MATSYA signifies reincarnation, hence staying true to the name the team at Matysa went around India to find those hidden recipes and present it to London in a new avatar. At Matsya we are reincarnating secret, traditional Indian recipes which have been forgotten or lost from the entire subcontinent. This is a brand new concept in London and our aim is to take you on an Indian Culinary Journey with our menu, you can try dishes that you have never tried before from across India in the heart of Mayfair. Our vision dates back centuries, in Hindu mythology Matsya, the fish, represents the beginning of life and a fresh start, at Matsya you will enjoy an intimate fine dining experience while you get transported to different parts of India with our unique dishes.

Amazing food, friend
Excellent food only let down by the roadworks just outside the restaurant
Modern Indian food with a nice twist.
Lovely room upstairs to eat in. Attentive service.
Great value for quality food.
Would recommend it.
Excellent food and service.
I dined here in a group of eight. The food was very well prepared and very tasty, however the service was all over the place especially considering the restaurant wasn’t even full when we were there.
I would recommend eating here as it’s a very nice restaurant and we throughly enjoyed ourselves but for a pricey restaurant in Mayfair, the service should be much slicker.
We went as an extended family of Americans and English and all enjoyed our experience. Very professional but friendly staff and the food was fantastic, including the desserts. We even made friends with people at another table who were also lawyers and from America. A warm and cosy atmosphere.
Good plating, ambience and services. Okay food but nothing impressive.
Excellent hosts. Was a quiet place and not so busy .
The service from Sumita and her team (esp bhavik )was second to none . Was our anniversary and was a last min booking . I had to be seated downstairs and they were obliging with explaining the menu well with comfortable chairs... which is a must for me as a bad back .
Now I must say a word about the food . Chef Uttam came to meet us . The starters were finger lickingly good. The fish and the chicken was like eating in Delhi . That’s the highest praise I can give .... So lovely was their starters that we ended up staying for the mains ! Recommend bharwa baingan it’s tangy and yummy .
All the staff is happy and very obliging . We enjoyed .
Thanks again . Will definitely return !
A gem tucked away and not well known. We had the tasting menu - 2xVeg and 3xNon-Veg. Fantastic food - excellent flavours and mix. Friendly service with no pressure on timing.
We were the only customers after a couple finished. Food was excellent and service was top drawer.
They plan to redo the bar area to get more lively and should improve ambiance.
Excellent food in a lovely setting, with down to earth, unfussy service. Very enjoyable - we look forward to returning.
Great place for a nice dinner with friends. This place was quiet on a Friday evening suggesting that it is not as well known in the critics circuit. Food was quite nice - comparable to the top Indian restaurants. Less pretentious but great tastes...
Food was very mediocre for price.
Very expensive and tiny portions Nan and Tandoori Roti a third th e size of other restaurants
Familydinner, ("kids" 24 and 27...), very good food, presentation special but not to strange - we all found different dishes as our favorites.
Trio of Bombay Pani Puri - first time for us, fun, tasty - don't miss it
Coconut Shell Shrimps - daughters favorit, very spicy
Tiger Shrimp - not spicy but very tasty
LambChops - excellent!!!
No fancy entrance - but don't hesitate !
Good flavoursome food and excellent gluten free roti.
Excellent food and great vegetarian options. They care about your dining experience here and this made the whole evening even more enjoyable.
Sehr gutes, schmackhaftes essen. Fuer london sehr gutes preis / leistungsverhaeltnis. Der wein haette besser sein koennen. Gerne wieder.
Good ambience. Great food but portions are tiny....even the rice was served in a small dish..so pricey for the quantity..however the taste was excellent and service was great.
Small portions and too expensive for what you get.
Won’t be back.
We were treated as royalty and the food was delicious
We booked it very last min as I couldn’t find any availability . It didn’t disappoint us at all we had a good meal thr were few other parties having food but it was nice and quiet . Loved the taste of food will definitely go thr again .
The worst food we've ever eaten in London. The pictures of the restaurant decor online look grand and deserving of their Mayfair location however in reality it was a very different story and we felt like we were sitting in someone's living room. Pretty sure the poppadoms came out of a cheap crisp packet and the 'tikka potatoes' had definitely not been home made and had just come out of the freezer. The first time i've ever had inedible indian food.
Delicious Indian food and the ambiance was lovely.
had 6:30 reservation. when we arrived the downstairs was about 75% empty. they said our table was upstairs. i asked if we could sit downstairs. they said no. we were escorted to an empty room upstairs where we continued to eat in an empty room for the next hour when 10 minutes or so before we left another table of diners arrived. when we left i saw a number of tables still empty. I did NOT enjoy sitting in an empty room for an hour for a 110 pound dinner on a sat night.
They asked if we want sparkling or flat water. i chose flat. I don't know how it is London but in NYC they do not charge for flat water. here we were charged 8 pounds for flat water.
Great dinner, fantastic food, excellent service. The tasting menu is a good option to get a overview of the type of food. Cocktails also very good.
Food was amazing, service was attentive without being over bearing
Really good food. Well made and served without too much fuss BUT...
Service leaves something to be desired.
Waiters standing over diners left me very uncomfortable!
It is also APPALING etiquette to clear away a fellow diners plate whilst the rest are still eating ESPECIALLY after being told not to.
It is also NOT ok to charge £4.50 for a pot of tea made with a TEA BAG.
Would expect better from the Leela Group.
Turned out to be just a good local curry house rather than an experience dinner. As it was in Mayfair it was an expensive local. We were expecting something interesting and next level from the website.
Nice restaurant with excellent service. Food was good and well presented but maybe not as tasty as we would expected. But we would definitely go back and try some more dishes and add some extra spice to it
Good quality food but average /boarder line poor service.
The waiter did not know the menu well or options associated with it. We were told one thing by him and then his superior had to come (twice) to correct him. They also served different dishes to people.
Food quality was good and both veg and non-veg items were done well.
Great food and service. The staff was amazing too. Had a wonderful time
So nice to have good Indian food not the standard stuff.
Wonderful meal and very good attention from Mr Rattan, the maitre d' . The food was fantastic. Well done Matsya.
Have had special offers in the past that are often disappointing. This was completely the opposite. The food was amazing and the bottomless prosecco kept flowing. The portions were small however we left feeling satisfied.
Outstanding food! I had the Aloo Tikki for starters and the Lamb Bhuna- just delicious. Portions were just right, not too much. The service was friendly, once you get their attention - that’s the only downside - hard to get their attention when you need them. I will surely go back.
This newish restaurant is finding its feet but the main item, the food itself, is very good. It bills itself as a modern take on traditional Indian food and its reworking of classics and some unusual menu items (stuffed baby squid) are well done and throughly to be recommended. The service was friendly and attentive.
The food was excellent. Portions might appear smaller than you would expect from an Indian restaurant but the food is rich and flavoursome - you won’t eat it all. The nans were delicious - and I would recommend the blue cheese nan!
Food was excellent but the service was like something out of Faulty Towers.
The table staff didn’t know the drinks menu, brought the wrong wine even when the desired beverage was pointed out on the menu by one of the diners.
They also seemed to be hanging around our table in an over attentive way and ended up removing my partners plate before I had finished eating and removed the dish containing a small about of the lovely sauce from my dish before I had finished, without asking on both accounts.
To top it all we were charged for the wrong (very expensive) glass of wine instead of glass that had been requested.
Not impressed. And such a shame as the food was glorious!
Food was generally good, but they encourage over-ordering. The Kashmiri lamb however was tasteless and should be avoided. Some of the rice side dishes were over-priced.
