I chose this place as I thought it was going to be a nice Casual pub dinner. We got there and not a pub at all but we’re seated in The restaurant and only had a 2 or 3 course option (that is not on their website when you go to book ). Fair enough, the four of us decided to stay enough though we were not very hungry. My sister and I ordered salmon one was thick and very overcooked and the other was only about 1cm and somehow raw, I like a rare salmon but this was inedible. We sent the raw one back and could only eat about half of the overcooked salmon then another salmon came out even more overcooked than the first one. When we said we did not this or another one as everyone else had finished eating, they refused to give us a refund and stated ‘the chef was happy with the way it was cooked’ even when we asked for the chef to come out and explain how that was possible? the very young supervisor said he had left and refused. The staff were all very young and nice enough, and it was not their fault to be put in a situation where apparently there was no manager and we were unhappy and the person responsible (chef)was not able to fix their mistake. We would not recommend this place as it way too overpriced for the quality of any of the meals we ate. With so many quality restaurants in the hunter this was a shame.
We enjoyed the food and we had breakfast each day of our stay. We were able to order food not necessarily what was in the menu
We only stayed for drinks, so there can be no comment about food.
After trying to book else where, this was the only spot available. No option to have mail course only, had to order 2 course. Prawns we ordered for entrée could smelled from across the table. Only tried one which left a bad taste.
When I sent it the dish back and questioned the freshness. the waiter advised they peel them.
One other table in the whole place. I would avoid this place at all cost.
only thing I enjoyed was the Ginger beer
Breakfast was good. Used our vouchers from staying at the resort.
This is my second time here and there were more food options the first time. The Food is very over priced. Not much to chose from.
Food was terrible worst pizzas I've ever had. Service not much better , such a hassle to ask for one topping not to be on the pizza. Then when the pizzas come out they were inedible, reminding me of a frozen pizza but worse as expectations were higher.
Drank our beers and left hungry basically. Strike off Matilda bay as a visit spot again in the Hunter.
Nice restaurant with helpful staff ;)!
Went there for dinner and breakfast!
The meal did not meet our expectations, especially when compared to other resorts/restaurants in the area.
Very limited dinner menu, only one vegetarian option which was not enjoyable at all. The lamb rump on the other hand was delicious. The prawn entree was very poor, 4 small tasteless prawns with 3 pea sized drops of “avocado mousse” and unpleasant tasting radish. We very much regretted having to pay $130 for the unpleasant experience. Would not recommend. Much better food and value at other Hunter Valley restaurants
Great food. But restaurant needs a decor update and a paint job
Individual menu not offered and choices were limited. Food and service were ok. Definitely overpriced for what you get.
The cold marshal, who greeted us, was very polite and cheerful. Service was a bit slow but things were busy. Food was excellent. Overall, an enjoyable experience, I shall return
Food was pretty good, beer and wine was great service was terrible. There was 7 of us and every time someone wanted another drink we had to either get the waiters attention or walk to the bar.
Loved every minute and the horse riding was added fun as well
I had both lunch and dinner here.
Lunch was average. Dinner was really nice - the restaurant area is quieter.
Having dined and stayed with you previously my only suggestion is to stop having a menu where customers are forced into ordering a minimum of two meals (entree/main or main/dessert). Often people just want to enjoy a main with a few drinks. We have only dined in the restaurant once on this occasion because if that. The mains were very tasty
Blake our waiter for the majority of the night was really friendly and helpful and provided excellent customer service! The food was amazing and overall a very pleasant experience.
Overpriced for the quality of food, would not recommend or return to this venue
This restaurant is the perfect place for your next dining experience
Overall very good but unfortunately the only options available were two or three courses - it was impossible to order just one course.
The service was wonderful sat new the window, I am gluten and they served all food exactly gluten free. The food was amazing.
We will eat there again soon
Service was great, food was lovely, order came to us quickly, new ordering system was fantastic. Will definitely go there again.
Really good customer service everyone is friendly and quick to take your orders/bring food and drinks.
Really disappointing choice for an anniversary. Particularly service.
Great, quick service.
Food was delicious!!!
The staff were very friendly and it had a lovely atmosphere!!
We booked a month ago so would have expected to have a decent table. We were put in the back corner of the old section with chairs that were dirty, no air-conditioning and drab decor. The wine/beer choices were disappointing on the group menus. To make it worse the pizza bases were not cooked properly. So overall no we didn't get value for money and no we will not be returning or recommending this place. It wasn't for us.
The service was friendly but poor, plates were not cleared for tables were seen to return their own plates and glasses to the bar. Mine sat on the table for 20-30 minutes.
Was not offered further drinks i had flag someone down to get a drink and it was not very busy. One waitress disappeared and was seen later with the barman updating the chalk board??
It seemed to me that there was a significant lack of experience amongst the staff, i don't think anyone was over 20YOA and hence there was not someone really seeing what was going on and reacting.
Sorry it was as poor as i can remember.
Also i thought the wine list was poor and it did not include an organic wine?
I'm 57 and have probable never complained like this more than twice in my life.
I think my expectations were significantly different from a place like this.
The accommodation was great as was the accommodation reception staff.
Lovely place to eat, sit and relax. Staff memebers are friendly and helpful. Wonderful views surrounding
Sorry to rate it low but it wasn't good at all. I expect for a resort and a 4star to be good.
Great atmosphere, yummy food! Would recommend dropping by!
Staff very friendly. The beer tasting was delicious and food as well.
Would definitely recommend
We had a table of 4 in the corner, was a nice atmosphere, staff were friendly and was just the right amount of spacing between entrees and main meals. Definitely be back
Food was yummy and great value. Lemon meringue cocktail was amazing. Will be back
Always a great place to go to when visiting the hunter valley.
Very nice food well priced for hunter valley just needs an update.
Food was nice, staff waiting on our table were very attentive. Could have been friendlier on arrival. The tasting paddle are great value, they come with free middie of choice.
We had one meal whilst staying at the Hunter Valley Resort and enjoyed the meal but overall, it was more expensive than we usually pay. Portions were fairly small but food fairly tasty.
Good food and service. Value was great compared to other restaurants.
Apart from the food, the best part was the service we received. Chris was efficient , helpful and friendly. Thank you Chris.
