My wife's birthday and we were looked after very well. Very nice restaurant would go again
Excellent location for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner 👌🏾
We we're very disappointed with our dining experience at Mapas. The manager in charge come over to our table on a number of occasions and made numerous comments about the lack of alcohol on the table. The food itself was very disappointing it's more picture on a plate then taste and quality. Such a pity because we were looking forward to a nice family dinner.
Lovely way to end our vacation in Ireland. Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere.
Food was very tasty but the one and only complaint I had and had to send it back was my baked potato was frozen in the middle. I would understand if the restaurant was super busy but when I was there it was relatively quiet. The waitress did change it for me for champ which was delicious and very hot. She was very apologetic about the baked potato. I will definitely be back as menu is interesting and service is excellent
We had a lovely family meal and the food and service were very pleasant indeed.
We spent the weekend at the hotel and very much enjoyed Mapas - food quality and price really excellent
We had a fabulous night in the Mapas restaurant, everything from food to service was excellent, it was a great choice for a night out with friends, they’ve recently renovated the restaurant and introduced a new menu and every thing is presented beautifully. We can’t wait to go back.
The food and service were good. Unfortunately there was a large table directly behind us with at least 2 young children who either cried, screamed, or shouted most of the night. We were there at 7.30pm and left at 11pm. The noisy table were still there. If I was to recommend to a friend I would tell them to check if any kids booked in.
Fantastic service. Steak was amazing.Lovely place. Staff were so attentive and very good. Highly recommended.
There were bones in the fish (hake) which I felt should have been taken out before it was served.
We had booked a family meal out. Catered well for everyone including children. Reasonable prices
Excellent food and great service, will be back . The Duck was just yummy
We had a lovely dinner for our first night in Ireland for our honeymoon dinner. Our attendant was very attentive and offered us complimentary Prosecco as a congratulatory celebration of our honeymoon. My wife had the chicken breast and bragged at how wonderful it was. I had the roast duck and was thoroughly amazed at how good it was. I honestly can’t give this restaurant enough praise and highly recommend it to anyone spending time near Dalkey. I would recommend making the short drive from Dublin to have a nice dinner here.
Staff friendly but inefficient. Food was tasteless and expensive. Asked for filet medium but served well done. Dessert did not taste fresh or homemade. Won’t return
Service was extremely slow.
Lovely food and great service, very friendly staff.
Service was great and staff couldn’t have been nicer but I asked for a steak to be Medium and it was very over cooked with no pink in it.
We will try again but all down to the staff and not particularly the food, location and staff may bring us back.
Very good food
Service a little slow
But very friendly and nice waiters
We were delighted to get a table for 7.30p.m.at short notice on November 16th. We were given menus fairly promptly and our order was taken for food and wine. I didn't have a starter but my husbands starter arrived without delay. By the time his starter was finished our drinks had still not arrived. Our main course eventually was served at 20.20 and still no sign of our drinks. We had to remind the girl who had taken the drinks order, who finally delivered the drinks. At last the table was cleared @ 21.00 and we ordered desert and coffee. Desert arrived shortly after but no coffee. When this had not been served by 21.20 we decided to leave without it. The restaurant manager was most apologetic (we didn't complain she actually noticed that we hadn't been served) and she offered a discount which we accepted. However, the poor service left an impression and we will not be revisiting Mapas.
Called in on Sunday. As usual we were greeted by a very friendly waitress who interduced us to new menu and specials. Our meal was delicious I had steak and my partner had a Italian chicken dish very tasty We loved the new menu and will be back soon
Excellent service, ambience and food. Decor lovely too
Went to Mapas. Asked for the duck. Said they didn't have duck. Duck was posted on the Mapas menu in the elevator.
They don't have duck!!
Booked and confirmed table- unavailable
Food lacking taste and presentation
Chunky chips uncooked
Coffee undrinkable- bitter ( and has been for many years ) we got the classic and patronising response - “no one else complained”
Staff were very attentive. Very good service. Food was nicely presented. Will recommend to my friends.
Had a fantastic meal with my wife on Saturday night. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Great Place with outstanding service people who really care!
We were seated as soon as we arrived but were not presented with a menu until we asked for one 10 to 15 minutes after we were seated. It was only after complaining about the service that a server arrived at the table to ask if we would like a drink.
Excellent food and service , beautiful surroundings too
Food was fab. Service was a bit slow towards the end bur waitress explained that three trainees were left to cope on their own for part of the evening and she apologised. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Sirring beside a table of about 20 who were very noisy and made the start of the evening very uncomfortable. Otherwise great.
We complained that there was no Avocado in the Salad (as advertised) and we got no reaction from the server... she just said “Oh”
The chicken stew was tasteless but we did not complain as we thought we would get same “Oh”
That end of the room where we were seated( next to the bar) was very cold, it was only when exiting by main door that we realised how warm that part of the restaurant was.
Overall not a great experience
We went to Mapas on a taste.ie voucher.
But we were disappointed with the food.
My starter of Camembert was served on soggy white bread (not even toasted) and was cold. My husband enjoyed his muscles.
I went for the steak which was 8 Euro supplement. Not worth it !! Chips were over cooked and hard. My husbands duck was tough and lacked flavour. Tasted pre packed. Desert and coffee was probably the best course. Service was very good and all the staff ( probably too many asking us every 5 mins if we were enjoying our meal) were friendly and attentive. Great location. Lovely surroundings but would not go back based on the food. Glad we had a voucher !!
Outstanding service, delicious food!
We went for my son's confirmation and meal service was excellent
Went to MAPAS after the snow storm on Sat. Great steak & sea Food. Kids had their kids menu. All for 104E incl really nice live music. Great place. Combination of American Steakhouse and Irish pub ... I like!
The restaurant's decoration was very nice, staff was lovely but food was the most disgusting think we've eaten. We ordered the chicken AVOCADO salad, and had to return it because it tasted like if it just came out of the freezer. There were 2 dice of avocado and the chicken was hard to cut. We also had the soup, which was watery and the bread wasn't fresh. As a main course, we had the burger on the early bird menu. The patty was so dry, we had to dunk it in ketchup in order to be able to swallow it. The fries were cold, and the vegetables weren't fresh or crispy. We decided to leave before dessert as we were still hungry so decided to eat something else in a take away. Very high price for such disappointing food. Would 100% not recommend.
The food was good, service was prompt and professional as well as friendly. Nice warm atmosphere in the restaurant.
Excellent restaurant with creative cuisine and high quality food. Comprehensive wine menu and efficient yet friendly service and attention to detail. Very commendable for that special occasion. Prices reflected the quality and service
Overall we had a nice time in Mapas. It was a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Staff and service was pleasant and efficient. The food was average but nicely presented without a long wait.
The reason I have not rated The Grill @ The Dungeon was due to the fact that I was getting married there on the 2nd November and on the 31st Oct, my birthday, the hotel decided to shut the restaurant down and start renovating with no prior warning to me and the wedding party.
For the remainder of the week the 50 guests had to either go down into Dalkey to eat or remain in the hotel with a limited menu in PJ's.
My family and I have been going to the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, and the Grill in particular for a period of over 13 years and never have we been so shoddily treated. Dark spot of our pre-wedding celebrations will be there forever now.
