Lovely food and great service

Great service, we try almost all sharing plates! Delicious! The only thing that I’ve missed was the Spanish omelette.
100% recommended

We went here to celebrate a birthday, and the restaurant was spot on. The downstairs is quite lively and the upstairs a bit quieter. The staff were the perfect level of attentive and were knowledgeable about the menu. The food was great, and as a vegetarian the paella option was a highlight. Overall, a great evening and would highly recommend

Absolutely fantastic meal at Mercado - me and the wife decided to go Tapas only and shared 12 dishes.... OK, that was probably too much but the food was fantastic, wine was excellent, service was very attentive and engaging and the ambience of the restaurant was great. Next time, I'd love to sit on the ground floor where the open kitchen are working right in front of your eyes, but it was lovely sitting upstairs as well. A great addition to the Cambridge dining scene and we will be visiting again soon! Thanks

Not happy at all, paid £16 for just one gamba or carabinero or some people call it Big King Prawm. Also, they do not follow the Covid guidelines, squid empanada full of grease, very small and £6.50!!, Jamon Iberico not good quality, finish quite hungry, bill £100!!, for 2 people, the only drink were glass of wine and a beer, service charge is quite high, never again.

Fantastic meal, food was excellent and the service was perfect. Felt so at home, could have sat there for the rest of the afternoon with an extra bottle and their fantastic food!

This was my 3rd visit to Mercado Central and as always, the food and serivce were outstanding.

Bearing in mind this was the last night before lockdown 2 and it was as busy as could be within the social distancing guidelines, they did a good job. Looking forward to returning as soon as they are open again.

We were fairly disappointed considering the great reviews on Trip Adviser.
The restaurant was really cold.
The starters of croquettes and crispy squid were very good, particularly the squid.
We had to remind the staff to bring our wine, we had finished one sharing starter and had started the second one and the wine still hadn’t been served. Then the waiter forgot to bring the wine cooler.
The seafood risotto main had very little seafood in it. The pork main was slightly tough and lacking in flavour.

Lovely authentic tapas restaurant, definitely on the pricey side, but well worth the cost. The food was fantastic.

Very nice place for dinner. They have a wide variety of the Spanish cuisine.

I only missed vegan options (I'm Spanish and I know loads of typical dishes that are actually vegan or you can make them vegan)
The veggie rice was ok, but I think it can be highly improved if they change the pickled artichokes (they were kind of sour) and the aubergine ( it doesn't fit with Valencian rice). They could add other veggies as peppers, green onions, green beans, chickpeas, regular artichokes... Just my opinion.

Starters were absolutely amazing, bravas were so well done (I missed some vegan all I oli).

The rice from Huelva was really good as well as the wine we ordered.

About the desserts, we couldn't ask for any as they don't offer any vegan option. Again, easy Spanish-vegan desserts exist.

It is kind of a pitty because the restaurant and staff is lovely, I cannot recommend enough this place...

But I think the menu doesn't offer enough dishes for all the people (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian...). So that they cannot enjoy the full experience

Staff were amazing, very knowledgable and lovely to speak to. Drinks were also great. Food was disappointing, didn't have a ton of flavour.

Returning customer and the menu is evolving with some brilliant new additions and a varied specials board . Razors clams , Queen scallops and Prawn croquettes all glorious for a shared starter .
Excellent Lemon Sole for the wife and a gorgeous Arroz Negra . Black rice with octopus and prawns .
Already booked in 2 weeks time .

Fabulous food, with great range of fresh fish and seafood to choose from. Everything was perfectly cooked and the service was really friendly. It’s also got great decor.

Great dinner at Mercado Central. Having lived in Spain, it is great to have such an authentic Spanish restaurant in Cambridge. The fish and seafood is fresh and delicious. The service very good. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon!

I absolutely loved Mercado Central. I'm Spanish and it really felt like eating at mum's. The food is super fresh and the flavours amazing. I would definitely recommend to everyone to go there and I'll definitely be a regular!

Had dinner on a Friday night. Restaurant was very busy. Social distancing was not observed. I ordered a shared started, the fried calamari was nice. For a main I ordered the sole and my guest ordered the seafood paella. The sole had no flavor whatsoever and while it was moist it was not worth the £27 I was charged for it. The paella had only a few small pieces of sea food and tasted “ok”. The sangria was also less than enjoyable. During our meal the waiter only checked on us once and never offered or brought drink refills. I don’t feel that this experience is representative of this establishment and I am confident that it has been difficult dealing with COVID restrictions. However, I was dissatisfied with the food, especially given the price, and also very unhappy with the service.

Delicious, fresh and inventive food, excellent wine. Charming service. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Will definitely return.
