Very disappointed Uneven service Waiter never checked on us. entree brought out for one diner while others just given appetizers pork way overdone and dry. Medium rare steak raw in middle. Risotto not good. Shrimp tough. Beer warm.
Beet salad very good. Not offered dessert or coffee.
It was great! The food was wonderful and the staff were professional, friendly and courteous
I've found that service is slow and their excuse is usually "We have a big party going on that is taking up the kitchen's time".
Staff tried very hard to be accomodating but was not knowledgeable about the menu.
Seafood (calamari) was chewy. Crabcakes tasted raw.
The acoustics inside the large dining room tend to make the noise level very high and it is hard to hear.
The dining room, porch and area are beautiful and the restaurant could be made into something much better than it is.
Excellent food and very nice server.
I frequently go yo the boathouse, but this was the worst experience I have ever had. The serve did not approach iur table for over 20mins, despite walking past several times. My order was wrong, it took too long to bring a glass of wine over and when the food was delivered it took an additional 10 mins, and I had to call her first her to check on our table and I had to ask for silverware and ketchup. She walked away and before bringing the silverware or the ketchup went inside the redturant and came back out hoping to the table next to ours and then had to ho back inside to get the missing silverware and ketchup. On top of all that once I tasted my food it was not prepared as I had requested and when she came by again 20mins later, I told her and said I was not sending it back due to the time it would take and despite leaving most of my fish and only testing the salad, she find NOTHING to address the situation.
Great food and service. Nice lake views!
Good- steak is not the thing to order at McLoons. Seafood is the best bet
Sitting outside was lovely.
Waitress got directions confused, long wait for service and food was not great, especially the corn bisque. Had no taste or consistency. It was my 75 year old cousin’s first outing since the pandemic. He at least enjoyed the salmon.
This is my second trip to McLoone's; the first time was with an alumni group with Berkeley College.
The only thing I would've liked were more menu options, as the options for lunch were limited. Otherwise, it was a great experience for myself and my family after coming from the Turtle Back Zoo.
Everything was amazing!!
I am a regular at the Boathouse, always an excellent meal. Our service this time was particularly good. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us great suggestions.
The food was amazing! Great music, fun atmosphere: Best Hamburger I have ever had in my life! Crab cakes were fabulous. Everything was delicious! Big shout out to our fun, personable and energetic server Carly, who made our night even better! Very attentive and made sure everything was made safe and perfect. I have many food allergies, and she made sure everything came out to me and everything my boyfriend was eating was safe for me to be around. We will come back again and again. We will make sure we have Carly as a server!! She is a huge asset to your establishment!! We just absolutely fell in love with her!! Can’t wait to come
back and eat that hamburger again!!
A beautiful setting with good service and OK food. On the expensive side but not unreasonably so. Only complaint is that it was SO LOUD that it was next to impossible to hold a conversation at our table of six at lunchtime.
Celebration my kids coming back from camp
The place is beautiful. The food was really bad. for example they served french fries that were refried. YUK!
the mocktail was really good - blueberry.
Mcloone’s Boat house is lovely and the service is very good. BUT the food is very overpriced. We ordered the seafood roll which did not meet its description. It was barely had any seafood. The desserts looked heavenly; we ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake was fair and came with inferior tasting ice cream. Maybe, I should have had a burger but since the restaurant looked so nice I expected better food. I guess you can’t tell a book by its cover.
Terrific setting in outdoor seating area- good variety on the menu. Attentive service.
Let me start off by saying that I work in the industry and I understand how understaffed restaurants are currently. This review is NOT a bashing of the front of house staff, it is a question for management. We had a 715pm reservation and were seated promptly. A lovely young man brought us water, bread and pesto within 5 mins. Flash forward to 745pm (yes we waited 30 mins and no one greeted our table) to us going to the host stand to see if they could send someone over to take our order. She was FABULOUS and she came over right away and took our order. Our server finally showed up super apologetic. We could tell that he was extremely busy. By now it's 815, our foods has come out, but we are still waiting for our 3 glasses of wine that we ordered at 745pm. Our server came over and asked us again what the wine was that we ordered. This comes down to training and management. There is ZERO excuse for your serving staff to not at least know the names of the wines by the glass that you serve. This is serving 101. Again, if your staff is super green, you must as management take up the task of preparing your staff for success. We always tip 20%, because we all work in the industry and have all had shifts where you felt like you were under water. But here is the deal: If your staff is not a seasoned as you would like them to be, YOU MUST AS A MANAGER HAVE A HUGE PRESENCE ON THE FLOOR. I didn't see one person walking around the patio, checking in on tables, seeing how the staff was doing, seeing how the guests were doing...not good guys. Now there may have been an issue somewhere else that the manager was dealing with, but that is when you as a good manager delegate. You had at least 3 hosts at the front door. Send the one you trust the most to do walk throughs and report back to you on what is going on. How can you be a good manager if you have no clue what is going on in your restaurant, I have come to expect more from McLoone's.
We had a reservation and upon arrival, no tables were ready, should have been a warning sign but I agreed to wait a couple of minutes. Went to the bar, took a very long time to get a bartender's attention, there were 2 of them and the bar was less than half full.
After 20 minutes we got to our table, ordered appetizers, and started reading the main menu. 30 minutes later our server actually questioned why our apps had not been delivered. Flagged her down again and ordered the main course and additional drinks with dinner. After 35 minutes the appetizer finally came and was very good, 30 minutes later our main course came, except my wife and I both ordered steaks and was not given steak knives. As there were no servers anywhere to be found, we made do with our butter knives until I was able to flag down a busboy. Again, the food was good. Once again I flagged down a busboy to get our waters refilled as our 2nd round of drinks had not arrived.
After we finished eating our server finally reappeared to see if everything came out okay, and with the drinks in hand, I sent them back and asked for the check. It's too bad the wait staff is so incompetent, I don't really care if it's lack of training, caring, or poor management, they ruined what could have been a great meal. I will not be returning anytime soon.
I was very disappointed in our service and the food. So many incompetent service, I will not be returning to this establishment.
The place looks great; however, lacks training their food service workers. Eating your dinner with soiled appetizer plates in front of you is not very flattering. The food was fair and not worth the price. I rather spend my $150 elsewhere.
Pretty good food and a great atmosphere. Food is usually uneven and kitchen doesn’t ever listen to changes . For example please don’t put the sauce on the sandwich. While the server ordered it correctly the kitchen didn’t bother to listen so it had to be redone. Service was excellent.
All bad start to finish. Ask Mgr
Reservation acknowledged by hostess. We were seated promptly in a large room with high ceilings. Very comfortable table spacing. Service was attentive and timely. Food was very well presented and met all expectations. Full service bar and extensive wine list added to the experience
Beautiful setting, good food and drinks at reasonable prices. I would go back anytime
Food was just simply not good. We expected more for the price.
Never had such poor service at Macloones restaurant before. The waiter was more interested in chatting with other patrons than ensuring that we received our meal. To think, he asked if we were interested in dessert when we had not had our meal. It took what seems like another 10 mins after that for the food to arrive at our table.
We sat there so long waiting for our check that another waiter came to take our order (must have been a shift change). Our waiter was nowhere to be found. I had to ask one of the managers for our check because the waiter was busy helping to break down the Sunday brunch buffet set up.
They should have at least offered us a concession on our meal.
The food was beyond amazing and worth the wait! The ambience was not great. There was a loud kids birthday party going on inside so we sat outside which was nicer, but still had kids running around. Our waitress was great, but only 2 of the 3 entrees came out together and it was about a 10 minute wait for the 3rd entree what turned out over cooked a little.
The menu is limited and prices are pretty high for what they offer.
Everything was perfect as usual!
Waited 20 minutes for the waiter to take my order. Food was not cook properly
Not your ideal "date night" restaurant as I was anticipating. More of a banquet hall type place. Should have read more reviews.
Do not go here the wait is exhausting
And dampers anything you have-
The waitstaff floats around never looks at tables
The hamburger temperature was - over cooked
The fries were cold .
Nice ambiance for a drink but you’ll wait at the bar for that too!! Not the first time this has happened just the last!!
Unfortunately the restaurant’s menus we were provided were outdated and a few items offered/ordered were not available.
Nice selection but Bagels were stale, several food items were bland
best part is location and view if you sit by the lake
The waitress was wonderful but the food was average over priced . They had the door open for
Outdoor dining which caused flies to come in the indoor dining
Horrible service for my husbands birthday. Would not recommend going unless you want to spend the evening trying to chase down your waitress trying to ask for plates menus, cutlery, and drinks
Service was extremely slow, food order was incorrect. Overall experience was horrible I would never return.
I had the crab cake sandwich with the salad and it was delicious. My daughter had the chicken fingers and fries. It was also good. Very relaxed atmosphere.
