First time at this restaurant. Overall the experience was great. There was some confusion with the server in the beginning causing us to have to sit and wait before being serviced
Amazing food. Great service! Friendly wait staff.
The server was very kind and attentive. The food was above average but nothing really set it apart. It seems just as advertised.
I had a special dinner planned with my sons for their spring break trip. I was able to get into the restaurant and can't say enough great things about the whole experience. The table spacing made us feel very comfortable and we had no Covid concerns.
Our server was so awesome. She went above and beyond to make sure we were well cared for and that the boys had a great experience.
The boys tried new foods that they never would have such as oysters. The quality of the food was excellent and enhanced the entire experience. Would HIGHLY recommend this location.
My husband birthday was amazing. He really felt special.
Great food, drinks and service. Our server was in training and I had no clue, as she was doing really well!
Great food and great service.
They messed up our reservation with a larger party, the food was nasty me and my cousin sent our salmon that was not fully cooked back. Only thing good was the drinks the bartender was phenomenal.
Food was phenomenal just a bit expensive as you'd expect
The service and attention to details was excellent
They had a great happy hour menu! Perfect for after work drinks.
The staff was all over the place, Our order was all mixed up. Doubt we will be eating here again.
The dinner at McCormick and Schmick's was a nightmare. We had a 7:15 reservation, arrived at that time, and were told "I'll mark you as here, but we'll be a few minutes before we can seat you."
We were seated 15 minutes later, and were greeted by Megan, our waitress, who told us that all orders needed to be taken up front due to Covid. No problem, and she came back around 10 minutes later to take our order. We placed our order at 7:47, as I had just happened to glance at my watch. Nothing special, an appetizer and three entrees that were straight off the regular menu.
About 5 minutes after we ordered, our appetizer appeared. As did a bottle of wine we ordered. So far so good.
at 8:30, 43 minutes later, Megan approached our table and said "what did you order?" She then went on to say "this is all my fault," which was never explained but I presume she forgot to enter our entire order. She then said "I'll give you a free dessert," to which we said we didn't want dessert, just what we had ordered. She said she would 'get it right in.'
at 8:50, 20 minutes after the re-order, still no food. No bread had ever been brought to our table, so a bus boy fetched us a basket.
Right then the manager (whose name I don't know), came to our table and apologized and said that she would comp our dinners but couldn't comp the wine. That seemed reasonable. Right after the manager left the table, Megan the waitress reappeared and we asked when we might expect dinner, which after all had been ordered over an hour ago. She said "I don't cook the food, and I have all these tables." With all due respect, that's not our problem as patrons.
The manager kept her cool in a pretty bad situation. The kitchen was running out of vegetables and desserts, and she hustled and tried to make it as good as she could.
Our hope is this is just an anomaly. But it ruined an otherwise special night with our daughter.
Food and ambiance was GREAT! Service was very slow for a Sunday night and the restaurant did not look that busy, but the hostess must have apologized 4 times for drinks coming out slow...appetizers coming out slow etc. We told her it was all good, we were in no hurry. The bread served before the meal was fabulous! It is very pricey but it is what you pay for great food in a great space in a great city!
With Chicago restaurant Week in full swing. I am really impressed by the way the staff handled complaining guests. And difficult situations. They really turn what could have been a poor experience into one that we will brag about.
Just fabulous food!!!
Great service and food, we would visit again for sure!
The staff needed to communicate better as a team. We were kelt waiting for drinks, water and bread. Service felt broken and not coordinated. Had to send my steak and friend’s fish back for being under-cooked and cold. Manager discounted our meals but damage was done. She was the only one who actually cares to ask us how we were doing. Numerous times the Bus boy and multiple waiters/waitresses just walked right by us without asking us if we needed anything. Brought out steak but didn’t ask if we needed any steak sauce. I could go on but there’s plenty here to work on
Great dinner.
So disappointed. Went here for a date night , ended up frustrated and walking out unsatisfied. Waited 35 min for our table after we made the reservation 3 days in advance. Terrible service all around. Will never be back .
Waiter seemed busy they weren’t that busy.
Our Anniversary was completely ruined! The server was horrible. The food was not cooked to the temperature requested. We waited 1hr to get food. If you would like to know more feel free to call me 314-517-2991
Service was ok but slow. We were seated as a vip table and still waited 10 mins for water that came in dirty glasses. We have been to this restaurant in a few other states much better experience as far as service but the food is always excellent.
Our waiter wasn’t very attentive to our needs. The food was not hot and it was nasty! Had no seasoning
Our food was absolutely divine! Unfortunately our waiter was not very kind, he didn’t check on us throughout the meal so we were unable to order additional drinks and food like we had planned. Had it not been for the service, it would’ve been a 10/10 night.
I would highly recommend the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon!
Totally pleased with the entire dining experience.
It was nice. Service was a little slow. Restaurant was not packed.
We travelled to Chicago as a family for a quick spring break get-a-way. I cannot say enough about the time we spent at the restaurant. We even had a nice conversation with the manager unexpectedly. Clean and well versed in covid protocols too. We were incredibly happy we chose this restaurant.
I felt terrible for the waitress upon arriving for lunch yesterday. She expressed that she was on her own as was the one cook in the kitchen. She also said that she had the option of contacting her manager but seemingly didn’t want to exercise that option and instead felt poor service was more appropriate. Not only were we getting poor service but the neighboring tables also were. I’m sure the pandemic hit them hard and I’m sure retaining talented staff, among other things has been the pits. I was absolutely willing to look past the fact that it was freezing in the restaurant and that I wasn’t given a steak knife to cut my steak but Megan explaining that she was used to this just seemed like the wrong answer for business coming in. Sounds like they have thrown the towel in.
Great food and comfortable atmosphere for family dinning by the river
M that’s why I usually dine there whenever I can.
Wonderful! Everything!
Tried this restaurant during St Patrick’s Day weekend. Therefore, super crowded and server had too many tables. He was also multi tasking as the Bartender. Food arrived after 30 minutes, and portions were way to small for the prices. Food was only mediocre. I ordered crab cakes which were bland. However, hubby did enjoy his aged Ribeye.
The food and atmosphere was great. Only thing is the waitress broke glass by where we were sitting and police had to be called due to an altercation with a customer who didnt want to pay which caused a scene.
Janet was our server! She was exceptional!
Awesome server. Amazing food. I had the bacon wrapped scallops with a whiskey mustard sauce that was delicious. First time trying oysters and our server was very knowledgeable on the food as well as the wine! I will visit again next time I’m in Chicago!
I have dined at this M&S multiple 4 times over the past 9 months and I have enjoyed my experience each and every time. The food and service was excellent each time.
Nice setting and food was good but small portioned. I would recommend for a last minute dinner date but the price is not worth it
The atmosphere was so peaceful ! Our ready was very gracious and attentive.
Great customer service. Waitress was very consistent, helpful, and friendly. Food arrived fast.
