Not the best experience I have to say. Food was terribly salty throughout. And rather bland. White wine was too warm. Decor and ambience in the restaurant are nice. But service is bordering on grumpy.
3 of us enjoyed a delicious meal on Saturday. Excellent food, good service with a gentle buzzy atmosphere. Whilst everything we ate was very wonderful I would thoroughly recommend the crab raviolo we had as a starter and the dessert of lemon curd beignets. Hope to be back soon.
Fantastic food, service provided with a smile, all employees seem to have a great interest in food and in people. Great experience, not cheap but worth every penny. We informed before the visit that one of our guest was vegan, not only was she provided with a separate menu with different choices but they had also made her special sweets! Also she was very impressed!
We were not made to feel welcome. We were stuck on a table all on our own well removed from the main body of the restaurant and no one made any effort with us. The food was average to indifferent, not at all as we expected from the reviews. The hake was not particularly fresh, the ‘tempura’ more like biscuit and much of the food was only warm. I could go on but it would take too long to list the shortcomings of the food. Needless to say, we will never return!
This was our second time at Medlar and this time we took our 5 year son who is a very fussy eater to celebrate a special family birthday. The team were extremely accommodating and not only remembered what I said he liked to eat and had it ready but also that it was a birthday so they brought out a special dessert. The food is excellent, the environment is relaxed and the team are very attentive! I can’t recommend enough and it’s fast becoming a favourite!
As delicious as ever and wonderful service. Such good value for lunch.
Excellent food and great value for money in such a prime location.
This french restaurant is brilliant! The food were really delicious and the service is excellent. I also got a free complimentary dessert for my anniversary as well. Really impressed. Worth every pounds you paid. I’ll recommend my friend to come here.
Very tasteful food that was delicately prepared. Each dish with well balanced and fine tastes. We had three different menues and we were all equally happy. The food was well paired with good wine recommended by the sommelier. The staff was very friendly and observant.
My husband doesn’t really like high end food but Medlar was recommended by a friend. We loved the intimacy, personal and attentive service and quality/choice of food and drinks - the Gin Cocktails are wonderful! We were so impressed and shall happily return.
We loved our evening at Medlar to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The food and service was exceptional with great combination of flavours and textures in each dish. We especially loved the crab raviolo and the crisp peasant egg with confit quail legs. My apricot financier dessert was so delicious and then we were surprised with a second dessert for our anniversary. A lovely thoughtful gesture from a restaurant where are the staff are friendly and helpful, there when needed but not intrusive. I also really liked how we were seated side by side at our table. A definite highlight from our trip to London.
Kirsty and Ray
another birthday lunch which didn't disappoint. Delicious food, lovely staff, nice decor. Perfect.
Thank you so much for such a wonderful evening. Food was spectacular!
Fantastic lunch! We will definitely be back. Service was brilliant. The restaurant is very passionate and provided us with a memorable time.
There is genuine passion displayed in the food and the sommelier's eyes when we discussed the wines.
Excellent food and attentive but not invasive service. Nice and quiet - very much enjoyed the experience.
Outstanding food, exemplary service.
Fabulous Sunday lunch - quite delicious food superb presentation and outstanding dishes. We had the crab ravioli and calves liver . Great service and quiet table at the back.
Exceptional Saturday lazy lunch with good friends. Fixed price menu offered varied choices and excellent quality. French style, food was beautifully presented and every dish we ordered was wonderful. Great wine too. Portions were just the right size. Service was genuinely superb - friendly and attentive but never intrusive. Staff never tried to rush us at all. Highly recommend and will definitely return. A real gem!
Very good we had lunch with our son who now lives in Fulham and he will take guests there regularly
Great food and lovely staff. My daughter has a severe intolerance to alliums (anything in the onion family) and they accommodated it without fuss. Plus, it was my birthday - I was presented with a stack of lemon curd beignets with a lit candle on top and the waiter singing 'happy birthday'. What's not to like?
One of our favourite restaurants in London, more than deserving of a star (which it has bizarrely lost) especially when comparing alongside other one star restaurants! Delicious food at great value.
Fantastic on all levels !! Innovative and tasty food
Favourite with family, selected for birthday celebration. Lovely decor, super food, discreet but very attentive service - lives up to expectations in every way. Lunch on Sunday was our third [or perhaps fourth?] visit so we can attest to the consistency of the offering. We gathered there from Cambridgeshire and Kent as well as London - that speaks well of the attractions of your small restaurant over the offerings of more centrally located establishments. We are often nervous about online booking, but your arrangements worked very efficiently. Well done all round.
The food was fantastic
Thank you to Agathe for kindness
Crab Ravioli ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ and a beautiful place for Lovers
Great menu. Delicious food. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Nice decor. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic food - especially crab ravioli. Friendly understated service. Superb value at £35 for lunch (3 courses)
The fact that I come from Camden once or twice a month is indicative of how much I like this restaurant. The modern English food is delicious, the lunchtime set menu is very good value, the £10 corkage at lunch allows me share my good wines with friends - what better to do this at this charming restaurant at the Worlds End end of the Kings Road. Do come here for lunch or dinner. It’s much busier at dinner than lunch.
Good food but they should bring the cheeseboard back
I went for a meal with my husband on a Sunday evening - we wanted to go somewhere fairly local and Medlar came up on a search. We loved everything about the experience, from the friendliness of the staff to the ambiance to the delicious food and the excellent wine.
Food was properly top notch. Nothing weird or experimental, but just really really good to eat. Plus unusually flexible menu structure, which was nice. Service was fine once it got started but there was a 10 minute gap between getting water as we sat down and getting menus and taking drinks orders. And the dining room is still that New York greige glamour that Ramsay was so keen on circa 2002 - I don't mind formal but this room felt stiff and oppressive. But I'd go again for that food.
This place is real find - I booked it completely on spec, looking for somewhere reasonably priced to meet some friends in the Chelsea area for lunch, and it completely surpassed all expectations. The staff were really charming and helpful and all menu choices we made from the generous options available were delicious. We were delighted with it all
Fabulous lunch, thank you. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic evening at one of my favorite restaurants. Service was excellent, we'd booked a 9pm table but a call in the afternoon allowed us to bring in it forward to 8. We had a table up stairs, and after a few minutes we quickly realised that we had a very noisy neighbour (elderly gentlemen with a earring aid either on a low setting or off!!!) After a quiet word, the staff were very kind in finding us a table downstairs with no bother, much appreciated. The food and wine were exceptional as always. Many thanks.
An outstanding dining experience that left us wanting an immediate return. Exciting, varied and balanced menu was a joy to peruse. Many thank from us for a wonderful evening! We’ll be back..
Excellent restaurant for a quiet and romantic dinner.
We had a very nice moment. We recommend you to a french friend who is living in London.
This restaurant serves well executed modern British food in delightful surroundings with very professional service. The set menus there provide a large number of choices. The set three course lunch is exceptional value at £35 (it is only £53 in the evening). With corkage at £10 (it is only £25 in the evening), it is exceptional value. Although not greatly situated (for me), I would go the extra mile down the Kings Road to World's End to experience this restaurant.
Great food, wonderful service and great advice given by staff who appear to genuinely want their diners to have the best experience possible. Thoroughly recommended for a treat.
