Mastro's Steakhouse - DC
This is one of my favorite steakhouses in the DC metropolitan area. I always have great service. The food is seasoned well. The servers are very knowledgeable and always are kind and attentive. I hope they keep up the good service.
The experience was normal - not much different than any other premium steakhouse. The server Michael was excellent. He really made the experience. They initially attempted to seat us downstairs - that would have been terrible the ambience downstairs was very grim.
Placed downstairs where there was clearly a different
Waitress was terrible. A little impatient and seemee to worry about other tables. Would try again but the service needs to improve especially when spending over $500.
Worse experience ever, horrible management!
This was my second time visiting this particular Mastro’s in the last seven months. My wife and I usually order the 22oz bone-in ribeye. Again they did not disappoint. Our waiter was excellent. This time we also tried the warm butter cake which was really good.
Management picks and chooses who to address about dress code. Service was good, food is very delicious. Live music so it is very loud in the bar area and the dining room.
This was our first experience at Mastro’s. The servers were extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, which was evident from their food and wine suggestions. They helped me make my girlfriend’s birthday dinner a success.
You must try the bone in filet!!!
The service was good however the food left a lot to be desired. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium well however it had no seasoning, just tasted like plain beef. The macaroni and cheese tasted like stouffers, the brussel sprouts were burned and the mushrooms tasted like the skillet. The butter cake could’ve easily been from a package at 7-11. The pecan pie was good but how could you mess that up...it’s literally like three ingredients. And the price was a whopping $236.50; add gratuity and valet parking and we spent almost $300. Ruth’s Chris is still my favorite...great food, great service, reasonable price (roughly $200 for similar items). In addition, it seems that the dress code is subjectively enforced. A man sitting at the next table was wearing jeans and a polo style shirt with bleach stains. One of the female staff members (I assume a bartender) was wearing tiny shorts and a faux leather bustier top. She looked like she should’ve been working in a night club. Finally, it’s realy dark in the restaurant which made it hard to read the menu and navigate my way to the restroom. I won’t be back to Mastro’s.
It was great!
Food wasn't seasoned at all, burnt my brussel sprouts. Best thing was the wine and to top it off it was our ANNIVERSARY!
Amazing experience - always a go-to for a special occasion. The Sunday night musicians were FANTASTIC!!
The customer service was EXCELLENT! Our servers name was RICE and he was very helpful he even suggested a entree for me which was amazing. The restaurant was very crowded and it was very loud inside but my experience was still great. I would say the tables are too close together which is annoying. The food was cooked perfectly I had a 16oz NY strip ($60) topped with crab meat (additional $33), it was so tender and juicy didn’t even need steak sauce and the crab meat was jumbo and juicy. We ordered a mastro’s house salad which was $21 and big enough for 2 people (I didn’t eat much of it because it was drenched in dressing literally the bottom of the bowl had a puddle) it wasn’t my cup of tea just because of that reason but it was topped with 2 jumbo shrimp that were delicious next time I’ll get the dressing on the side. The oysters on a 1/2 shell were very fresh & cost $5 a piece. My fiancé ordered the 2 lobster tails. They were so big! Cooked perfectly! So juicy and tender. The twin lobster tails were $68. Another thing I really appreciated was the fact that you can add the valet to your bill ($12) so you don’t have to worry about scrambling for cash! We would definitely return.
Enjoyed a great dinner at the high top tables in bar and listened to jazz.
This is a good business meal restaurant for 3 or more people. Very noisy and there are no booths, so I wouldn't recommend it as a "date" restaurant because one of you will be seated on a bench next to your new best friend. Other than that, it was an excellent experience; service was outstanding, the steaks and lobster we had were equal to other restaurants in this class. I would highly recommend it for a business lunch experience.
They were out of the tomahawk and informed us an about 30 minutes after ordering. Then we learned our second choice was also unavailable after another 15 minutes. I reserved early in the night specifically to get the tomahawk and was let down twice. My brothers beer was also warm.
Food was great but service was lacking. I can’t afford to come here often, and was disappointed that my first two choice we’re not available. would have felt better if they gave a small break on the check but I didn’t expect it. Oh well. Not sure if I will go back next time I want to blow a bunch of cash on dinner.
This was our second visit in a few months - the service is impeccable. However this time the steaks were just okay. I ordered a filet medium rare (assures that it would be a warm red center) but it came out cooler and closer to rare. The sides were good. I appreciate that they do quite a bit of upselling but $14 for bacon on top of Brussel sprouts seems like a bit much when the dish is already 13$ and the steaks are pricey. Otherwise it was a good meal and the ambiance was lively but not too loud.
Excellent experience. Food was succulent. I would advise disclosure on full charge for fountain soda - my two kids refilled three times each, for a $40 soda tab.
The dining experience was great. They can use a little more seasoning on their sides. I plan to return.
Food was good. I prefer my steak (meats) with more flavor/seasonings/salt. Had Bone-in Ribeye, lobster mashed potatoes, broccoli, asparagus and Mac and cheese. The Dream Berry was EVERYTHING. So good.
What can you say? This is the creme de la creme of dining experiences. From the moment our exceptional waiter greeted us we knew we were in for a treat. His delightful personality and flawless execution set the tone for the entire evening. From bubbling cocktail creations to melt-in-your-mouth steaks, every detail was attended to and delivered with perfection. The ambiance was perfect for a business dinner with clients: You could hear the music from the live performers at the front of the restaurant, but it didn't interfere with our conversations. You'll pay dearly for an evening of this caliber, but if you're looking for an impressive and memorable evening it's absolutely worth it.
the service was decent , they had to adjust everything that was served. However, three out of four steaks were under or over cooked. it didn’t seem like it was the server got the order wrong but more that the order was given to him wrong to be served back to us. also we were charged for an extra steak which the server did promptly remove when notified, just could’ve been a problem if we didn’t notice first.
I eat at the Mastro’s in Chicago, this one was equally as outstanding. Always a great dining experience.
Food was in line with other competitors. Service of the hosts at checkin was below average and ambiance is more suited for team/group dinners.
Outstanding experience. Everything was prepared to perfection and the service was spot on.
If I wanted to sit at a table for 4 in the basement dining area I would have requested it. There were 2 of us
Mastro’s was such an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The ambience, customer service, outstanding menu choices, savory food, and lastly the music selection couldn’t have been any better. Mastro’s made our date night rewarding after a long work week. To put the cherry on top, our food taste even better after warming it up the next day (where does that happen) lol
This is my husbands favorite restaurant. Every time we go we experience another level of excellence not just from the food, but the staff as well. If you’re looking for a 360 quality restaurant then look no further, Mastro’s has you covered!
I love Mastro's for special occasions. Its a little pricey, imo, but there is no substitute for the level of service and attention to detail you receive at every turn.
Excellent place for a full formal dinner and same level of quality in the bar. We had an excellent pre Caps game dinner in the bar area. Our waitress was amazing and very knowledgeable.
Very noisy and very dark. There are not 2 wines from the menu.
Beef carpaccio, jalapeño tuna, and wagyu tomahawks is all you need
I came across Mastros years ago in Arizona which I truly loved so I looked forward to eating at the DC location very much. Honestly it was spectacular like I expected. Obviously I paid for the experience and food which were excellent but I just thought it was just slightly more expensive than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong no one twisted my arm the menu was very clear with your offerings and prices. With all that said, please keep up the good work and I look forward to my next experience!!
Only 2nd time here. Outstanding! Service was impeccable; food perfectly seasoned and appropriate temperature; wine recommendation was luscious and smooth.
They confirmed it was a birthday celebration when seating us. While the table next to us got a birthday candle and happy birthday written on their slice of cake, our crem brûlée had nothing on it. Since the host confirmed it was a birthday, I did not pull the waitress aside to ask for candles on the dessert we ordered. I normally don’t have to do that if I tell them ahead of time that it is a birthday celebration. On top of that, the sugar on the crem brûlée had not been torched enough, so there was mostly grains of sugar up top and not a layer of crystalized sugar.
Great service and attention to detail for a business meal. I would come again for business, however, lighting can be limiting for older guests. Food is very good, but overpriced.
Bday dinner. Fries were over cooked and lobster tails were cold.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 5th anniversary dinner at Mastros. From the time we sat down to the time we leafy everything was amazing. The service and food were great! We will definitely be back.
Thanks for a wonderful night.
