Now known as the Matilda Bay Brewhouse Hunter Valley, only a glass wall separates you from the original brewhouse. My wife asked for two entres, one as an entres and one as a main meal. Out came three entrees.
After I watched my wife eat her "main meal" they can and asked how we liked our entrees, we repeated that one was supposed to be a main meal so he the asked me if i would like my main meal.
I said since I had just watched my wife eat her main I may as well make her watch me. I then also asked for a beer with my main meal.
My beer turned up when i had one or two mouthfuls of my main meal left.
We then waited for a dessert for over 20minutes, finally telling them we didn't want it any more.
Then when we tried to pay they hadn't input the meals into the register and had to ask us to confirm what we ate.
Whoever owns this place should think about hiring some adults to look after the the teens who they have hired to work there.

Dinner was the most expensive meal we have had in the last 4 weeks of traveling and it wasn’t very notable.
Service was from waiters that looked like they were out of high school. Very unattentive. They need more training.. Losing your money on possible drink orders as they are’nt there when you want to order. 2 options for the kids to eat. Fish and chips and calamari and chips. I hate the kids eating this food all the time when we go out for dinner, so I asked if we could do 3 course both my husband at $67 each, so we could order the kids some proper nourishing food and we got a no from the waiter. I asked if we could get a side salad so at least the kids would get something healthy but we had to ask a second time and a different waiter said it was possible. The kids calamari came out and it looked so cheap and nasty. Not fresh just frozen food cooked up. ( tiny ring calamari in a thick nasty crumbed batter) My main was the lamb and it was served very raw so asked for it to be sent back and cooked more. We both got entree and main but we can’t say it was worth the money. If we are paying $55 each for dinner we do expect a few boxes to be ticked. Yummy food that you can’t cook at home, attentive waiters and a great experience. We were very nervous about going back for breakfast but we were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast waiters. Girls especially were very attentive. Thank goodness we were recommended to go to the Huntlee Tavern for dinner for our last night in the Hunter. We had the most amazing yummy food. These guys know what they are doing. Well thought out balanced meals well under $55 each and so many options to choose from. Skip the the Matilda Bay Brewhouse for dinner even though it’s convenient it’s not worth your hard earned cash.

Set menu with 4 choices of each course. I only ordered 2 courses, entree and main. Entree’ being squid ink fettuccine with prawns. Only 2 little pieces of prawn, didn’t even resemble a whole prawn. Main was pork with sweet potato mash and asparagus which was a good choice.

The young lady who served us was in such a rush to put the plates down, she didn’t even ask whose was whose before throwing half the pizza of the plate onto the table. She picked it up and rushed off, only offering a new one as she ran off, not really giving us a chance to answer.

The service was terrible and the staff had clearly not been trained.
Eggs were undercooked so much so that the whites were runny.
The whole anime episode was very tired. Very disappointing.

Food was defiantly not worth the ambiance, food or service. I was very intrigued by the 3 meat pizza with mustard glaze, it sounded amazing, but it was tiny (and the base resembled that of a mission wrap) and it was overpowered with bbq sauce base. The salt and pepper squid was the only decent thing we ordered.

Service was very slow, we were explicitly told we were “forgotten about”. Food was below average for the price range, bland and overcooked. Lack of atmosphere. Came to the brewery hoping for a great pub meal, not a below average fine dining experience.

Booking a table did not really amount to much; upon arrival we were told to ‘find the person with a hi vis vest on’ to sort out our table, we are still yet to find this person. Asked another worker who told us roughly where our seat was by telling us a number and pointing, there were people already eating at our table who made a big mess before we got there. We had to clear the table after they left ourselves.

The ordering food and drink system is totally dysfunctional (I suggest management go and dine in similar style restaurants and take notes of how they run).

The pizza cost $23 and was the size of a bread plate with what tasted like a store bought base, cardboard..

food came out suspiciously quick - which suggests that they were pre made and heated up. Again, cardboard pizza base.

Were they flat out busy? Not at all.

Would I go back? Absolutely not. This ‘brew house’ does not do the Matilda Bay brand justice.

We were so pleasantly surprised with our Sunday night dinner here, service was attentive, super friendly and quirky. Staff were just great to deal with and have a bit of banter with, and the food was great! Very happy and will definitely come back next time in Hunter Valley.

Compared to other dining places in the Hunter Valley for the price, this falls short for dinner. The mains were ‘swimming’ in oil (salmon and the gnocchi dishes). I wouldn’t recommend for dinner, not sure about lunch etc.

POOR! Very disappointed. We had dinner here last Tuesday night and it was great, then two nights later on NYE the service was terrible, the food was undercooked and we got minimal response when we advised them of the poor service and undercooked food.

After our entrees were served, we still hadnt received our drinks. We asked for these again and had to reiterate our order as they didn't know what we had ordered. Mains came out and both our meals were undercooked, one so bad that the pork was still raw. When the waiter came to collect our plates which had the raw meat on them I advised him that it was raw and we were disappointed, his response was "that's ok" there was no apology.

We waited for about 40 mins and went to pay and we had to tell them we still had not received our desserts. A table next to us had not even been served yet and had been waiting for over half hour. We ate our dessert in the bar area and left after this. Very little was done to rectify our bad experience. We will not be returning.

I was there with 3 other guests. we all ordered the salmon. Mine was pink still on the inside and could barely eat it. Very disappointing. If I had known it was going to be cooked so terribly I would have asked it to be cooked a lot more. !!!

We ducked in here for lunch as we had mixed up another booking and it was great to get a spot. The venue itself has lots of space and is quite cool.
However unfortunately it was not the best experience.
The food was predominantly fried, too salty and otherwise tasteless - we had salt & pepper squid, barramundi, chicken and squid ink pasta. Those that ate the barramundi went home to a stomach ache.
The bar staff couldn’t recommend a sweet wine for my Aunty (I know that at a brew house an abundance of wine knowledge isn’t be necessary, but in a wine region you would expect some basic knowledge) and the wait staff weren’t very helpful or attentive.
Would not recommend this venue to anyone.

Worst experience. Poor quality food & overpriced. Was placed at incorrect table then half way through lunch asked to move. They then took our bottle of wine away without asking if we were still finishing it. No music outside. Few staff members rude.
I had been here before & gave it 3 stars. This time zero stars.

The Dining room theme & ambience doesn’t fit a brewery pub feel that it should. It’s like an old English house from the 70’s. They were trying to do more upscale service when people dressed for a ‘pub’ vibe...nothing matched up. The menu was limited & strange mix of food- the Chimichurri chicken was just capsicum strips from a jar with cooked chicken, zero sauces & flavors. Used the same capsicum strips on the Lamb rump main as well. None of it worth the bill, would not go back but do recommend a renovation of interior & menu.

Simple, standard breakfast. Eggs were overcooked but we asked for crispy bacon and it was lovely and crispy. We had food included in our accommodation so it was definitely worth breakfasting here.
