34 KING STREET ( LESS THAN 2 MINUTE WALK FROM OUR OLD LOCATION )
One of Covent Garden's most established restaurants, Maxwell's Bar & Grill first opened in London in the early 1970s and still remains a favourite amongst locals and tourists now visiting London’s West End. An all-American diner-style venue set across two floors of dining space, Maxwell's offers relaxed dining to enthusiastic theatre-goers, intimate groups of friends and families and larger parties celebrating special occasions. Our dedicated menus offer a variety of mouth-watering dishes, with something to suit all with popular dishes including signature Burgers, Fajitas, Wings, Baby Back Ribs and our famous Freakshakes! The downstairs bar Cocktail Baby serves up a cocktail list full of original takes on the classics.
Really welcoming, lovely food, fast service, Monday madness made it very good value for money
Went to Maxwell's for a birthday celebration with my husband. They made a fuss of me with balloons and then a surprise freakshake and sang happy birthday to me. Was really special. Food was amazing. We had nachos to start which were immense. Hubby had burger and I had Mac N Cheese which were both awesome. Really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and my birthday surprise. Can't wait to go back.
Good food and quick service, only downside was toilet had no running water as there was a problem with the taps.
Great food, great service and a great atmosphere made for a great evening
Great venue, fun atmosphere. Brilliant for kids - though the kids ribs are reasonably spicy so not great if your child doesn’t like hot flavour food. Chips are other worldly though.
I celebrated my birthday with 2 friends. The food was delicious and once finished I was presented with a milkshake with a sparkler and a song 'happy birthday'. The staff are fun and friendly. Cocktails are also delicious.
Fantastic service and gluten free menu. Very child friendly. Buzzing atmosphere.
The food came very fast, we only just finished our starter before the main was put in front of us...food also arrived barely warm which was surprising as I ordered sizzling fajitas....veg was crunchy, chicken dry and cold....very very disappointed. The only thing good about the experience was the very attentive waiter!
Great food and service in centre of London Daily Specials were of great value and desserts a speciality
Excellent Quick Service.
Great Lunch Offer and Kids Meals
Booked for 730
Arrived at 734
Told our table has been released
Man was very rude to us
Told we had to wait 45 minutes
Table booked at 5.30 & we arrived early and were shown directly to our table. Whole service seemed a bit rushed & after our mains we weren’t offered desserts etc and the bill appeared without asking. It was only 6pm & we were asked to leave the table. When I questioned it they did agree it was a mistake but no apology and to be honest didn’t feel welcome!
Absolutely fantastic lunch . Every time we’re in London we make a point of visiting Maxwells its absolutely fantastic . Our favourite place. Food and staff are 1st class
Fantastic visit to Maxwell’s for my boyfriends birthday- brilliant service from the waiters who sang happy birthday and provided dessert which was not expected at all! Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely return! Thank you!
We returned to Maxwells again for a ore theatre meal as we had enjoyed it so much last time. But what a disappointment this time turned out to be. Cocktails all tasted of pineapple juice. Mai tai with pineapple juice? Pornstar martini with pineapple juice? What about the passion fruit liquor? Food was served quickly. My partner had steak and chips, but waiter took his plate away, with most of the chips still on it, with out asking, whilst my daughter was still clearly eating her meal! We had in fact been dipping his chips in my guacamole. The waiter also took away my daughters 2 not finished cocktails, but by this point we couldn’t be bothered to argue. So disappointed with our experience there this time and we will not be returning
A really good evening. Maxwells is quite small which helps to give a cosy but buzzing ambience. Service was good and not rushed.
Great staff, lovely food good value. Fab cocktails
Food was great, we’ve been to Maxwell’s several times before, but this time the service was slow, we had to ask several times for the same things (drinks). At one point our waiter actually told us to slow down with our drinking because we would get too drunk. We’re both 39 years old, we don’t need lectures from our waiter, thanks. We also asked for the bar menu with the full cocktail and wine list, which never arrived, so instead we got the menu up on our phones. We then asked for a couple of shooters, the person we asked didn’t have a clue, even when we showed him on the phone. Our waiter then came over to ask what it was we had requested, he didn’t know what we were talking about either, so we had to show him on the phone as well (because we never received a drinks menu from the bar). We were then asked to vacate our table, even though there were several other tables free around us. This involved being pointed at from the bar, which made us feel very uncomfortable. The only good thing about being moved from the table to the bar, was the fact that we had seats reserved at the bar and two free cocktails. A bit of a disappointing experience this time unfortunately.
All staff from the front of house to bar staff do all they can to ensure a pleasant dining experience. The waiters know the menu well, and can offer good advice if needed. We love coming to Maxwells when we visit London, we are never disappointed!!
