Mei Ume offers authentic yet modern Chinese and Japanese cuisine from two distinct kitchens. Showcasing two of the greatest Asian cuisines under one roof, the restaurant includes a bar, lounge and table seating, as well as a private dining room for up to 13 people.

Under the guidance of Head Chef Tony Truong, the Chinese kitchen offers a wide variety of approachable dishes, including the signature Mei Ume Peking Duck, served according to tradition across two courses. Focusing on the quality of the ingredients, Sushi Chef Mun Seok Choi takes the helm of the Mei Ume Bar serving delicate, well-balanced sushi and sashimi alongside a selection of expertly crafted cocktails served by the talented bartenders. An extensive wine and sake menu complements the restaurant menu.

Good all round, but definitely overpriced in our opinion for what you get. Your purely paying being at the Four Seasons, which is not a bad thing for those who appreciate it. Current team and service is good but still has to improve to be at the level it's pitching itself at, since you would expect excellence. Maybe it's a matter of time since the restaurant is fairly new.

Too loud and expensive for what it was. Our order was mixed up, the duck course for extra 50 GBP was very small (while excellent). We’ve been once before, gave it a second chance but don’t think we’ll be coming back.

Still a great place but I have seen things I don’t like in this, my fourth, visit. A £22 glass of Meursault has to be served in the appropriate Burgundy glass and poured from the bottle, not brought from behind the counter. In the past, it was always like this. Four Seasons: watch the small details!

I celebrated my birthday here with my family who all work in the City of London and some travelled from afar and it was just brilliant from start to finish. We had the lunch set menu which was outstanding for the value. The food is superb and the service excellent, and we were not left hungry!

My only criticism is that I am sure I noted in the booking that it was my birthday, but it was not acknowledged at all which was sad, but that is the only compliant I had!

This will definitely become a regular go-to for us, thank you so much!

I visited Mei Ume with my girlfriend for her birthday. The restaurant had a relaxing ambience with a modern Asian style atmosphere. We were advised by a sommelier, which was a good added value compared with other restaurants that do not necessarily offer this service. We had the tasting menu, the cuisine was nice, the chef respected all the ingredients that he used, but it was mostly the freshness of the food that really appreciated. The service was amazing, Jonathan really made the difference as he knew to play between respecting our privacy and adding some sparkle throughout this experience. Only reservation, we weren't very thrilled by the cocktails. Overall, great experience, definitely recommend it!

Absolutely incredible meal. Booked for a birthday and they even came out and sang! Two of us had veggie tasting menus, two had normal and every dish was exquisite. Waiters always on hand (they weren't "too close" as a lot of people seem to be saying) and were great with suggestions. Loved it!

Food quality very good but eye wateringly excessive prices even for a corporate meal. If want to burn money invest in a box of matches and save the calories.

My second time at this restaurant. The food is great quality however portions are still small. The service however quick, almost feels too quick and often feels rushed to finish your meal. With the servers standing right on top of you or watching to see when you finish the food which is uncomfortable when going for a relaxing meal!

We selected the set menu. I assumed portions would be small but was proven wrong. Every dish was exquisitely presented. The service was supremely Asian style courteous. Everything was delicious. The dining room is absolutely beautiful - a real treat in itself. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

A lovely dinner and the food was fantastic but the service was slow. We were there for almost 3 hours, it felt like other tables were being served much faster than us with the table next to us arriving us and eating and leaving before we had all of our mains

The 2005 Bollinger rose was fantastic. The crispy sea bass and wasabi prawns were excellent. A couple of the starters were a bit of a disappointment (rice paper prawn rolls and the 'hairy' prawns) but rest was fantastic. Service excellent. Very attentive and friendly and helpful.

Came here for an anniversary. Service was 10/10. He was chef came out to talk through our food selections and carve our duck. Our waiter was brilliant and tended to every need. The sommelier recommended some amazing sake pairings with our deserts. This is one of he best Asian fusion restaurants in London by far. A.wong had better watch out!!!!

It’s really beautiful here. Art Deco meets the Orient, I suppose.

I plump for the Saturday brunch. Edamame, miso soup with softest tofu.

Sushi is so delicate I feel like a clumsy gaijin eating it. This is a risk with everything about the place.

Veg tempura and squid arrive minutes too early, their delicate scent of fried fat tainting the sushi and batter inexorably softening with each second out of the fryer.

Four! main courses. Subtle sweet wasabi prawn. A very savoury hot rock cooked Korean rice. What looks like generic sweet and sour is fruity with among other things, sour cherry. I check my reservation to be sure I am not (literally) eating for two. Szechuan – well it could be anything – tingles and burns in delicious crunchiness. I decline dessert.

The website suggests there should have been dim sum, they weren’t needed.

£50 including a tea and the service charge.

The Peking duck and noodles were sensational. However the waiters stand was about three feet from the table facing our table and at almost all times there were two or three waiters there talking and punching the order board. It was like having them at the table. Another stand was bothering customers similarly about three tables away. I had to ask to have wine glasses filled three times. Summary—great food and bad management.

A great 5 star addition to the tower hill area of London. This will help to lift the quality quotient of the area. The whole Four Seasons ambience will transform a previously workman-like and unglamorous part of the City. The wholesale upgrade and the fast pace of transformation of the neighbourhood will give us wider choices of places to eat, stay and enjoy!

Excellent food served well in a room of great presence, with an outstanding design intervention. Expensive, but worth it.

My only complain is that the music seemed a bit ‘pop’ and random. Clearly an afterthought. This place deserves a more thoughtful soundtrack.

We preferred the Japanese sushi than the Peking Duck. Was not happy when I saw roots of feathers on the duck skin when I was paying 80+gbp for the whole duck! The second serving of the duck which came with crispy noodles was too salty for me. We wont be ordering the duck again for sure. We liked the soft shell crab and the spicy tuna sushi we had. Not the most authentic but flavoursome and it suited our taste buds. Furthermore, the ambiance of the restaurant at the lovely Four Seasons and the proximity to home means we will likely visit the restaurant again, if only for the sushi.
