We had the pleasure to have a 5 star afternoon tea! Extremely nice and kind staff, ready to help you and give you any suggestion you need. What else? A nice surprise for our special occasion!
Great afternoon tra
We went for a pre theatre dinner. I am glad that I chose before I arrived as the menu choices were so complicated. It's great if you love tea! The food was beautifully presented and tasted extraordinary. The service was great and very attentive. They made a special effort as it was also a birthday celebration.
Yet again Mariage Frere worked its magic. The place and its wonderful team of staff has the ability to transform my day and that of anyone I invite to join me there. The combination of beautiful calm surroundings, serene music, caring staff and utterly divine food helps shoulder unwind, cares slip away and perspective reveal itself once more. And that’s before you wallow in the wonderful tea. Highly highly recommended.
I had a wonderful time there. Service was wonderful, everyone was helpful and kind, and had a great knowledge of teas. I definitely recommend MARIAGE GRERES to my friends, and I am sure to be back!
Wonderful, light and chic
Staff was delightful, friendly, helpful and just right amount of involvement.
Sweet and savoury was good not great.
Nothing exceptional or better than their many competitors out there.
Price was comparable with other afternoon teas
The ambiance was friendly, interesting and different. We all had a brunch of one sort or another and they were all excellent and slightly unusual.
A lovely birthday meal at one of my favourite places! Wonderful to be able to treat myself in a special way that doesn’t involve alcohol!
A truly wonderful experience. We especially appreciated having the waiter guide us through the myriad teas and what would pair best with the food we ordered. Also, we took home some madelines and scones for breakfast the next day and they were incredible!
A great experience overall at Mariage Frères, who have beautifully replicated their Paris tea rooms. The service was friendly and informative, and the first floor front room delightful.
One complaint however:
My guest had the asparagus risotto, and when the dish arrived there were more peas than asparagus. And he HATES peas. So he consequently spent a good part of lunch sifting through and removing the peas from the dish. If there is a substantial ingredient such as these peas in a dish, it would be nice if they were listed on the menu.
Mariage Freres provided the most exquisite meal I've had in a long time, with fantastic combinations of ingredients including exotic teas. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just an amazing tea shop, as it looks from the street. There's a lovely restaurant upstairs where we had the perfect light and totally delicious dinner-- which left room for the amazing pastries. I'm sure the lunch and afternoon tea are equally impressive. If you want an extraordinary dining experience far removed from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, this is the place.
Will definitely visit again. The food is full of surprise ( we went for lunch and dessert ), tea, of course incredible. The environment is quiet and elegant, staffs are helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
