Great service and very tasty foo and Covid 19 regulations adhered to 100%.
Great Saturday morning breakfast.
Full Covid-19 guidelines followed.. temperature taken on arrival... tables at suitable distance apart.
Food was delicious and the staff very accommodating and made this first outing after lockdown very enjoyable. Would highly recommend.
Went for drinks. Temp check on arrival. Well spaced and comfortable seats (old theatre stalls). Attentive staff, quick service. Alcohol hand spray (from secret herb garden) on table to use.
Would recommend for drinks, will be back!
Great service and really decent atmosphere inside, super nice finishings/ decor
Felt very safe, lots of measures in place to make everyone feel at ease during pandemic. Staff very friendly and helpful
Really nice exterior and interior. We loved the booth we were in with the high glass window, however, with it slightly overlooking the bins round the front we thought that spoilt it a little. Good service, good food but as students we thought it was a little over our budget to go there regularly.
From start to finish a great experience. Food good, drink good and waiter great.
The service was great. Good Covid precautions in place and the desserts are delicious.
They had a power cut and therefore there was no food, not their fault. However they could have sent a text informing us as they had done to confirm the booking and given us the option to cancel. They said it would probably be fixed so we had a drink and waited there was no further communication after ordering we had to ask them for an update but food looked unlikely.
We had a child and they put us at the high seats with the open fire on the table they would not change our table despite others being free or about to be vacated
Very disappointed with their response to the situation and lack of communication.
Great place, amazing experience. Will definitely come back
Really beautiful and stylish space. Cocktails were great. Food was good - short menu, very nice though unexceptional food. Service was excellent. Lots of families at 6.30. Would be more than happy to return.
Had a very nice lunch here the other day. Food was amazing and so was the service!
Ambiance was night for a quiet Monday with tables all full, everything was up to COVID safety standards and all the staff were helpful and polite. Drinks sometimes took little time but understandable considering the current circumstances. Will return!
Very impressed. Very slick service despite extra safety precautions. Felt safe and informed the whole time. Extra precautions didn’t impact ambience. Food great as normal and with 50% of with government scheme, was exceptional value.
I come regularly and am usually happy but was v disappointed in the fish pie . The sauce tasted like chicken gravy and there was only one type of white fish in it . Not what I was expecting and when I queried it nothing was done , no offer of another dish .
Great space outside and in. Good layout, with a mix of booths and leather sofas.
Only in for drinks but it was very welcoming and very good distancing measures in place. Very attentive staff and excellent cocktails!
Lovely food, decor and well priced.
Will definitely return.
Very good evening whit my wife and friend's service and food enjoy lots
Definitely I be back 5star too all personal
Really lovely food and setting. McLarens is a gorgeous space, even with new social distancing measures.
Well organised and feels safe.
Very enjoyable lunch. Felt very safe apart from table of 4 “ ladies” opposite us who insisted on having baby in pram near to our table- staff found it difficult to get past.
Good as always very good. Half pint of prawns and tacos to start with. Then mezzo salad, fish pie with mash and chicken club panini. Alas no room for dessert.
Apart from the pram service was a little slow. Mains arrived almost an hour after we were seated. Possibly due to the terrace being busy and not enough staff- all of whom were enthusiastic and polite.
We were greeted by a very friendly lady on arrival and shown to our table .The staff were excellent.
We were a bit disappointed in the food but it was perhaps the choice we made as did not expect the prawns to have the shell on.
The pie of the day was smoked ham and leek and was very salty and watery and needed a spoon rather than fork as contents of pie was more like a soup.
If we go back for a meal I will probably choose the hamburger or fish as they looked ok.
Good service and atmosphere. Nice waiter. Food was just ok and quite expensive.
Good food, tasty beer, good service. well worth a visit.
We had a very pleasent brunch at McLarens. The venue is beautiful and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We felt safe, everything seemed pristine and well organised. Will be back soon. :)
Service was fab, quick and very friendly. No issues at all will definitely be back soon.
Ladies Toilets were awful, waiting staff lacked experience, no attention to detail. Average
Staff were lovely. Could use some clarity on the website when booking the garden terrace as myself and another diner both had the same issue and found we were actually seated inside. The pub smells lovely though and it was really nice to have spraying antibacterial at the tables! As we were only in for some drinks it could have benefitted from some “nibbles” or less fussy starters such as some bread and dipping oil etc. But I will definitely be back as the staff were some of the nicest I’ve came across in Edinburgh!
Lovely service and food. Nice atmosphere. Great value kids menu too.
Great lunch with my mum and Auntie Linda. Took a wee while to order the food but when the server came over he was very helpful. When the food came it was delicious, my auntie had the lobster roll, my mum had the fish and chips and I had the club sandwich all really tasty. I ordered 2 virgin mojitos which were not on the menu and they were amazing. Was abit noisy to start with outside as think they were doing some work round the side of the building but then it quietened down, and the ambience was great as the tables around us filled with people socially distanced. The hand sanitiser on the table for us to use was a lovely touch, and my auntie loved the smell of it lavender and thyme. Will return again very soon! Loved it!
Great service, lovely atmosphere and beautiful setting!
First eating out experience since lockdown. Food and service were both excellent and all safety measures were in place. Felt welcomed, safe and comfortable. Thank you.
No Vegan Food on the menu. This is ridiculous in 2020. Just means myself friends and family cannot eat at this place and therefore wouldn’t recommend. Owners and Managers hopefully will look at this. I’ve just booked for the Ivy and the Dome, both of which have nice Vegan menus.
The burger with two patties was better than the previous before lockdown. Good toasted bun that was an ordinary bun. I do not like Brioche...its too sweet. Well done
My friend said the chicken and leek pie was good also
I can not fault the staff or atmosphere at Mclarens. We were greatly warmly and given a choice of any indoor or outdoor table. Our temperatures were checked and all staff were wearing masks. The food was lovely and service was good.
Great place to drink but I’d avoid the eating. Service took forever. Would recommend for drinks.
We arrived and were told by the waiter to get out of the way.
We were then shown to our table. The waiter was again pretty rude about the QR code menu system. It was raining. We asked if the we could have the heater on? Nothing happened. We looked at the menu, nothing healthy. So we decided to leave. Not sure why this place is so popular?
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that your experience wasn't up to our usual standard. Please can you let us know your contact number via email@example.com so we can call you to discuss this further? We really would like more details to allow us to look into what happened here.
Really relaxed meal. The staff were all very welcoming and explained the new rules on arrival. The food was very tasty, as ever, and we had a lovely family meal.
Had a lovely meal. Felt a bit cut off in our wee booth as we could have been anywhere. Missed the ambience of the restaurant this way!! Know this is the only way to be at the moment however
Lovely atmosphere given current situation - staff were very attentive, food and drink were high quality. Overall a great evening
