table of 6 tried almost every main course and, without exception, were impressed! We also met the head chef whose authentic Indonesian experiences clearly show in the cuisine.
Kudos to the management team, Fabio, Hannah and their colleagues, who left every guest feeling treated like royalty. We would be delighted to return to Mama Makan.
Mama makan implies by name an informal restaurant but it was very formal and stiff without any passion for what they were making or serving. The place is modern but directly you smell the kitchen and not in a positive way. We ordered the 'Rice table'. First the amuse was served, ordinary 'Kroepoek' you can't be serieus. Than it took about 1,5 hour to get 3 small starter and the restaurant was only 20% occupied.
The soto Ayam, chicken soup, was tasteless.
The rice table took another hour, most of the small dishes were salty and not very warm. The explanation of every dish was below poor. Some of the dishes were okay but nothing was really blowing away.
