Specialising in “babushka cooking”, the menu is replete with Russian dishes and influences from the former Soviet countries of Georgia, Ukraine and also offers an extensive selection of salads and lighter dishes displaying a liberal use of fresh herbs. Its generous and exquisite selection of tea-time treats, cakes and infusions, meanwhile, is hard to resist, and available throughout the day.
With extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna transports each guest into the Russian home of a bygone era where shelves are adorned with matryoshka dolls, trinkets and tchotchke. Displaying true Russian tradition from top to toe, Mari Vanna is a rare find in London.
Initially opened in a private apartment in St Petersburg, Mari Vanna has sister restaurants in Moscow and New York.

Omg I can’t believe the place in central London like that exist first of all inside looked really dirty dusty chairs with holes in in carpet broken we been feeling like we can catch head lice there!! And food nothing special for the price is crazy!!! I was eating more delicius frozen dumplings then there for 17 pounds. Over all really disappointed with money spend in place like that even waiting stuff looked like they are after party! It’s just unbelievable dirty and dark place! Would never take kids there
I cate at 9:50 am, the restaurant itself is opened from 10. The hostess lady neither invited me inside to wait there, nor was polite.
Great service, fantastic authentic food, I would highly recommend this place.
Great celebration of Russian Old New Year! Excellent food , live music and service
Going to Mari Vanna was an amazing experience. The restaurant is quirky and its shabby chic Russian decor looks amazing. It was a true pleasure to be in such amazing surroundings and a real experience. Where it is let down is the level of quality of the food for the price. Some of the food we had was indeed very good - I can recommend the aubergine caviar - but some of it tasted distinctly average. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant, but be warned, you're not going for the food (possibly unless you're Russian and these dishes remind you of home), you're going for the ambience.
Food is overpriced for what you get. Lots of staff hovering around but not a great service. Cake was dry. Toilet facilities need a refresh and clean-up.
The most "true" Russian cuisine in London, Uk. Suggest to visit in order to try not only Russian cuisine but also try cozy babushka (grandma) ambiance. Very nice place to celebrate, date and just spend time with friends/beloved/family. Service is on the level, employees can explain you dishes.
excellent authentic russian experience. thoroughly enjoyed. reasonably priced.
Fabulous food, lovely dining room. Service was good. Prices are high, but it is Knightsbridge I suppose.
Lovely place, quite and perfect for any occasion. Would definitely comeback again. Prices are very reasonable, too. Beautiful interior.
Amazing food and great service
My favorite Russian restaurant! Better then in New York:)
Amazing food. The decor is beautiful, old fashioned Russian dolls, lace, chandeliers. Not cheap but worth every penny. Definitely going again.
Excellent meal as usual.
Delicious food and very good service. Experience to be repeated.
Great ambiance with amazing Christmas decoration in Russian Tsaric pleasant clutter! However the food was incredibly overpriced and a cheap imitation of Eastern European cuisine. The soups are really nice -still overpriced; £11.00!!- but anything else below average.. Especially their pierogi were from goodish to bad...
I would recommend just for the experience of the ambiance and the soups, but make sure that you are prepared to pay a fat bill...
Great atmosphere and décor and the food was delicious. The service was very good, very polite and unobtrusive. The honey cake is wonderful!!!
Service was almost indifferent - a pleasant change to being asked frequently about the meal.
The portions were generous and the ambience calming - a little old-fashioned like a favourite
All lovely. Front of house a bit sulky, but we were late but our attempts to warn on this had been unsuccessful as the phone is not answered.
I have eaten in Mari Vanna many times. This times we didn’t find it was value for money, food was good but not great.
I definitely recommend! The place is beautiful and detail oriented. The food is tasty, fine, everything is well balanced, well cooked and well presented.
On the drink side, I had one of the best cocktail I ever had (the one with vodka and strawberry sorbet) and good list of champagnes ( Veuve Cliquot and Ruinart among others).
It’s not noisy for a restaurant in London (except that we’ve be sitting next to a Christmas party table)
Service is ok, the only thing that need to be improved (sometimes difficult to catch their attention)
Super Russian food in great ambiance and lovely staff. I gave it 4 stars for the food only because I don’t like modern Russian blini which are like French crêpes and not at all like my now-gone babushka’s (granny) ones!
I Can ownestly say it was an amazing day with my family.I have two teenage daughters.,who half Russian and I always wanted to take them to the place where they can see the real Russian cuisine.Everything was just perfect! Even going to the toilet had story to tell with Small stories from my childhood.Amazing ! Definitely will bring my mum there for lunch.Thank you to the Team x
Great restaurant, nice food and amazing service! Well done to all staff!
Always a very good experience.
This was our 12th visit this year and we will certainly return with friends in 2019.
It is very special
Great ambience, good food but slightly slow service.
Came in with a friend, booked for two, ordered a number of starters to share and some other dishes also for sharing, food is good and menu well organised. We ordered glasses of wine twice and twice was served very late, not sure why.
Bill was rather high for what we ate.
Great food with a great setting, the only point to raise is that Vodka is expensive, otherwise great place
The food and the decoration were unbelievable good and so was the host at the reception but then the Putin-style waiters stepped in....
What a lovely place. Once you in you are in a different world. Unique. Cosy.
Amazing restaurant. Food was delicious and staff are truly wonderful. Thanks for the lovely service and amazing food.
Absolute gem in the heart of Knightsbridge. Delightful place, tasty food, attentive staff. The food is very pricey -- I've definitely had equally good food for half the price, however everything they do here, they do it well and there's nowhere else quite like it for atmosphere and decor. It's a must-visit if you like Russian food, and their home-distilled vodkas are worth trying!
Amazing authentic russian food that’s good value in a great location.
Having been to Russia a few times, the food was spot on. Hearty, tasty, well presented.
It was a busy Friday night so had to wait more than a little while for our orders to be taken but that’s ok, Apart from the fact we were on a strict 2hr for the table and got turned out before we had finished our bottle of wine at 845.
Not entirely sure the meal for two was worth £120+ either
Nice experience, but would try to find something better value next time.
Beautiful Russian restaurant with very traditional decoration. Vodka cocktails were also great as well as the food. Highly recommended.
I am Russian so mothers borsch nobody can beat ever. However, i really like the design. Pelmeni, vareniki and borsch were pretty good. If you are trying Russian cuisine at first time suggest you to try those. Napoleon was tasty.
Really great Russian restaurant - excellent decor and great food. Recommended.
This was my second time at Mari Vanna, and I would come back again. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fascinating. I really enjoy it every time. And my colleagues loved the food as well even though they were questioning my choice of restaurant before the dinner. They said the sour cream cake was to die for!
The tongue stew has way too much cheese and very little tongue. Apart from that, everything was lovely. They don't have a kids menu as such but the staff made excellent recommendations for our children.
