About Mari Vanna
Situated in the heart of Knightsbridge, Mari Vanna, home of the mythical Russian matriarch, bids you a warm welcome to her London outpost for a home-cooked meal and a cosy retreat.
Specialising in “babushka cooking”, the menu is replete with Russian dishes and influences from the former Soviet countries of Georgia, Ukraine and also offers an extensive selection of salads and lighter dishes displaying a liberal use of fresh herbs. Its generous and exquisite selection of tea-time treats, cakes and infusions, meanwhile, is hard to resist, and available throughout the day.
With extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna transports each guest into the Russian home of a bygone era where shelves are adorned with matryoshka dolls, trinkets and tchotchke. Displaying true Russian tradition from top to toe, Mari Vanna is a rare find in London.
Initially opened in a private apartment in St Petersburg, Mari Vanna has sister restaurants in Moscow and New York.

Mari Vanna Ratings and Reviews
Wanted to go somewhere a bit different and quirky to the usual places me and my friends end up when we are together in London. I came across this restaurant on an app and from the pictures it seemed to fit the bill....and it did. The decor is wonderfully busy and quirky, and the food was just perfect and delicious, and a great choice. The service was just right, not too intrusive but there the second just before you needed them. All in all definitely recommended and will visit again.
A lovely find. Really delicious food served in very quaint surroundings.
We had the set menu and Georgian wine. Real Russian ambience .
Reminded me of my grandmother's cooking and house.
She left Moscow in 1917, 101 years ago!
We will be going back and recommending it to friends.
I love this place and cannot rave about it enough. It is quirky (check out the toilets, they are amazing) with delicious food and first class service. I took my husband for his birthday and requested a nice table. I also told them that my husband was learning Russian and would welcome the opportunity to practice. Well, the hostess and the waiters were superb and absolutely took my at my word. They only spoke to him in Russian and insisted that he spoke back (don't worry, their English is great too but that was saved for me!) Our waiter in particular was brilliant and clearly enjoyed the challenge he was throwing down to my husband. I cannot thank them enough for such a fab evening. The food was delicious and the restaurant's ambience is great, bubbly but relaxing. We will be back. X
Mari Vanna is well-know among many russian-speaking people leaving in london. Indeed, I believe it is one of the best russian restaurant in the city. It is nicely decorated and full of russian unique items that makes you feel like you are in Russia. The food is greeat! The staff is friendly and professional, all are fluent in russian and english. Defo recommend it !
Mari Vanna provides authentic Russian tasty food. It is always reassuring to spot so many Russian diners at Mari Vanna and I would encourage anybody curious to try Russian food to visit the restaurant. The food and the setting are fabulous. Just make sure to leave enough space to try a few different starters and a hearty main course. Dessert is also a must!
We went for the cosy, warm, quirky and cute atmosphere and I must say that we're not disappointed at all. I must admit that we didn't come for the Russian food at all as it didn't seem to be all appealing while reading about it on the menu card.
However we did want to give it a try and were not disappointed. It's very "homemade" food style, pickles and beetroot heavy. No trendy food to find here, but that's the whole point. It's supposed to feel as if you're in the living room of an old Russian family who shill knows how to cook original food from scratch.
It's so authentic there, that even on the restrooms they play old Russian folklore music (in the restaurant it was more of a trendy lounge house music).
I can highly recommend this place and I can imagine it to be unbelievably atmospheric around Easter season or the festive season.
