The Original burger was really great and you couldn't beat the chocolate and hazelnut brownie!

Loved our meal, shame about the noise from the floor above, couldn’t hear each other talking, can not fault anything else.

Order x2 well done burger with no tomatoes, arrived with a tomato, took it back and returned swiftly without the tomatoes (luckily I’m not allergic) as it was the same burger. Both who ordered the burgers cut in to find the burgers pink, by this point as 2 had already received their main we did not want to wait for new burgers so cancelled this order and ate some fries! They did not charge us for the burgers and provided complimentary desserts, I ordered the cookie and ice cream which came out burned. The waiter done a very good job in helping us it was just unfortunate the kitchen couldn’t keep up, and let down the experience.

Good service and ambiance, but food was lukewarm and not as good as previous visits. Disappointing!!

The food was good, can't go too wrong with burgers and fries and there is a good selection on the menu to choose from.
Service was pleasant and staff are friendly and attentive, my only gripe is as always sticking on a service charge which is optional but it's included and I guess it's just a ploy restaurants use to deter you wanting to ask it to be removed. I feel it's unnecessary.
Maxwell's has recently changed location, I feel the move to the new premise has lost some of it's appeal, there was a good ambiance in the old building which seems to have been lost but hey it's early days and if the staff are nice and the food is good then there will always be customers!
Good selection of desserts too to round off the meal which I look forward to trying on my return!

Great new location: smart, open and airy space with lots of comfortable seating options. Service was fantastic, and the food and drinks amazing. Yet another faultless and flawless visit to Maxwell’s, but better still in their wonderful new home.

Restaurant was really warm (not sure if they have AC) if they do it wasn’t working. we was shown to our table which was right next to the till point. I would say there was 5/6 members of staff standing around this till for the duration of our meal. Made us feel like we was eating in a staff meeting (handover time i believe) As i started this review, it was too hot to enjoy our food, wish i had of listened to the wife and left before ordering. Food was okish but nothing to write home about. Would I recommend it to family and friends? Probably not. In all very very disappointing

We managed to time our booking well, qualifying for happy hour and the theatre menu. The food was so tasty and there's a really wide selection of cocktails. The staff were lovely and helpful and the atmosphere was good.

We are here on bank holiday Monday so had the Monday madness discounts. Would have been disappointed if we’d paid full price as food wasn’t that great. I had the burger which was supposed to be medium but it came out cremated and had to replace it , which was no problem with the waiter. The freak shakes are good but overpriced. Happy hour on cocktails were ok

We loved the old Maxwell's this was a poor substitute, food below average, not a lot effort put into it, cramped surroundings, table small, dark area and very noisy and we were unable to hear each other.

Food was nice, lively atmosphere despite being early evening. Would go again!

On my first visit to Maxwell's since they moved locations for my birthday meal was the worst service I've had in a long time. One of the waiters spilled a beer over myself, our food was brought out at different times even though we were asked if we wanted one starter as a main and all at the same time. The staff didn't know what they were doing, unorganised and sloppy we ended up calling the other waiter over to check if they were actually making our food after a long wait. When the food came the hot wing Wednesday deal arrived without both wing types and no chips. We had to yet again ask for them. Also when the bill came we were charged for a beer that was included in the Wednesday deal. So we had to sort that out too. I felt so awkward for the second waiter who swapped with the first one, he was so kind and understanding. Maxwell's has gone down hill and I won't be returning.

Our waiter was lovely. Immediately asked us if we was going to the theatre, which we was, and he would have our food to us ASAP so we could get there in time. He wasn’t kidding the food came so quick, also lovely as he was vegetarian as is my mum and was talking her through vege options!

Seriously gone down hill since it’s moved premices. Hopefully it’s jist teething problems but wasn’t a touch on when we last had a meal at maxwells at the old place. ‘Home of the freakshake’ - only two on offer. The one on the advert outside wasn’t one of them; and the 2 that we ordered were very bland. Messy put together burger. Really hope it sorts itself out or it’s safe to say we won’t be back again!

Lovely restaurant with brilliant customer service. However the tables are quite close together which makes it difficult when getting up as other diners have to move their table in order for you to pass which is annoying. Other than that I would highly recommend!!!

We were put at a table up stairs in the furthest away table possible crammed into a back dark corner. The food was ok but over priced, steak wasn't best quality for the price it was, however my partner ranked his steak in amongst the best he's ever had. Desserts were a bit of a miss. I had the Oreo ice cream sandwich which was vanilla ice cream coated in Oreo crumbs. An ice cream sandwich you should be able to pick up... this you couldn't. Again not really worth the price.

Loved the cocktails, especially as it was happy hour. Small portion of ribs as a starter option is good idea as the full rack as main meal is huge. The chicken fahitas were really nice. The desserts are really nice but I think a bit expensive. The waitress was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Good atmosphere.

We visited maxwells on Monday just gone to celebrate my sons 10th birthday. He ordered a burger and was asked how he would like it and as always he asked for it medium rare. The waiter took the order then returned to out table saying that the chef would not cook the burger medium rare for a child now we as a family don't like things over cooked and certainly didn't want a well done dry burger so my son asked for a streak instead- again medium rare so the waiter went off then returned again saying the chef would again not cook a steak medium rare!!! My family and I Eat out a lot and never ever have we been dictated by the chef on how we have our food. It really put a dampener on the meal after that. The service was good though and the rest of the food was nice.

Ridiculously loud music ruined the evening.
Used to be a regular customer at the old Maxwells’s but the new has changed my mind.
Service and food excellent but when you can’t hear your wife or the waitress taking your order , we ate quickly and left and doubt if we will return

Don’t like the new venue, it’s smaller and you feel squashed in compared to the last place on James street the place was too noisy with the location of the bar. That said the staff were perfect friendly helpful and offered great service couldn’t fault them, so probably wouldn’t go again sadly as visited previous location many times and recommended it

Much smaller venue than Where it was before, but nicely decorated. Our server was absolutely lovely, so friendly & helpful. The food tasted very nice, but value for money was pretty poor, although about standard for the area. The buckets used to serve the fries was so small it could have been used for mayo. Menu is also very limited nowadays. Maxwell’s has always been our go to venue when the girls get together, this time, whilst we had a great time, We were disappointed in the quantity on our plates.

We originally went for one of their offers wings Wednesdays where you are able to receive unlimited wings, a portion of chips and milkshake for £17.50. When we got there they had no wings left so we were waiting for 2 hours for a delivery to arrive. We were offered anything from the menu which would be on the house which was great. However we came for wings Wednesdays so was very disappointed and surprised they had no wings on one of their days that provide unlimited wings.

Went for date on Wednesday for the Wingsday offer. Heard about it online but never went myself. Drinks were nice. Customer Service was excellent. They ran out of wings and got us free drinks and nachos to share to hold us over until chicken wings came. They never did. Ordered hotdogs instead. They were okay. Nice place and would go again. Hopefully they have food I want on that occasion

It was fine, but not worth the hefty price tag. We made a reservation that specifically asked for a high chair but when we got there, no table was ready for us. Our food literally came within 5 minutes of ordering it, chips were cold and my burger (the piggy back) was dry. The cocktails came after our food which was really weird, we wanted to have a drink and a chat before our food was brought out but as it was obviously preprepared food and not made from scratch this didn’t happen.

Service was ok, but hated the £13 service charged whacked on, when the waitress was just mediocre and so we decided not to pay it.

Overall, wouldn’t go here again. Many places like Byron and GBK have nicer food and it’s far better value. Disappointed maxwells.
