Good food excellent presentation and great service.
Met up with a friend for a girls catchup and had a beautiful meal and very friendly waiter looking after us. Excellent deal too with three courses and ‘bottomless prosecco’ but just be aware the bottomless bit only lasts for your first hour of dining. That wasn’t made very clear on the Opentable website when we booked. Even so, it didn’t stop us having a lovely evening and would definitely recommend the venue.
The meal was ordered and paid for Via Red Letter, Steak meal and a bottle of wine for 2. On arriving at Marco Pierre White, we were given a menu that referred to a Braised Beef course.. we had a 3 course meal which was Not very Good. Ref: Voucher THRSD-RED9900748. This meal was a Present from my Family.
I have dined here several times and find the whole experience excellent. Attentive staff, good food and excellent value with their special offer. Highly recommended
Nice steak but not amazing.
No one is restaurant , no atmosphere ordered Dover sole (on the bone) served almost cold and dry - not what you should expect nor at 100 a head!
Good food and ambience, polite staff. The starters took quite a bit of time to come so we had to rush the mains but otherwise good experience.
Lovely lunch - thanks!
A very enjoyable dinner for two including starters (escargot, scallops), main course (rib eye steak x2), and fine cheeses all accompanied by a Salantein Malbec. It was quiet when we dined but our lively waiter Donato provided excellent service.
Not having half the menu (virtually everything we wanted) did not help but the waiter was also the worst I've ever come across. To make matters even worse it was full of drunk bankers. If we hadn't been exhausted from a tough day we would left to find somewhere else.
I regret to say that my breakfast muffin was burnt, the friend egg miniscule and the bacon extremely dry, what a sorry affair. Very regrettable as love the location, the great service and the ambience, great for client meetings for which I have used this restaurant for many times in the past.
Donato our waiter made what could have been an ok evening into a memorable one. His friendly attention and gracious attitude made celebrating our anniversary a lot of fun. Thanks Donato & Luigi.
A great restaurant. Good wine list. Food superb. Yeah pricey, £60 per head. But good for business and even romance in the evenong when less busy. Not families though.
Perfect evening celebrating our girls catch up and birthday with great food and 5* service
Our waiter Donato provided us with the best service we have ever experienced
He was incredibly friendly and helpful with my 6 month old little boy.
We highly recommend and shall definitely be back
The Dover sole was the best I have ever eaten. The staff were great and what can I say about the trifle. Awesome!!!
A really great night out. Thank You
Food was good but not exceptional. Good value as my friend and I benefited from a special offer involving a free bottle of champagne. Service was friendly/quirky to be on the border of annoying. Overall I’m undecided and will likely give it another go in the next month or two to make my mind up.
Booked this for Friday dinner with 3 friends - from around Europe. Originally as a Brexit commiseration, decided to go ahead even thought our government didn’t.
Enjoyed everything we ordered from the menu, including Oysters, Dover sole, Steaks .... , all washed down with a couple of bottles of champagne (complimentary as it happened).
Service was attentive without being overbearing, all in all a good night out.
I went with my husband to celebrate his belated birthday. The staff were very attentive and the food was very good.
I was very disappointed with the whole experience - the food was average & pricey - there was no ambience or atmosphere as such.
The saving grace was egon the waiter very attentive and polite.
Great dishes in a beautiful setting, huge lobby with art on the walls.
Two of us had dinner with the OpenTable offer of a bottle of champagne. The restaurant is cavernous being an old banking hall, it was very quiet with only a handful of tables occupied so it lacked any atmosphere. Service was excellent, helpful, friendly with no long waits. Little odd that there is no where to hang coats so you end up putting them on a spare chair which does not look great. We had fresh oysters and the dover soles, not cheap at £48 each! They were however beautifully cooked.
It was a shame there were not more people to give the place a buzz. It is a far cry from the original Wheelers in Old Compton Street which was a fantastic fish restaurant.
Food very well prepared, very friendly staff, restaurant not crowded- great value overall
Absolutely excellent service from the attentive waiters. We had baked oysters followed by Dover sole a la grenobloise (for myself) and filet steak with prawns for my girlfriend, with a creme brûlée to share as a dessert. All of it was delicious. The ambience was not bad at all with some good light jazz playing and chill out music. The seats were very comfortable. It’s true that this place does not have the great atmosphere of say Sheekey in the West End (it feels a little bit sterile and corporate, unsurprisingly perhaps in the City), and it is fairly pricey, but it was still a great meal and a great night out. Recommended.
Asked for triple cut chips, received skinny fries. Waiter didn’t offer to exchange.
Dover sole said market price, waiter didn’t inform us of price and thought £52 was extortionate, realised after ordering that I should have asked what the price was, but if that’s the price as a waiter it would have been in my best interest to inform the guest of how much the fish was.
Ghastly food and expensive! The Dover sole was inedible with a rubber texture and badly cooked...probably not fresh! The other dishes were very poor, small and overpriced. Service was forgetful with drinks and spilled juices over my shirt while being served to my guest on my left without apology was disgraceful. What a dreadful experience!
Great decor and design. We arrived and the champagne was ready at the table. Service was good but not great. We had a wonderful waiter but we was a bit too busy as the restaurant was busy.
Food quality, gourmet pub food. Be careful with prices as the fish and the meat is price of the day and we ended up paying £48 for a piece of Dover
Excellent service, professional but unobtrusive. Pristine surroundings, relaxed ambience & very good food. An exceptional dining experience as one would expect of a Marco Pierre White establishment.
We were given a MPW voucher for Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed spending it during our trip to London. The food is excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and the restaurant (a former bank) is a stunning venue. We would certainly visit again.
No one to take coats at entrance, bar staff did reluctantly. Sat down at table. Disappointed as the deal I thought I was getting when booked via open table was not recorded nor recognised by staff who had no idea what offer was and said order off the menu. As it was a tad embarrassing in front of guest I ordered from, I guess, a woman bar tender a glass champagne each and a dozen oysters to start. After a wait the head waiter came over and took our order again, shortly in mid order the champagne came with 6 oysters, head waiter bit embarrassed too. Any how he sorted the other 6 oysters and we ordered mains. Very friendly service just a bit hap hazard. Food was good and my fish and chips excellently prepared ...think tempura cod, batter was perfect. Mushy or garden peas (frozen not fresh though). All was good if not inspiring, airy restaurant and not oppressive. Bill was much higher than planned - like 3 times - compared to the offer I thought I had so not so good VFM. However definitely will be back and maybe with pot luck have joined up service.
Fair price for a lunch in the heart of the City of London. Decent surroundings, ideal for a business lunch.
One of my favorite restaurants for business meetings in London
The food was great and arrived on time as we were in a hurry and the waiter was friendly and helpful however we booked this as there was a 50% off a la carte menu offer, which I chose on this app when I booked, and it was not applied and it was too embarrassing to ask in front of a client to amend the bill so we just had to pay it. Not good enough. I shouldn’t have to remind them to apply an offer and a restaurant of this quality should be discreet and professional enough to just do it.
I used a voucher but the the staff and manager could not have been more polite. They were very friendly and helpful. We had steak and chips and a bottle of red. The food was perfectly cooked and the wine was excellent. We will go again.
Excellent service, lovely food and the onion rings are something else a must try!
The offer on Open Table of 50% off food on the a la carte menu in January only applies to dinner according to the restaurant. I did not think this was clearly stated on Open Table as displayed on my phone, but was informed of this when I queried the bill after lunch today. Shame, because all else was good.
It was a very pleasant lunch, but there wasn't many vegetarian options and the restaurant felt cold. I also didn't like the mirrors on the wall.
This is an nice looking venue. The seating is very good and decor and surroundings were pleasant. The staff were attentive and professional. Unfortunately when we went two major items were not on the menu. No Dover Soul dishes or the Herb Chicken which is exactly what we went for. Deciding not to leave we still had the French Onion soup which was superb. My wife had the Chicken Pie which was great on the inside but the pastry was strange. I opted for the Mr Lamb Shepards pie which was very rich but excellent. All in all is was not as good an experience as Marcos Steakhouse , which is brilliant. The restaurant was very quiet maybe because its January!
The occasion was ruined because Opentable allowed to book a table for 16:30 when the restaurant didn't open until 17:30
This changed the whole evening. And affected our menu choice.
Added to which a supposed top London restaurants specialising in Dover Sole had run out of Dover Sole, and this was at the start of the evening! My second choice wasn't available either, so we settled for a very average third choice.
Situation retrieved a little by an adjustment to the bill without having to ask.
Generous servings, attentive staff and great food
Gnocchi drowned in Heavy cream, Taste of promised lobster missing. Seabass too dry. Turkey ok, sausages blah. Much too expensive for what it was. Friendly but obviously untrained staff. Champagne too warm
