Mellow's Bar & Restaurant
Fri, Sat 13:00–00:00
Went there for my daughters birthday who has already submitted a review . To echo what she has said, I would definitely revisit. The food was very good the family of four enjoy all their meals. Being a vegitarian I was very pleased with the choices. At last there is a restaurant selling authentic Caribbean food. Already planning a revisit.
The food here was lovely. The jerk sauce is amazing! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and come back. We had the surf and turf with lobster tail and lamb, and also the jerk chicken. The whole meal had this wonderful cajun spice. The only thing I would criticise is that it's really hard to have a conversation when the music is so loud and the there's a dj talking down the mic, which is really distracting and ruined the ambiance a little. The place was fully booked on a Thursday night, so I recommend reserving a table via OpenTable.
Nice ambience, great food and really polite staff from waitress to bartender to management. Really nice little gem this place is.
Had a lovely meal an cocktails can not fault the place but i ordered a xl meal an i finished before everyone meaning it was very small portion wise
It was my second visit and the experience was the same, food was amazing, staff were very friendly but forgetful and service was painfully slow.
We booked a table but waited 20 minutes to be seated (waitor said he'd be with us in a sec), after 15 minutes of waiting for a menu I had to go the bar and ask again for a menu (admittedly I could have used my phone to look online). The wait for food and drinks in particularly was shocking.
All was forgotten and forgiven when we got our food. Best Carribbean food in Brum and vegan options are 10/10. Then we go to pay and they tell us card machine is broken so we have to go round the corner to take out cash. At 10 o clock on a cold winter's night that was annoying. Especially as we had an hour and a half of waiting for food and drink. We were ready to go home.
The worst thing is that happened on my first visit so I should have been prepared. Food was too good to stay away but I'd perhaps wait a while and go back when things are running smoothly.
Small menu but great portions. Good selection of cocktails and friendly informative waitresses.
Come here for authentic Jamaican food.
The food and cocktails were very nice, can’t fault them. But the service was so bad. We were waiting 40 minutes to be seated even though we had booked a table. During this time not one member of staff came over to let us know there would be a delay or explain anything, there was no apology for the wait when we were finally called to be seated. When we placed our order we were waiting a long time even to receive the drinks which would normally be received quite quickly. When the food came we noticed an item was missing however no one came back to the table to see if everything was alright for the whole time that we were there and we were so hungry we didn’t bother to try and get someone’s attention. When we asked for the bill, again we were left waiting a long time and ended up asking another member of staff. Overall the staff were friendly and the waitress who took the order was very nice but the service wasn’t up to scratch, again the food and cocktails were very nice.
Good and service was good, howver we had to wait sometime before we were served after they had served people who came in after us.
Wonderful food, wonderful service and a great atmosphere
The service by Adam was nice, he made us feel very welcome. The food was nice, no faults, everything was hot, and presentation was on point. Only downfall for me or us was that prior to ordering we were told the Salmon, Fried Chicken and Duck was not available and we actually came for the salmon and fried chicken so that was disappointing, unsure if lunch time is too early for it but overall the Jerk Chicken was noice! yes noice!! And the sweet chilli prawns and mac n cheese 😍
My experience was great. The service that was provided was brilliant. Food wait wasn’t long at all and the food was very nice. The cocktails were also nice and they had a special offer on cocktails aswell which was really good.
Nice , clean place. Not very big which means tables are quite close to each other. Not a very big choice on menu. But what we had was just ok. Drinks were VERY expensive. £8 large rose wine £4 small shandy. Meals in my opinion for what you get overpriced. Our waitress was polite and friendly.
