Matchbox - Pentagon City
We had a great server, lots of fresh, delicious food and a wonderful brunch experience for my son's birthday. Very pleased and would definitely go back!
Never disappoints and with a restaurant week menu for lunch...it’s a great value! Def recommend!
I've always liked Matchbox and the food remains good. It's pizza, though, so if you're looking for high-end food, this isn't the place. Service was exceptionally good.
Good food waiter was fabulous. Hostess was awful. Mean and condescending. Our reservations were for 6:30 she said well they say on my form 5:30. I showed her the text that opentable sent and she said well it isn’t right. But we can seat you. I was not happy
Brunch was delicious; service provided by Hector was amazing!
We have had dinner here twice and will not be returning. The food was lukewarm, just average and not necessarily what the menu depicted. We had to return an entrée which they had to recook because it was not like the description on the menu. One of the entrees was served way ahead of the others with one of our group almost finished with dinner before the rest of the entrees arrived. The waiter was just ok, and did not seem to understand some of the very basic requests we had. It was quite a disappointment!
Best pizza in town but LOUD and at busy times it is hard to get served. We had to wait 15 minutes after being seated to be served, after one of our party got up to find a server. Still, my favorite pizza.
We had an incredible wait to even see a server. It ruined the whole meal. Also, when the food came out it was mediocre at best. It was worse quality than a TGI Fridays.
Open table allowed me to get a table at 10:15 p.m.. The restaurant and kitchen closes at 10:30. The service and food was great.
Outstanding food drinks and service! Love this place and we will be back soon!
My sons first date
Unable to order from the happy hour menu during happy hour when seated in the upper level even though 2 weeks prior to this reservation, the happy hour menu was available when dining on the upper level.
Great service and food.
I enjoy my visits to Matchbox because of the food and atmosphere. It’s the go-to spot for one of my friends and I for our annual post-Christmas lunch. Service is on point. I tried the Beyond Burger and it was delicious! My only complaint is that they do not serve hot tea. Coffee but not tea. What’s that about?
I gave Matchbox a low rating for this visit only. Usually, their food is great and service is very friendly. They were having an off night this time, though. Extremely poor service and the food was only so-so. I'll come back, but hopefully they fix their service issues.
I was actually there with family for brunch. There was 8 of us and it was our first time doing brunch at Match Box. The food and the service was EXCELLENT. Our waitress was phenomenal and I wish I could remember her name. We are all looking forward to the next time.
We enjoy matchbox, the food is always fresh, hot and tasty.
Over the brunch box wasn’t bad some items in the menu were great others just meh
Everything was what I expected. However, I do wish the server had periodically checked in on us after our meals came out. We had to wait for 20-30 minutes after we were finished to ask for the check.
The place was packed (I prefer that) still we got a table after a short wait. Happy hour beers specially the IPA is excellent. Ordered two pizzas. The spicy one was the best. Only problem we had was that I took a while to get a second round of drinks.
Our waitress was amazing, friendly, helpful and personable. Great food-green salad w salmon-yum!
Food was amazing! Service was very slow. Very good overall.
We were disappointed in this restaurant. As longtime fans is the Matchbox chain, we always look forward to coming for a meal. But this time, the drinks we ordered were not “available” so we had to go to second choice, and then one of or entrees priced $16 was so skimpy it looked like a small appetizer! The manager came over and tried to make amends but we pointed out that we have had that exact dish at another Matchbox in the area and it was a great entree, delicious and more than enough to eat. This looked like a poor relation. So the standards are not being upheld and I have to say, we will likely not be back to a Matchbox. I think they’ve over expanded and hurt their brand. This one didn’t even have the cute vintage matchbooks enameled into each diner’s table!! That was a signature touch, and not present here. Too bad. I hope they can get back to their original quality.
Great unlimited brunch. The staff was very friendly and the Pentagon City location is nice!
Great service, nice ambience and the food is great!
Service was slow as there was an unusual long wait given the lunch time rush. There was no promptness on getting an order of sandwiches, salad, and a pizza to my table during my visit with coworkers at this location. My pizza was over cooked and underwhelming. Our waiter was pleasant, but don’t think you’ll get in and out if you’re on your lunch hour.
Always great food and great people.
They were out of straws, which they didn’t tell us until we asked for them. Food took a long time to come out, but we didn’t get anything complicated, three of us actually requested the exact same thing. The food, when it came, was messed up. Someone had asked for a vinegar based salad dressing since she was lactose intolerant. They brought the dressing on the side but the salad was still covered in ranch. Someone else had pickles on their burger when they requested no pickles. Three of us sat with empty glasses even though the waiter passed us several times. Finally he stopped to check on us and we had to point out or empty glasses to him. The restaurant was not especially busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff. The food is overpriced AND portions are small compared to other restaurants.
Waited for 45 mins for soup and salad before our food came out on a bit terribly busy evening. Server only checked on our food when I repeatedly prompted him. Terrible service. Will avoid this restaurant.
Very Awesome service! Very patient and food was great!
Food was Meh, definitely not worth the price. Onion strings on my burger were refrigerator cold. My wife had he crab soup, and was barely edible and very salty as well. Nice ambiance but other than that not worth it.
I’m pretty sure two of our servers were confused on who had our table . Waited about 45-60 min for our food . Slow service over all .
Wasn’t too impressed so I’ll consider other options in the future.
The food was cold the server was not good far cry from my first experience at your downtown DC location to put plain it was terrible.
Excellence service and food. We were tucked away in a quieter part of the restaurant which made it easier to talk. The server Kalvin and the manager were both very friendly and attentive. We got to take advantage of the happy hour menu which saved us some money. The small pizza and salad were perfect for 2 to share. The Meyer lemon cake was a great end to a relaxing meal.
Suprisingly poor service on recent visit. Has been much better at other times.
This place is fine, nothing special, and a bit overpriced. Servers were pleasant but seemed to lack training. Food kinda got slammed down, waiter seemed unfamiliar with wine list. Caesar dressing tasted like mayo. Our Open Table reservation wasn't acknowledged and I got a message afterwards that we were a no show.
Everything I've had has been great. But the winners in my book would definitely be the pizza and the cornbread. Mmm Mmm Good!
It was fantastic. It was a perfect brunch experience.
