My mother’s 89th birthday. Made us feel very special. Please support in these difficult times.
Superb food and service.
Faultless as usual.
The best dinner we had while in London. We chose to eat all three courses (the menu has the option of one, two or three courses). I started with the foie gras and cranberry terrine. It was delicious with the cranberry being a perfect balance to the fatty foie gras. My date had the seared tuna which was perfect.
As a main course, I had the rump of belted galloway - a specialty beef. It was served roasted with snails and portobello mushrooms. Yes, please! The roast meat was tender and served medium rare. It was fantastic, not too heavy with just the right amount of flavor. My date had the slow braised beef cheek.
I then had the honeycomb ice cream with a fantastic botrytized wine. The two went perfectly together. My date had the warm mousse witha Greek vin santo.
A word about the wine. The wine list was fantastic. We started with a 2010 Ogier Cote Rotie which is a personal favorite but one we don’t see often given its age. The accompanying dessert wines were selected and presented by the sommelier, Melania. If you go, seek her out - she is a treasure, both friendly and knowledgable.
First visit to Medlar and wasn’t disappointed. Food and wine choices excellent and service impeccable, including a birthday dessert with candle, not ordered.
Will be back next time in London
Amazing- everything was delicious - we have a really perfect evening
We had a wonderful night to the Medlar. Very good french food!
Great place to eat. Service was good and the food very enjoyable. Brought some friends who enjoyed.
Escaped to the country from Fulham a few years ago, but if I still lived up the road I'd be a weekly visitor
We had never been to Medlar before, and that has been our loss. Our dinner was fabulous, and we ill certainly be going back.
I enjoyed the food and the welcoming atmosphere, thanks
Wonderful lunch. Great service, excellent food. Highly recommend and will return very soon.
Brilliant as always, food and the wine service is up there with the finest.
Always our favourite local!!! Medlar is simply the best. Xx
Interesting, well thought out combinations of food with a variety of fish and meat as well as a vegetarian option. Very pleasantly staffed. Wonderful fresh bread served with the meal (focaccia and sourdough) and stunning homemade chocolates with the fresh mint tea or coffee at the close of the meal. A crab raviolo and the venison were both outstanding as was the guinea fowl. We enjoyed the forced rhubarb at the close of our meal. Overall very good. It’s not cheap but then I guess for the innovation that’s not unfair. The only downside was that it was a little quiet although it was midweek and early. Probably other times the ambience is excellent so my mark here may be unfair.
One of my favourites in London. Excellent food and attentive yet unintrusive service. Always a great experience.
Wonderful food, attentive service. Love this place
One word AMAZING! It’s been a wonderful journey definitely be back whenever I get the chance!
We had an excellent meal last Sunday lunchtime. Medlar represents great value for money. I would highly recommend this excellent restaurant for lunch or dinner any day of the week.
Great time at Medlar to celebrate Valentine s day!
We went to Medlar for lunch, the restaurant is fairly low key and the fittings are a little tired but the overall ambiance is good. The food was superb and unbelievable value at £39 for three courses, we also took advantage of the £10 corkage (£25 for dinner) to have a very nice bottle of wine. The service was excellent and we were never hurried despite starting our lunch at 2pm. Thoroughly recommend.
Initially service was extremely slow taking our order for both food and then wine. Possibly because we were upstairs? But once we had ordered all was fine. Food was outstanding. Particularly memorable warm chocolate tart and extremely good cheese board. Delicious raviolo starter and venison. Will definitely return soon.
Lovely lunch! I have quite strict dietary requirements and was delighted to have them accommodated without any fuss. The gluten free bread took a while to arrive but when it did there was a nice selection of 3. A little olive oil to dip would have been welcome, as I am also dairy free. I had plenty of options to choose from on both starters and mains, and didn’t feel I was missing out at any point.
If the food was "just OK" I would still visit Medlar regularly - the staff are so friendly and professional, the dining room so nice and the cocktails and wine selection so good that it is just a lovely place to spend an evening. The food though is much, much better than just OK - it beats many "star" restaurants. Portions are generous for this level of cooking and presentation is not "fussy". The cheese selection is one of the finest in the UK. The only "problem" is trying to narrow down your selection from a menu where all items sound so attractive!
What a fabulous restaurant - haven't had such outstanding food for some time . service is really good and the decor is very subtle and sophisticated. It was so good, i booked for a private party for 8 in a few weeks and a business dinner in a couple of weeks. If you haven't gone, go: this must be the best value/best kept 'secret' in London
An excellent meal in lovely surroundings. All of the food was beautifully presented. Really interesting wine list too.
Lovely birthday dinner
Very rich french style food. All very tasty but I must say not very exciting.
Always excellent, service great, food fantastic. We are frequent visitors.
We had a really lovely meal, which was beautiful to look at in a very welcoming place.
Medlar's is a hidden gem, away from the main hub of King's Road, it has the feeling of a both a well loved local and a top notch West End restaurant. Usually, when I dine out there are a couple of menu items that leap off the page but here everything looks so good it's really hard to choose! The only way round this problem is to visit more often.
Beautifully presented food that tasted delicious- I particularly loved the crab raviolo and my guinea fowl. It was my husbands birthday and they picked up on that and brought a free dessert- service was friendly and efficient not intimidating at all.
A pity that the restaurant was not busier but it was a Tuesday lunchtime in January. The food was excellent with a great choice from the fixed price lunch menu. Had to work hard to find reasonably priced wine from their extensive wine list. Service friendly and efficient and I would definitely go back.
Always enjoy visiting your restaurant. We like the staff, the ambiance and the excellent food. Will continue to support you when we are in London.M & C. Thomas,
We came for an anniversary meal, and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff just the right amount of attentive and the food lovely. They even spoiled us a little as it was a special occasion! And for the quality of the food, the menu was well priced. 10/10 would recommend
Excellent food and service in a cosy environment for reasonable price considering the quality.
My new wine lover spot. Nice wine list, just fair by the glass. Terrific if BYO because corkage is only £10 at lunch. Super kind and smiley service but some additional work must be incorporated (short glass variety, Armagnac served far from the table, ...). Quite easy to improve.
Crab Raviolo (13/20) IMHO needs more taste (selected black pepper or clove even).
Anjou Pigeon (15/20) if served a little warmer easily (17/20).
Triple cooked potatoes (14/20) pretty good but that sauce ...
Pakin with pineapple and lime (12/20) would like more "sponge texture-like" but acid fruit works perfectly well with this cake.
Petite Four (13/20) Once again, only tasted those without chocolate.
We've eaten at Medlar a few times. It has always been good but the food this time was really excellent. And a good ambience with a noise level low enough to allow conversation.
We very much enjoyed our supper. We ate the crab raviolo and then the venison. Very good selection of wines by the glass. Courteous, knowledgeable staff. Not noisy.
Excellent in every respect...plenty of space between tables, excellent low key service and attention and a wonderful menu, as always
A friend recommended Medlar so I took a punt for a business meeting/lunch for people who care about food and wine. It was a great success and I would certainly return as would my colleagues. The service was excellent without being obtrusive and the food excellent. Thank you.
