My friend and I visited on Sunday brunch, having heard great reviews of this place. Unfortunately, our experience was not.
We were seated upstairs, which was OK, but lost some of the atmosphere. When we went downstairs to pay, the employee (sorry I didn't get her name) behind the bar was texting "her supervisor" on her phone. As I work in hospitality myself, I do appreciate that these things are sometime necessary, but either take it to the staff office or wait until after the busy Sunday shift has finished.
The worst was the food, I am afraid. I ordered the Complete Italomanic. The food didn't taste fresh (particularly the rockets and salad on the side), the bread was greasy, and the beans were flavourless. They looked like they had been stewing on the side of the kitchen for several days . Sorry if this is not the case, just my experience. My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. It lacked flavour again, and the portions were really small.
It was a real disappointment; we left feeling that we had a unpleasant experience. It is a shame as we were really looking forward it. Maybe it was just a bad shift?
Our food was very mediocre in taste, and also was the presentation. (Eggs Benedict meant Eggs Benedict - the plate looked empty and dry). The establishment appeared to be experiencing disorder, at 8:15 in the morning. Our server was a delightful young women from Spain, we had a little bit of communications breakdown, but we lightly figured it out, and she was so delightful and fun. THE Big issue: when we were leaving around 9:00 am, a women came in, apparently their supervisor/owner, and started reading the staff the riot act . She did this in front of all of the customeres, we were about three tables from the door, everyone in there heard her. We had already realized that their was some disorder going on, but not a problem for us - things happen. Don't know who she was, but she made our breakfast experience very unpleasant. She could have taken it to a back room, instead of subjecting the customers to her fury. She should rethink what her customer relations position should be, or maybe, The Megaro could help her with this - Bottom Line: She won't help your business, whoever she is. The employees before she arrived appeared to make it work, although experiencing disorder. Again, our young women from Spain, was wonderful.
Always great food and service here, well recommended
1 and a half hours prosecco. Can't complain about that. Very good service.
The service was rude and quite matter of fact. We had a vegan dietary request on our table and we asked for any vegan dishes. The request was instantly dismissed without even consideration of asking the kitchen. Fine this happened but later the same waitress asked the lady why she wasn’t ordering a main...
Really great location and proximity to kings cross and at panc stations and really good value and ambience for a meet up with friends
The noise level of other people was not something I’d have been worried about as I enjoy places you can feel free to relax and enjoy yourself in without worrying if you’re being too loud etc. However, there must have been building work above or next door as there was a lot of banging and electric drill noises which was very irritating. The staff however were all lovely, even when a glass was accidentally broken by our table they were really good about it and the staff are what turned it around and the reason I’d go back!
Great Brunch really nice and service was good Obrigada to the manager who looked after us, sorry can’t recall your name
Only quibble is I got a notification by email about the unlimited brunch but felt that it was a bit misleading as you have to pay a minimum of £15 just for the drink? Why no set price menu with the Prosecco included?
Ok but nothing soecial
Arrived at 18.30. No one else to be seen. The foccaccia starter was the greasiest we have ever eaten. The pasta was incredibly thick and undercooked. It was a dreadful meal but at least the staff apologised and didn't charge for the food. Avoid.
Team breakfast, low noise level so were bale to conversate. Food was lovely and we all really enjoyed it.
Overall we had a nice time but service reallllyyyyy lacked at points. We had to ask three times to get the bill yet they couldn’t clear our plates quick or stop our unlimited processo the exact minute we had to even though we’d been sitting waiting for a top up for a while. We had to wait a lot for top ups, dont offer unlimited if you’re going to be reluctant to fill up glasses. My dish also sat at the pass for a long time before my pals dish was served up- meant the muffin was soggy and the hollandaise has a skin.
Relaxed place in a great location. Perfect for after work dinner with girls as plenty of space (not as busy as away from granary square etc but opposite the station).
Great place for breakfast. Varied menu, good quality food and nice atmosphere. Location being just opposite Kings Cross is handy for travellers.
Evening meal yes, breakfast no.
Yogurt bland and sweet, berries a very few tasteless blueberries. Toast soggy with no offers of extra or preserves. Tea would be better in a pot. Very poor all round.
Had a midweek dinner here with friends. The service and ambience were great, but the food wasn't as good we expected. Not bad by any means, but lacked flavour and not as tasty as other Italian restaurants I've been to.
Friendly staff, great decor and ambience. Food delicious. Highly recommended and will return.
The food was really delicious, although a couple of things from the menu were not available. We both had pasta dishes and they were absolutely gorgeous.
Great place, always love coming here. Menu is really good with plenty yo choose from staff are super friendly
The service Was kind of lost
They mistake my dish
Food was not fine
Event was a cousin catch-up. Everything was great - just one misunderstanding but it took a few attempts to get it right. The staff member just didn’t get that we just wanted an extra glass, not another juice. But service was friendly and food was good
I have been eating at Megaro (Karpo) since it opened and I have never been disappointed. An interesting menu. High quality food at reasonable prices. The entrance is not prepossessing but don’t let this pit you off. Good service. Highly recommended.
Great food! I would visit this restaurant if I come to London again.
Lovely people. Very competent, very keen to please. I loved the food as well.
Just really good food, served efficiently and at reasonable prices in my view. We would definitely eat here again and 2 minutes from Kings Cross / St Pancras. Good venue.
An excellent meal in a great location. The offer of two courses and a glass of fizz was very good value.
First experience and he was good / atmosphere.
A great place for an evening out with friends when you want good food in a cheerful place but not too pricey or too stuffy. Well situated opposite King's Cross station but nice inside. Delicious but relatively straightforward food - both individual plates and for sharing.
Food was reasonable, but unfortunately the service was poor, staff were moody and not at all prompt for the bottomless brunch.
The “Frenchie” breakfast is bloody awful. Service was a joke
Great place, such friendly staff always a joy to come here! Well recommended
Friendly staff but slow service. Goo not great, but the price is good.
We enjoyed our full monty breakfasts, the food was good quality with the exception of the hash browns which tasted a bit old and dry.
Service was good, atmosphere was nice.
Lovely food, good choice of options and excellent value with the set menu. Service a bit haphazard, but very friendly and helpful. Exceeded my expectations overall.
Loved it! Good food, good service and loved the bottomless wine!
All the food was cooked fresh to order, presented nicely, we ate with a 2 course voucher with a glass of Fizz and topped it up with a glass of wine all of which was very enjoyable.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Very friendly, relaxed service. Good food specially cooked for us. No complaints.
I never write bad reviews but this is an exception. Booked this restaurant for our team event and found it embarrassing. The young waiter didn't know what he was doing, didn't seem to know what was available on the menu, kept coming over double checking instead of just listening in the first place, was totally distracted. We waited over and HOUR for bread to be put on the table to be told, from I guess the supervisor that it was their 'rush hour'! Food finally came, can't really fault the food but the ambience went out the window as we were so very hungry. Had to keep asking for cutlery because between courses they took them away, just replace them?? No sense of urgency, not professional in anyway, it felt like a chore to have them to serve us.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this restaurant.
Overall: Not the best place for a bottomless brunch, probably better for evening drinks as they had music and central location.
Food: Tasty and cheap. However, small portion sizes and the food was just kinda thrown at us.
Drinks: Paid £15 for 'Unlimited Prosecco'. Not once did anyone come to fill up or drinks, the staff avoided our table and we had to call them over to refill which made it not an enjoyable experience.
Service: Not great due to asking for my 'bottomless' drink to be refilled. It was barely filled 4 times in 2 hours and then we were told we couldn't have any more drinks. The 12.5% service charge is a joke to be honest.
Ambience: Music was too loud to hear the person across from me talk and the staff were all busy chatting away at the bar making it hard to get service to our table.
