About Mari Vanna
Situated in the heart of Knightsbridge, Mari Vanna, home of the mythical Russian matriarch, bids you a warm welcome to her London outpost for a home-cooked meal and a cosy retreat.
Specialising in “babushka cooking”, the menu is replete with Russian dishes and influences from the former Soviet countries of Georgia, Ukraine and also offers an extensive selection of salads and lighter dishes displaying a liberal use of fresh herbs. Its generous and exquisite selection of tea-time treats, cakes and infusions, meanwhile, is hard to resist, and available throughout the day.
With extraordinary attention to detail, Mari Vanna transports each guest into the Russian home of a bygone era where shelves are adorned with matryoshka dolls, trinkets and tchotchke. Displaying true Russian tradition from top to toe, Mari Vanna is a rare find in London.
Initially opened in a private apartment in St Petersburg, Mari Vanna has sister restaurants in Moscow and New York.

Mari Vanna Ratings and Reviews
Mari Vanna is well-know among many russian-speaking people leaving in london. Indeed, I believe it is one of the best russian restaurant in the city. It is nicely decorated and full of russian unique items that makes you feel like you are in Russia. The food is greeat! The staff is friendly and professional, all are fluent in russian and english. Defo recommend it !
Mari Vanna provides authentic Russian tasty food. It is always reassuring to spot so many Russian diners at Mari Vanna and I would encourage anybody curious to try Russian food to visit the restaurant. The food and the setting are fabulous. Just make sure to leave enough space to try a few different starters and a hearty main course. Dessert is also a must!
We went for the cosy, warm, quirky and cute atmosphere and I must say that we're not disappointed at all. I must admit that we didn't come for the Russian food at all as it didn't seem to be all appealing while reading about it on the menu card.
However we did want to give it a try and were not disappointed. It's very "homemade" food style, pickles and beetroot heavy. No trendy food to find here, but that's the whole point. It's supposed to feel as if you're in the living room of an old Russian family who shill knows how to cook original food from scratch.
It's so authentic there, that even on the restrooms they play old Russian folklore music (in the restaurant it was more of a trendy lounge house music).
I can highly recommend this place and I can imagine it to be unbelievably atmospheric around Easter season or the festive season.
I never knew Russian food was so delicious. The restaurant's theme, detailed decoration, amazing set of menu and feeling of home cooked meal absolutely made me feel like I was in a different country. I will be definitely going back next time so that I can try other meals in their menu. I'm already looking forward!!
Best Russian restaurant in London. Authentic Russian atmosphere. Amazing _Russian_ food. Very polite and efficient staff. Inside you feel like you are in Moscow! If you need a russki fix - this is your spot.
Good for: dates, dinner, birthdays, drinks and casual eating.
As an Englishman with a charming Lithuanian lady speaking Russian it rounded of a complete day of sightseeing and surprises and was the perfect venue for the lady to interact with the whole occasion by reading and ordering the food in Russian.
I would say however that the projected cost on the web site of $26 - $50 per person was way way out and should be revised not that cost was an issue for the occasion.
Overall we were both pleased and very impressed and although it may be a while another visit in the future is definitely going to happen.
