Specialising in “babushka cooking”, the menu is replete with Russian dishes and influences from the former Soviet countries of Georgia, Ukraine and also offers an extensive selection of salads and lighter dishes displaying a liberal use of fresh herbs. Its generous and exquisite selection of tea-time treats, cakes and infusions, meanwhile, is hard to resist, and available throughout the day.
With extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna transports each guest into the Russian home of a bygone era where shelves are adorned with matryoshka dolls, trinkets and tchotchke. Displaying true Russian tradition from top to toe, Mari Vanna is a rare find in London.
Initially opened in a private apartment in St Petersburg, Mari Vanna has sister restaurants in Moscow and New York.

Amazing authentic russian food that’s good value in a great location.
Having been to Russia a few times, the food was spot on. Hearty, tasty, well presented.
It was a busy Friday night so had to wait more than a little while for our orders to be taken but that’s ok, Apart from the fact we were on a strict 2hr for the table and got turned out before we had finished our bottle of wine at 845.
Not entirely sure the meal for two was worth £120+ either
Nice experience, but would try to find something better value next time.
Beautiful Russian restaurant with very traditional decoration. Vodka cocktails were also great as well as the food. Highly recommended.
I am Russian so mothers borsch nobody can beat ever. However, i really like the design. Pelmeni, vareniki and borsch were pretty good. If you are trying Russian cuisine at first time suggest you to try those. Napoleon was tasty.
Really great Russian restaurant - excellent decor and great food. Recommended.
This was my second time at Mari Vanna, and I would come back again. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fascinating. I really enjoy it every time. And my colleagues loved the food as well even though they were questioning my choice of restaurant before the dinner. They said the sour cream cake was to die for!
The tongue stew has way too much cheese and very little tongue. Apart from that, everything was lovely. They don't have a kids menu as such but the staff made excellent recommendations for our children.
It was a disappointing experience - very expensive for rather low quality of food which has nothing to do with the amazing food that is possible to have in Russia.
One of the best spots I've found in London. The restaurant is simply beautiful. The staff is very kind and the food awesome.
Usually the food is great, but this time literally every order was so bad. Sirniki tasted like rubber and pirojki were awful too. I’m not sure if the chef changed or what? First time I came across this issue!
Great food! Great service! Great ambience! Will definitely come back!
Authentic and tasty Russian cuisine served properly. Great for family / friends dinner or get together.
I am going to the MariVanna on regular basis, never had a problem neither with food nor service. I would recommend this place if you really want to try something new in London’s food market, or has an event to celebrate, and/or you just love russian food.
Authentic Russian food in a homely venue. Hearty starters and mains and fabulous desserts. Friendly service. We were there for an anniversary and it was a good cosy setting.
Amazing experience, delicious food, lovely and cozy place, absolutely recommended!!
I had no major issues with the restaurant - everything was fine. The food was tasty, service was fine and the restaurant itself is perfectly nice. But, for the price, you would want something more. I just really feel it isn't good enough to warrant the high prices. If you really, really want Russian food in London, then it might be a good choice, but the dishes are mostly relatively basic items.
I really love the ambient and decoration. Food was good, but the waiters weren’t too nice and friendly. So I would recomend it for the decoration and ambient experience... but the food was normal and service not good
I took my family there for the great food and nice ambiance. Service was average. There is not enough waiters n waitress . You have to wait for a long time to get their attention. So far so good . They should employ more staffs for the price they are charging and every table should be given full attention.
Something really unique in London! The interior is beautiful and romantic, taking you to a different dimension. The food is delicious, the prices very reasonable for Knightsbridge. It has a loud but also a more quiet part as well.
I had my birthday lunch here and I loved it!
My third time there. Great place. The only drawback I can say is that they were out of stock with some Menu options. Other than that everything was superb.
I will go again.
Went for a birthday. When the waiter came to take our order, it became increasingly clear that basically half the dishes on the menu were unavailable. We weren't told this up front and we'd already ordered wine, so it was too late for us to go elsewhere, even though NOBODY in our group was able to order what they wanted, and indeed for some of us we couldn't even get our 2nd or 3rd menu choices on the menu. We asked for a discount, were never told whether in fact we'd get one, then all we were given was a free shot of cherry alcohol each, nowhere near worth it for us and not at all a discount, and we were still charged the 12.5 service fee, which was completely unwarranted because the food took OVER AN HOUR to show up and it wasn't even the food we WANTED.
The most horrible restaurant experience I've had in years. Maybe ever.
Too expensive for what you get
Kitschy Russian babushka dacha style with traditional Russian food. Perfect for rainy, cold London
The black pepper vodka is exceptional... the cherry, not so much.
Gorgeous interior ! Delicious food! Lady waitresses were not very friendly or attentive ... but we had a great time so brushed it off. But London is spoiling us with great hospitality, outstanding service, so don’t think we will be coming back, there are thousands of restaurants where u really feel welcome ;)
Been to Mari Vanna many times over the years, hands down best Russian (rustic) food in town
Good food, nice and friendly staff, reasonably priced - we had our small wedding there and all enjoyed it very much.
Best Russian food ever and I’m marrying a Russian so must be good :)
Little bit different from the Moscow one, more “restaurant” than a “flat”, but very tasty and nice place!
As good as ever. I shall never tire of bringing friends here for a taste of Russia.
Excellent Georgian wine.
My second time eating at Mari Vanna in the last couple of months - I came with a friend in July and we just loved it. I took my mum for a treat and she loved it too. The food is so comforting and homely, with amazing flavours. All served with impeccable presentation in a quirky and interesting setting - I recommend a trip to the loo to check out the decor! The staff were absolutely lovely on both visits, singing happy birthday in Russian for my friend and being incredibly attentive. A unique experience, definitely worth a visit.
Interior- amazing, food - amazing, atmosphere- amazing. Definitely coming back!
Had a lovely evening
I like this place and food is definitely Micheline -star level. But also I like
to have breakfast with friends here as it quiet in the morning and breakfast is just wonderful
and hearty here.
interesting decor, and quite impressive. service could be much better. food is ok, but for its quality was overpriced. could be a fun visit though.
My Russian friends and I were feeling a little home-sick as well as we wanted our French friend to taste Russian cuisine. The menu was extensive and all the food was delicious, I would definitely recommend to anyone longing to try out or to remember Russian dishes. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of a grandma's country house and was impressed with the attention put in all the little details.
However, the service was very off and left us somehow confused after the dinner. The hostess wasn't friendly at all and later rushed us to finish as there was another reservation, yet, it was the food that took a while to come. The waitress seemed a little lost and grumpy, and (again) wasn't friendly at all. This would leave a weird vibe and sometimes even stop a conversation at our table. One might say it's Russians that aren't friendly etc., but it would never happen at a restaurant (especially of this level and price tag) in Russia. Given all that, the fact that the people there don't speak well Russian (in a sense of style and grammar, they are clearly native) is a very minor detail, but it just adds to the off-putting feeling when it all comes together.
Overall, I have a very mixed feelings and would definitely recommend it for the food, it was amazing, but you have to be ready for a cold off-putting vibe and slow service.
Food excellent, unique place, enjoyed our evening there and will definitely go back.
Poor service- the waiter made a mistake with an order and was ride enough to start arguing that the mistake was actually ours. No replacement offered. The food quality became quite average.
Excellent address in the neighbourhood, delicious food, great service and atmosphere, Mari Vanna never disappoints!
