    This is a stiff restaurant that is overpriced, but very good food. We were directed to a table for eight people, but were seated so far apart that we didn't get to talk to each other. We asked to change tables, which was arranged. We were seated by speakers from the DJ playing loud music, and it was impossible to talk without shouting at each other. The staff was nice and accommodating. But all in all.. expensive and noisy.

    We had our team Christmas dinner. Irina was our waiting staff. She was great. Perfect food, atmosphere and drinks. Spot on! We requested to change a table as we were seated on one of the tall tables (bar style). I personally liked them but some of the group members did not enjoy eating on them. our request was approved and we were moved on. No faults, we had great night xx

    The food was excellent but slow to come. Not a good thing when it's a small plate menu. The noise level was by your classifications "energetic," by my standards annoying loud and needlessly so. Nobody was dancing.

    Fantastic presentation and the food was top notch, as well as the cocktails. The wife enjoyed the frozen mojito. Kudos to the staff - very attentive but not intrusive. Sat next to some grumpy and snobby people on both sides, who were not friendly at all, including the jerk who didn’t even appreciate my wine recommendation after asking the server for a glass of Italian red. I traded him up to a +£20 glass of Italian wine from the less expensive glass the server offered him, lol.

    Booked 10:30pm table, only for the kitchen to close 20 minutes later on a Saturday night, very disappointed. Didn't have a chance to even look at the dessert menu, so had to rush my food.

    This is our second visit to the May Fair Kitchen and, unfortunately, not as good as the first experience. The food, as usual, was superb. We arrived very early and were very well received. Our complaint started with seeing nowhere to hang our coats and not being invited to relieve ourselves of them. Then the table service was not good, and we had to request our orders several times, during each course, with some of our party’s food not arriving simultaneously; this also meant that food was going unnecessarily cold. Also food was served to the wrong person with no embarrassment about such errors. We were also being urged to order food as the kitchen was closing. This confusion of ordering also applied to our drinks. I ordered a sambuca which arrived without coffee beans or a flame. When our last guest arrived, the waiter had to be prompted to give her some wine. When the waiter collecting the bill asked for feedback, I complained accordingly . This in some way could have been partly excused had the restaurant been full with few waiting staff, but it was nearly empty and the waiting staff was more than sufficient. All in all this led to a disappointing experience, which was a shame when the food and the ambience were excellent. For such a prestigious restaurant this was a poor show sadly.

    This is a beautiful location, the decor and ambience was lovely. It’s a shame that the staff take away from that, there is an air of pretentiousness and a lack of care or warmth. The service was ok, we felt that we couldn’t just relax and enjoy the meal without something being taken away. The food is tasty but lacking in size. I know it’s small plates, I guess the smallest plate was what they are referring to. I am undecided whether I would recommend to a friend, with improvements this could easily be one of my favourite places. However as it currently stands I would not return and have given similar reviews to friends who asked how my dinner was.

    Food was very good, service left a lot to be desired. The waitress was anxious to finish her shift. They knew next to nothing about the menu or the dishes and no interaction from the waiting staff. Overall quite rude.

    Wanted to find somewhere interesting and close to a tube to catch up with an old friend. Location was perfect. Service was attentive. Cocktails delicious but pricey so we had just the one each. Sharing plate concept but only 3 portions of food per plate. As most people in the restaurant (and there weren’t many) were couples, there is obviously a marketing opportunity that I was not appreciating. Food is very expensive for what it is but it is mostly very tasty. Ambience not great as it was mainly made up of quite loud music - and few people. Perhaps because it was a rainy Wednesday night. I would recommend but would have to caveat it with the expectation of a large bill.

    Amazing experience! I could eat everything on the menu, there is a wide range of options and each dish is packed with incredible flavours. The service by Felipe was perfect he explained each dish in detail and served everything at just the right time. Can’t wait to return.

    Our experience at Mayfair totally was a wonderful, delightful surprise. Our server Irina was absolutely amazing and lead us on adventure as she suggested different dishes to complement our visit. She obviously cares very much about each customer and shows her dedication through her kindness. Her assistant, LEY, was also excellent, constantly refilling our waters and making sure that we were well taken care of. The manager, Patrick was at our table and was obviously very concerned that our dinner and service was of the highest quality. We totally encourage anyone and everyone to visit May Fair Kitchen and enjoy an adventure in dining!

    Starters were great, then we got to the mains which were disappointing. We got the risotto which was too salty , chicken was a bit raw and lamb tasted like water, no flavour whatsoever. Our bill came up to nearly £250 which for that amount I’d expect the food to be top notch . Service was great , very polite and quick!

    Terrible service. Was unable to cater to children, gave child 2 and 4 juice filled to brim in high ball glass. Ordered afternoon tea and did not serve the tea! I had to ask twice if we could be served tea! Many different servers to our table who really didn't want to be there. No colouring offered when asked then I asked again for plain paper as my child had crayons and has to ask twice! On open table when we booked it said afternoon tea came with complimentary bellini and I asked if this was the case which they said would be fine and then they added it to the bill! When I questioned this and told them generally of the poor service they deducted the service charge and the bellinis off the bill but didn't offer anything else. Certainly didn't surprise and delight and this is a 5 start hotel?! I also put on my OpenTable booking that this was a special occasion, my husband's birthday but there was no mention of this let alone a small celebration plate. We usually go to Mandarin Oriental in knightsbridge but came here on this occasion as we had just visited Buckingham Palace, simply cannot compete and I would not return even though prices are cheaper. Terrible.

    Everything about our visit was brilliant from start to finish! Patrick, the manager, was extremely helpful and friendly, he was also very knowledgable when explaining items on the menu and his service was 5 star! There’s a live DJ playing on a Sat night and it made the atmosphere great. We will def return.

    A good idea to fuse Japanese and Italian styles but whoever designed the menu must have had a brain fuse? All of the main courses are presented in minimalist style but just as meat or fish without anything to accompany them. When you ask for anything as a side dish they don't have it. No salad, rice, vegetables or even pasta. One is forced to order a succession of focaccia as there is nothing else. When we asked the waiting staff suggested we order more main courses to bulk out the meal! I had 6 guests and we had already ordered over a dozen small plate starters including 2 pizzas (but smaller than a small pizza anywhere else). We ended up ordering a mass of bread to eat with steaks. The are lots of waiting staff, but more than half are not allowed to take orders. So many but so inattentive. We had to summon 4 before one of them admitted there was a separate vegetarian menu as the first three tried to insist my veggie guest could make a meal out of the only single salad and pasta options on the main menu! With wine and service you leave paying £100 a head and genuinely feeling hungry.

    Amazing restaurant, a must try in Mayfair area! New menu, with fresh and new flavours within London Japanese restaurants. Please try Yellowtail ribbon’s for a fresh and tangy flavour or the aubergine for a more warm and umami flavour. Irina, our waiter, was amazing and humorous. Definitely will be back and recommend to our friends!

    Went here with work colleagues on a Sunday night. Loud electronic music, mediocre service (came with attitude) with a lack of knowledge about the food or any options. Starters were very nice, but lacked a salad option to begin (we had the strawberries and cheese while one in our group had the edamame); rib eye was cooked to temperature, however the meat was average quality and had a strong taste of natural gas. On the plus side, great wine by the glass selection though we did not partake and we were able to book easily, sit quickly, dine and get out.
