Lovely decor but food wasn’t seasoned and the service was very slow. There are much better Italian options out there...
A bit disappointing, nice service, food nice but nothing crazy, very expensive for the final result.
Restaurant très très bruyant . Plats sans intérêt et trop salés , les prix sont trop chers du coup . Grosse déception
Delicious Italian food with fantastic and helpful staff that gave good wine-recommendations to the food. We loved the crab ravioli and the cheese and meats we had as a starter (not to forget the crisp bread that came with it)! Pre dinner drinks were also really good.
Beautiful food and excellent service
Lovely food, great service and a very relaxed feeling.
Amazing foodx -amazing service! All little touches made our evening! All staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.
We had the set pre theatre menu which was very enjoyable but the portion size was not over generous and really required extra vegetables with the main course. However on the whole the meal was good value.
Wonderful atmosphere and exceptional service from the whole team at Margot. Delicious pasta, perfect Pre-theatre experience
We loved Margot! An excellent addition to the West End dining scene. Italian food at its finest (outside of Italy). This will definitely be a regular visit and we can't wait to try the brunch another time.
Great for dinner with good friends that you’d like to actually like to hear (good atmosphere but not too noisy) Food was lovely.
Great food, and attentive service. A nice atmosphere, quiet enough to chat. Prices are high, especially for the drinks, but the pre-theatre menu makes it a more affordable option.
Wonderful experience. I will go back soon
Excellent service from all members of staff, always topping up our water and checking everything was okay. The crab ravioli and tuna steak were divine! Perfectly accompanied by a choice of bread, of which we had focaccia, flawless! Perfect place to dine pre or post theatre.
Amazing restaurant in terms of food as well as atmosphere, super nice staff!
Lovely restaurant and excellent service. Would have expected more outstanding food quality for the $$
Staff were welcoming and very helpful. There was always someone nearby should we have needed anything. Food was well presented and most of all, tasted amazing. Thank you for a lovely evening Margot.
We chose Margot’s as we were seeing a show that evening and it turned out to be a great choice. The food was delicious and varied, not your typical Italian fare and there was a great selection of drinks too. The venue itself is lovely and whilst the service was good, it was a little slow. We ended up only managing 2 courses in 2 hours (we had to leave to make our show on time) which was very disappointing; however the staff were very friendly and attentive otherwise.
Disappointing and expensive! they must have had an off night. Our experience did not match at all with prior food or service reviews. All the staff were lovely but clearly under pressure, there did not seem to be enough of them, service was slow and chaotic. Given the high cost the food was very disappointing and mostly tepid by the time it had arrived, one main course was sent back.. none of this was reflected in our final bill, the wine list is also very expensive… this was not in any way fine dining. Sadly we left feeling very disappointed and completely ripped off!
Love this place, the food is outstanding but it’s the ambience and service that make it extra special. It is relatively new but has the feel of a long established institution.
A perfect evening. Wonderful food, beautifully presented and served by the most attentive staff. Not the cheapest but worth every penny.
This was a party of four for a 50th birthday. The food was fantastic! Portion size was good for a higher end restuarnat and the food quality was excellent. They provided a nice touch at the end of the meal with some birthday cakes for the special guest! REally pleased with choosing this venue and would definitely return for another occasion in the future.
Despite the lovely name, Margot represents a kind of triumph of style (crisp linens, tuxedoed waiters, Covent Garden location ) over substance (merely adequate Italian food). At this price point there are a number of better alternatives around that deliver value on their bills, and do so without something of a stiff defensive attitude.
As noted in other reviews, Margot's seating is divided between an airy space above and a windowless basement below -- the latter isn't really acceptable, in my view: it would be worth clarifying this with the restaurant at the time of booking.
A good vibrant atmosphere and beautifully prepared food from a good value three course menu deal. The staff were very friendly and professional.
Everything about this dining experience from start to finish was 5 stars. The service and food were exceptional with a superb restaurant ambience
Had a wonderful time, and the service was impeccable. The food was fantastic. Yes it was pricey but worth it.
Very good cuisine with very good ingredients special the tartuf.
I have dined at Margots’s many times and never had a bad experience. It is wonderful to have a restaurant where you have table clothes and good old fashioned great service. Ambience is always good and the lack of hard surfaces (in so many “modern” eating places) means your conversation is not drowned out by reverberating noise. The use of round and semi circular tables just adds to the intimacy.
Value wise, you can certainly rack up a dinner bill if the desire takes you but if restrained, you can eat and drink well for a reasonable price.
I’ve been twice and loved it the first time around but left slightly disappointed the second. No continuity of service as we got different waiters, several of whom did not particularly care about us or our experience. Good risotto but way too much salt. Dessert was good but did not justify the 8.5 pounds I paid for it. My coffee came in so bitter I had to ask for another and even the second cup was undrinkable. I asked for a cup of tea but somehow that was over brewed and bitter too. So a mixed review but I might give it another go later.
Booked to eat early, pre theatre, and had definitely booked a great restaurant. Efficient and happy staff, great service and excellent food. We ordered from the main menu, and there was a good choice of dishes. Would definitely book again.
The food was excellent and the wine choice very good. Nice warm ambiance although as we went post-theatre at 10.15pm the service was beginning to wind down which resulted in our being served by a range of different waiters and some commis. And I was somewhat surprised when they had seemingly not heard of Beaumes de Venise muscat dessert wine.
One little sour note: the Maitre d'Hotel (co-owner I believe) who greeted us warmly on arrival became rather" disdainful" after I asked to have the post-theatre menu and lost all interest in us after that ! A bit of a mistake I feel because we did have £100 worth of good wine between 2 of us to accompany our potentially 'cheaper' choice of food !
We had a delicious carpaccio d'agnello and the faraona (guinea fowl) was very good if perhaps lacking a bit of seasoning.... The olive oil for dipping your bread or focaccia in was out of this world ! The staff were also most effective at finding us a taxi when we left around 11.30pm.
I would definitely return, despite the Maitre d'Hotel's unfortunate attitude, for the excellent food and wine and I will recommend it to my friends in London (I live in France).
Lovely food and impeccable service.
Me and my friend enjoyed the set menu for late lunch and we truly had a great experience! The setting is beautiful, the service is friendly and efficient and the food was delicious! Would return in a heartbeat! Thank you!
Good food, good service. Definitely worth a visit. Will return
Really expensive, very average food, I could have done better.... good business model though as they charge way above what you get!
I have been to Margot a few times and absolutely loved it - the environment, the food and drink and the service. This was the first time I was seated downstairs and the experience was unfortunately not as impressive. I perhaps should have checked where I was to be seated but I would suggest that the restaurant should contact diners and ensure that they had not objection to not being seated in the main dining room. The environment is not as conducive and I found the service was also not as reliable. The experience won't prevent me going back and/or recommending but I will certainly check where I am to be seated....
This restaurant was amazing!! Gorgeous food and amazing Staff!!! There was a lovely french waiter on trial, I hope he got the job he could not have been better!
The service was outstanding and the food extraordinary. Amazing experience!
Amazing place that I will keep recommending. The food is as good as ever. The service is great as ever and the restaurant is very cosy. Well done to Paulo and his team.
The food and the service was exceptional. It's not about taste at this point this place is an experience!
The least I can say is thank you!
