Love this place, the food is very good, consistent, menu offers a good variety of food and wines. The atmosphere is very cozy. The staff is very friendly, always with a smile. Totally recommended for an overall nice experience. Suitable for all.
Great service very reasonable food and a varied menu
A beautiful little restaurant, with a cosy atmosphere and wonderful food!
The food here is AMAZING! The best Italian we've found in London. Staff are so sweet and the atmosphere is always great. A must visit.
Great food and lovely staff. I'll be coming back for sure!
Really nice food - the gnocchi was definitely the highlight! All the staff were lovely and really attentive. Cosy interior which was perfect for a long catch up with friends.
We had a great time at Melanzana. We were a party of 6 and all had different dishes and all were delicious. The puddings were fabulous too. The service was brilliant and everything was very clean.
thank you Lorraine B for your nice review we make sure that we deliver the best to all our customers thank you once again and thanks for your support manager SAM
With coronavirus we have been reluctant to eat out, however a friend was leaving the country, so we thought it nice to take her out for a farewell meal. It was such a disappointing experience. Although the staff wore masks every time the waitress came to our the table she pulled her mask down to speak! Also the tables were close together.
But the worst of it was the food was dreadful, frozen fish to start with dreadful batter on and the mains were barely passable. We didn't want to make a fuss in front of my friends but i can honestly say i will never go there again and it was expensive for what it was.
Unfortunately, the advertised ‘Extended Eat Out to Help Out’ offer is misleading. Despite the standard EOHO being 50% off food up to £10pp, this restaurant has adapted this to 20% without informing customers. The two EOHO signs displayed today don’t mention 20%.
Businesses can apply any offer they like and I support local businesses in choosing to attract custom on a basis that suits them. However EOHO has has been standard in August (supported by government) and has been repeated on the same basis by many businesses in September. Advertising on this basis gives an expectation to the customer.
The adaption of the EOHO discount from 50% to 20% only becomes apparent when the bill arrives - that’s if you notice in time.
Starters and mains arrived together, which we forgave at the time.
We’ve twice been charged £13.90 for Carbonara when it is £11.90 on the printed menu and £10.90 online.
Please be more honest with your customers on any promotions and update the price of Carbonara.
Melanzana signature dish was peppery and almost as if chilli in there, not very nice, certainly wouldn’t order again; pasta with mushrooms and sausage was reasonable but again not a repeat order; pudding fine - hard to go wrong with afogato
Good Italian food. Happy to order off the menu too.
Service was friendly but got annoyed at us for asking for additional condiments or more tap water...!
Very disappointed. We walked in to be greeted by a disgruntled waitress, not a very nice welcome. I told her we had a reservation and gave her my name. She did not check a diary or a list nothing she just looked around as to find space for us. There were tables available so I am not sure what she was looking for.
Eventually another waitress shouts out that we could sit at a table that she was pointing out. This very tiny table was adjacent to the till and the bar, there were no protective screens and we were right in the passage way. We sat down for 2 minutes and walked out. Yes I could have asked to change table but it's a matter of principle. I booked and I had a reservation. We should have been given a nice table like all other customers.
It's a shame we have been to Melanzana before and we had a great time and the staff was lovely. In these times if I had a restaurant I would bend over backwards for my customers, it's a real shame as the place has real potential.
Great little family run spot! Generous portions, super nice staff. If you are in a rush, this is not the place for you. Great chilled neighbourhood spot!
Gnocco Fritto con burrata and parma is an awesome app to start the night off right - soo gooood! Says it's for two people, easily can feed 4!
This was a lovely, relaxing place to sit and chat on a Sunday afternoon. The pasta, gnocci and dessert were excellent! Good menu, good service and a lovely lunch.
The staff were amazing and the food delicious. Luckily we over ordered so had take away for the next day.
Lovely good and great atmosphere. I’ll be back again
Great food, great service. Can't fault. i"ll certainly be returning!
An Itlain Taverna in the centre of Old Battersea. Clean and with a quiet ambiance, a menu that is for all tastes, from Pizzas , Salads, Pastas, to meat dishes. Excellent reasonably priced wines and excellent service with a smile. They also have a deli with oil, pasta and coffee for sale, as well as takeaway.
We enjoyed really nice starters (sharing plates) which were both really tasty and good sized portions.
Out of the four main meals only one was really nice and that was the Gnocchi. The Carbonara was bland with bacon lardons which needed more cooking. The reader Veal was dry and both dishes didn’t arrive with the roasted tomatoes as listed on the menu! The roast potatoes were also extremely salty!
Overall an ok experience but wouldn’t rush back!!
I have seen many of the other reviews for this place and they make no sense to me. The place is really bad: poor ingredients used to make badly executed dishes ....and it isn’t cheap, either. The wine was appalling, too. Dreadful.
Very good food at reasonable prices. For a Sunday evening it had a few people dining and the ambience was good and overall a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Love this little gem of a restaurant!
Food is consistently good and authentic Italian food, so what more could you want.
Amazing food will definitely be going back. I had the homemade pasta with mushrooms and truffle oil and it was perfect!
Three of us had dinner at Melanzana last week as it is conveniently close to our son’s house. It was the first time that any of us had visited the restaurant and we were delighted. The welcome was warm, the food outstanding and the wine excellent. I was particularly impressed when the manager checked that the wine that I had ordered was correct as it was quite expensive compare to the other wines - that is caring for the customer! The friendly, happy “buzz” in the restaurant complemented our enjoyment and we shall undoubtedly return - a real gem!
One of the best casual italian restaurants in London (I m Italian :)). Lovely staff and service.
The food is simple, authentic and delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend
Over 45 mins wait for the starter...even though they deleted from the bill it wasn’t nice...and the place was hardly any busy..
Good food for decent price! Great tiramisu!!
To be honest i didn't stay to eat there, but have before and it used to be ok.
The reason being i ordered a bottle of valdobbiadene prosecco ( the best) and was given a poor substitute already opened and poured by the waitress, then told "it's the same dear"....erm no my friend it is not...i may not be Italien but i know the difference! So if i ordered vongolè would i have got mussels!! Walked out and went to a delightful Lebanese opposite!!!
Absolutely excellent in every way
We made reservations, but were able to pick where we wanted to sit. The ambiance was great. We started with a bottle of wine and an app. We were never rushed, received some great suggestions and had great conversation. I felt like we were in Rome again! My husband and I both had entrees, and then it was recommended that we could split the Tiramisu. It was incredible! We walked back to our hotel instead of a taxi or uber. Highly recommended. (And thank you for a great time).
Food was greasy not authenti service was poor and overpriced
Pretty average Italian restaurant, as an Italian I can easily judge that. Nice location next to the river walk and overall friendly staff, but not a place I would eat at again.
Staff were so lovely and the food was amazingly tasty. Will definitely be re visiting
Wonderful service. Excellent food & even a side salad made to order!
Excellent meal and friendly service. Will definitely eat here again
Authentic Italian, very good pizza. We recommend for an informal lunch or dinner with friends or family.
Delicious food and kind service. This was our second visit and we will be back!
Good service and good food!!!
They have the best gluten free pizza I have ever eaten!!!
couldn’t eat the main (salty, swimming in butter) sent back but still charged on bill.
kindly offered dessert but would have expected the main, they wasn’t touched, to be removed from bill.
didn’t check on service throughout meal
