This was our first visit to this restaurant. As it was near to Sadlers Wells we thought we would give it a go!! It was a great success. Great food and drink at a very reasonable price. Nice atmosphere although it did become rather busy, but it was a Friday night.
We will definitely return and recommend.
We were looking for a quiet spot with good food and that is exactly what we found but in addition all of the staff were pleasant and helpful which made the experience even better. The food was also reasonably priced and better than we have had at more expensive restaurants. We highly recommend it.
Lovely restaurant, three of us ate here before we went to the theatre, garlic bread, lasagna, pasta, lovely bottle of red wine, good service, Thank you
Excellent food and good service
The food was hot on arrival and value for money
A charming unpretentious and friendly traditional Italian restaurant.
Very enjoyable meal with friends here. Familar italian menu but everything was nicely done.
Staff were lovely. Prices were very good.
Wild boar ravioli was nice but lacked something. Fresh pasta nduja sausage was again good, but could have done with more chunks of the sausage
Overall would come back!
Delicious food, great service and a cosy restaurant.
Restaurant is very good and service was good. However they completely ignored that we had a table booked, they just asked if it was for 2. If they would have seen the reservation maybe they would see it was my boyfriend’s birthday and could have brought a candle with the dessert
Mangia Bene is not part of a chain. We go there every two to three weeks. It’s not expensive by London standards. The pizzas are very good and we like the sea bass on a bed of spinach. It’s normally full of people who live and work locally and quite a few work groups go there. What else? Well, it’s very clean that’s always a plus. If you are in The Alma pub opposite Mangia Bene the pub allows food to brought in so people get pizzas sent over from M.B. Sometimes on big football nights the restaurant puts the wall tv on.
Found this cosy little place through Google. Food was great and service, excellent. We especially loved the tiramisu and would come back for that alone!
We ate her before going to Sadler’s Wells, very enjoyable lunch, started off with an Aperol Spritz which was nicely mixed, the Mussels as a starter were delicious and the sliced steak very tasty indeed. Good value, nice service and pleasantly busy with people having a nice time.
Everything was good. Both food and service. Would go again if in the Islington area. Small authentic Italian family run restaurant.
Good quality food and a very relaxing environment.
The food was delicious but it took an hour to get it.
Homemade Italian food, whats not to like. It was a pre-show early dinner and it did not disappoint. A very good selection and attentive waiters. My friend had the gnocchi which was very good , and I had the mushroom tagliatelle which was really good too. We will return and try different dishes on the menu.
Delicious food and great service, a little gem of a place !
Good quality Italian food! It was really difficult to choose between pasta and pizza, 3 of us went for pizza and the other carbonara and we were all happy with our choices. The side salad and broccoli and especially the garlic pizza bread were good too! Wine was a reasonable price. The only thing that stopped me giving a 5 was my pizza was slightly overdone (some may like it like that but I couldn’t eat the crust) I would recommend if in the area or if going to Sadler Well’s theatre.
The restaurant was lovely, small restaurant, the food was fabulous, we had a combination of starters, mushrooms, Bruschetta, mains were Lasagna, pasta and steak, wine was lovely and cold. Service excellent.
Attentive staff, great food and a relaxed atmosphere. Great place to eat before the theatre.
Good Italian restaurant, you can taste some typical food from Italy including pizzas with more than reasonable quality. Prices are good and staff very friendly. Suggested both for people coming from different countries and for Italians that wanted to feel "at home" here in London. Service might be a bit slow in rish hours but still acceptable.
We had a great time here for my son’s 13th birthday - thank you to Mangia Bene - just what we were looking for.
This was the 7th time I’ve dined at Mangia Bene and there’s a reason I keep coming back! The food is incredible, fresh ingredients, tasty and generous portions. The service is friendly, quick and on the occasions I’ve attended in a wheelchair, the staff have been super helpful in making sure I am comfortable and can navigate the restaurant with ease. The space is low key, comfortable and unpretentious. In my opinion, this is the best Italian restaurant in London!
Wow. What a fabulous find. This is just one of many rave reviews. After five weeks in London eating high and low I can say this was the best food I’ve had. Simply tasteful straightforward yummy food. Just as all the reviews I read said.
We had spaghetti carbonara, cheesecake, and the fish grill sievial which was huge and perfectly prepared.
A hidden gem. Well worth making a reservation. Pizza especially good.
Excellent authentic Italian food in a non gentrified part of Islington. But very handy for middle class pre theatre dining for sadlers Wells!
Very tasty food and good value for money. Friendly staff, good service throughout. Was clearly popular as people waited for tables to become free, enjoying a drink (although standing) in the meantime.
Good service - relaxed friendly atmosphere - delicious food
We came to the restaurant for the first time after reading good reviews and it didn’t disappoint! We had the garlic bread & calamari for starter which was delicious, then a couple of mains & desserts. Food was all fantastic and would definitely return. The interior is quite simple inside but the food & service makes up for it.
Our main dishes were so good and great value but the starters were the complete opposite: expensive for small plates with little attention to quality. Would recommend for a quick tasty lunch but not for a nice dinner experience.
Amazing food. All home made. Best in London
Delicious Italian food. I would highly recommend this restaurant
We asked for a pizza that was not on the menu; the pizza was cooked to perfection
Meal before breakfast trip to ballet
Cheap and cheerful! Decent food; great tomato garlic bread!
Food was good, but service was very slow. Nice staff and nice atmosphere if you’re not in a rush!
Really lovely food and great service. The ambience is a little uninspiring but the food more than makes up for it! Definitely worth a visit and quite the hidden gem.
Great for a tasty Italian dish and a glass or two of wine!
Food was satisfactory. I opted for the pizza and was impressed . Will certainly be back. .
Lovely authentic food, although smallish portions. Attentive service. Busy and a little bit noisy. Great value.
