   Food was fine, staff friendly and helpful but to be honest the thumping music in the background spoiled the whole experience. We were moved at our request having initially been given a table below a speaker but it remained difficult to have a conversation.

   I have been to McClarens on two occasions rently and have really enjoyed it. The surroundings are lovely and toilets clean. I love the fact I can use the complementary toiletries to fix my hair! The menu has changed recently and the food is fantastic. One time I was in the neighbouring table had Philly cheese steaks and they looked and smelled divine so I chose that yesterday and whilst it was nice it didn’t look as good as it had on the other guests table and so this is why I have given the food a 4 and not a 5. The entire experience is let down by the poor service. The other time I was in was a Saturday afternoon and busy so I accepted that the service would be a little slower but we waited 30 minutes to order a desert and then someone said they would send someone over and we waited another 15 minutes. Yesterday it was quite quiet but still the service wasn’t great, our origins waitress could be described as inattentive. We managed to ask someone else for help who was fab and was working hard. It’s such a shame because everything else is soo good!

Disappointing, however to read that you weren't blown away by the philly cheesesteak or the service you received, as you mentioned, it has been very busy, with the festival, and staffing crisis there is rarely a moment where staff are not multi tasking or working under pressure, however we always look to exceed expectations and offers.

    We all had a starter with ha portion of chips each and it was more than enough. We had a bottle of rose which had no flavour really and was disappointing- not their fault.

    Great neighborhood eatery. Outstanding meal, friendly and knowledgeable staff. A local favorite away from the touristy glitz. A little energetic but not so noisy that you could still have a good conversation. If we were staying another day in Edinburgh we would come back.

    Service tonight was awful - friendly enough but just not enough of it. It took 30 mins after sitting down to get a drink and order food. It was a total of 1hr 20 mins to get food delivered to us. We watched families arrive and leave after 40 mins having failed to get any service. Mclaren’s needs an extra outside waiter/waitress during the summer months. We are fans of McLarens but last night was not up to scratch at all.

    Unfortunately our experience at McLarens was poor. After ordering drinks they took at least ten minutes to arrive. Our friends arrived and also ordered drinks and finally had to approach a waitress and ask her to serve the drinks which were sitting on the bar. The place was not busy. Also I thought the drinks were very expensive- a gin and tonic, a pint of beer and two large glasses of wine for £38.50!!

    Lovely menu and decent portions. Pie of the day was great accompanied by fresh veg. Trio of sliders was tasty too. The haggis chips with peppercorn sauce is a must!

    The food was very disappointing. There was no indication of unwanted strong, hot spice in quinoa salad and the deep fried haddock had undercooked centre. Nobody went away thinking it had been an enjoyable meal.

    This was my first time at McLarens and it did not disappoint. We had a fantastic waiter who provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a family emergency, but the half portion of the main course which I had was lovely! Can't wait to return.

    We got off to a bad start last night. Staff training we were assured was just about to finish was still going after we had been at our table 15 mins. They were right next to us about 15 people and the man presenting the training was so loud, we could not chat or concentrate and even make a decision about our order. It was so distracting! My dad, after 15 mins got up and complained and the trainer was rude to him. This was completely out of order and not the experience and service we normally receive at McLarens. But what was the floor manager thinking letting this continue in front of customers for so long, completely unacceptable customer service.

    Meal was lovely and the service was wonderful. We enjoyed the evening but the only fault was the chairs. We were at a table next to the window which was fine but the cinema style chairs were so uncomfortable and set back from the actual table so I felt that I was sitting forward the whole night to reach my meal The booths looked much more comfortable but overall we had a lovely evening

    My steak was inedible and had to be sent back which was changed without problem. For £28 didn’t expect frozen chips.None of the starters were to our liking. Wine was good
