Everything about this place is wonderful! Great service, great value! Will be back
The entire experience was so lovely. I made a request for my friend’s birthday and our waiter pulled out all the stops to make it so special! The food was delicious as well! I had the Avo wrap which was just delicious! I would highly recommend!
Overall our experience was fantastic. The lady who served us was very kind, polite, and knowledgable. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the guy selling over the counter in the shop. He kept saying "I don't understand what you are trying to say" ?!!
And he made sure to call me back before exiting the shop and asking his colleague about a spoon measurement to prove a point of who is right!!! Which I could care less, in my opinion, that was a bad practice.
The Scone was stale, brought with butter rather than clotted cream!
The salmon terrine had no flavour , not fresh, seems to be taken out of freezer and defrosted.
I have been so many times to this place and always been impressed with the quality of food . Unfortunately I was quit disappointed this time.
Excellent venue for a quiet, romantic afternoon in a location that couldn't be more central. Delicious desserts and tea - we'll be back.
Lovely place with fantastic selection of amazing teas! Great customer service and polite, professional staff.
We visited here just for a casual afternoon tea. No doubt the food and dessert were great. They have more than 1000 types of tea to choose from. However, the only thing is portions were too small. As per the prices charged, more variety of sandwiches, scones etc should be provided. However I would still recommend it for the amazing variety of teas and great desserts.
Brunch was an absolute delight, every item carefully considered and delicious. The only issue is the lack of atmosphere because so few people seem to aware that there is a restaurant upstairs, they need to find better ways to market themselves. A proper UK website would help, being tagged on to the french site as an afterthought doesn’t work, it needs promoting as a restaurant in its own right if you want to grab customers attention.
A great experience!
Everything I had expected and so much more💕 can’t wait for my next visit ~
Lovely food in a great environment. Staff very knowledgeable about their teas and made good recommendations
The venue is amazing. The staff who speaks french is very kind. The menu is reduce for now but main courses worth it and the desert are divine. I highly recommend Mariage Freres for an afternoon tea.
Perfect setting, perfect service, perfect tea. Thank you
I had been looking forward to dinning here since winter and it did not live up to my expectations. The iced tea was watery, the food lacked flavour and the glassware was not suitable for dinning outside as not one but two of our glasses toppled over.
Amazing quality of food and service, in a unique environment - chic and beautifully calm - highly recommend for lunch or afternoon tea
Fantastic! Strongly recommend branch, best scramble ever!
Very nice and delicious. It was for my friend's birthday and we enjoyed the afternoon tea. He was worried it would be only finger sandwiches but we didn't have any. The décor is great and beautiful, colonial feel. The service was impeccable and the food to its finest.
We visited Mariage Freres for my birthday and had the Covent Garden Afternoon Tea. My boyfriend and I love their teas (especially Black Orchid) which is why we chose to go there.
Before I went I read some reviews and was a bit disheartened as there is a mixed opinion on the food and afternoon tea. But I was very happy with mine. The layout was quite traditional, with sandwiches and wraps on the bottom tier, scones and jam on the second and amazing cakes on the third. But all the food was infused with different teas and tasted (and looked) fantastic.
If you're looking for a very traditional English afternoon tea with cream and cucumber sandwiches this might not be for you, but if you love tea and want a twist on an old classic, then go for it.
In terms of the atmosphere, we were the only ones there for quite a while and enjoyed it that way as the surroundings are lovely. The staff were really nice too, and so knowledgeable on the different teas (there are literally hundreds).
Impeccable service. Very knowledgeable staff who know their tea! Beautiful setting, beautiful food. We had brunch which for the quality, quantity and experience was great value
A decent place for brunch, the dessert was really good and the tea was tasty, but overall nothing special. Service was very good. We were the only people in the restaurant so difficult to comment on atmosphere, but the place looks nice.
Great tea, but terrible food and service. Whatever you do, don't go there for afternoon tea, they don't know how to serve it, the food is terrible and there are no scones included.
Visiting Mariage Frères was like immersing yourself in a different times... decadent and opulent, without false pretense...simply exquisite
It is located in the centre of the city but the cafe is very quiet in a good way.
one of the staff there was inhospitable actually. all the women staff was so so nice but the guy made us uncomfortable several times. I was there with my guests and we wanted our tea time but it was quite noisy. it wasn't their fault. but still, it will remain a bad experience.
Thè delle 5pm: cibo di bassa qualità, prezzo spropositato rispetto a quanto offerto
Provided excellent service by the well presented and knowledgeable staff.
Went for afternoon tea to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and it really lived up to expectations; even a little birthday treat too!
Really worthwhile, you won’t find afternoon tea quite like this anywhere else
Very nice tea themed restaurant- decor very nice. Would recommend.
Went here for Valentines.
Everything was lovely, staff were great and the food was interesting and unique.
Nice ambience , nice service , giid food , my visit was on the Valentines day and we have tried the menu , everything was all right but I think the prawns with cherries sauce wasn't the best combinations. Very nice customers service . Recomend
Had a great Valentines dinner with very creative menu and generous gift!
The combination of the savoury part of the afternoon tea is so delicious. Every bite has a mouth watering flavour.
My favourite tea is the Marco Polo Bleu
Will definitely go back again
Went here for an afternoon tea. The tea is world class quality as always. We only had desserts and they were excellent. The service was great and the ambience as classy as one would expect from this company.
The food taste was special and also the dessert was absolutely nice! would like to visit again in the near future!
Afternoon tea is spectacular!
Exquisite, just absolutely exquisite
I had an afternoon tea and the food was delicious. Salmon tartare, juice & cake & toast & tea was £30. For the mains there wasn't a massive choice, about 5 items but the cake selection was ample. Atmosphere was very sophisticated, service prompt and courteous. The tea shop downstairs alone is worth a visit and the French manager is incredibly nice and helpful about the teas. Happy with my visit!
I had afternoon tea set with my friend. We stayed there from 12:30 to 15, and the set is normally served from 3pm to 6pm. Thankfully we could order it.
The set was served as two parts - savoury and sweet. The taste of the food was very good. Actually We expected scones and sandwiches, but they were not included. Also we thought the staff would have refill the empty tea bottles but it didn’t happen. It was such a shame.
We sat near the window. Inside the restaurant was very clean and bright. It was painted with white colour. The ambience was generally nice and cozy but the chair was a bit hard, there was no cushion on it. I’m sure some improvement will make it better.
We had a fantastic evening, the service was attentive yet discrete, the food was excellent and the ambience delightful.
The afternoon tea at Mariage Freres in Covent Garden, London was fabulous. One can choose any of a huge number of teas to drink. The food came in 2 courses, savory first, then sweet. All the food contained a bit of actual tea leaves carefully selected to enhance the flavor of the item. My friend found all the food over the top delicious. My palette is a little different, so I thought 97% was absolutely delicious. I'm guessing the cost was comparable to other high-end establishments, but certainly not outrageous, and the experience was totally worth it.
